The next morning I got up feeling like I hadn't slept at all. After I showered and got dressed I made my bed and went to the kitchen to get something to eat. After cleaning up I went to find Patricia. Once I was done getting directions I made it to her office. Then I knocked on the door and went in.
"Good morning Natasha how did you sleep?"
"Not well, I know I was asleep but when I got up this morning I didn't feel like I slept at all."
"Hmmmm, did you dream? Do you remember the dreams?"
"I think I dreamed but I don't remember anything about it or them. And I woke up with a headache and a sore throat. I think I was screaming at some point."
"Well I guess it's a good thing all the rooms are sound proof then. We will figure this out. It might be your memory trying to come back. I don't know how bad the accident at the monastery was but that might be what your dreaming about. So are you up for some testing or do you want to wait another day?"
"No I want to do the testing now. I don't think the nightmares will stop anytime soon. I don't know how your going to figure it out but I want to know what I can do."
"Okay then let's go down to the practice rooms. I have a few things set up that we can try."
I nod my head and we walk down to the elevator. A few minutes later we are standing in front of the door to war room A.
Patricia turns to me and says," Now each room has a type of difficulty level. As well as a realism level. When we go in I will show you what I mean. Also only you or I will be able to run any program on your list. You can change the password after this session is done. But I need to be able to check on you when needed okay."
"Okay that's not a problem, shall we get started?"
Once we walk in Patricia shows me how the room works. Nothing in the program will actually kill me but it is real enough that I can feel it. For an hour after we got in the room Patricia tried several ways to get me to respond. But no matter what we did I just could not get my powers to work. The only thing that we learned was I was telepathic. I gave up and started walking toward the door. I had forgotten the program was still running when something came at my head. I ducked and manage to block it. That's when I hear Patricia say," Of course I should have though of that."
I turn around and ask," What are you talking about?"
"You were working on instinct there. It means you acted without trying. Right now your powers are lost in your memories so you will have to learn what they feel like as I pelt you with things. I don't want you to try and figure it out right away. Just walk around the room and when you feel your under attack you have to react."
For the next three hours we follow her plans. It takes me twenty minutes to truly get the feel for my different kinetic abilities. Then we work on my metal abilities. Patricia threw a car at me and I dismantled it. Then purely by accident I found out I could heal. I had missed the rock she threw at my head. It wasn't hard enough to knock me out but it caused a scratch that was bleeding. I put my hand over it and sat down once Patricia came over with a wet towel she moved my hand and cleaned it off only to learn it was already healed. Once she double checked to make sure I was okay we ended the testing and practice there. After we went upstairs I went to my room to take a shower then I went back to Patricia's office.
"Okay so do you have enough information to at least start me in some classes?"
"Yes as far as regular school I think we will skip that right now. I think it's better to wait to get your memory back first. We will start training first thing tomorrow. Some of our technical teachers are out for the weekend but you will meet them later this evening. You will be in their classes for a while."
"Okay sounds like a plan. So what do I do now? Can I go back to the room and practice?"
"I would like you to wait on practice until the trainers can asses you themselves. Once that's done you can practice all you want. Today just relax and get to know the other students. Maybe take a nap. Or go for a swim."
"That actually sounds good. I'm not sure if I can swim but I will try."
"There is always a lifeguard on duty so you won't drown. Just have fun. I will check in on you later."
"Okay sounds good, see you later."
After leaving Patricia's office I go to my room and change then I head out to the pool. After goofing off in the water for a while I go back to my room for a nap. I guess I slept better because now I feel more rested. Then I get up and get something to eat. Later that night I sitting in the front room with three other students and Patricia playing cards when the door open. Five people walk in, I don't think much of them since they are probably the teacher Patricia was talking about earlier. Then one of them calls my name. I don't recognize her but in my head I hear screaming. I drop my cards and run to my room.
"Patricia what's going on?"
"Hey you three can you take our new guests to their rooms please?"
"Yes Patricia, follow us guys."
"Janet I told you she has no memory beyond waking up in that hospital. I do know the memories are trying to break threw but it's not going to be easy. Right now from the moment you says her name she is reliving a small piece of the night she lost her mom. All she hears is screaming in her head. Now if you will excuse me I have to show her how to block it. Now would be a good time to call your sister. It might help speed things up. And I will be here to help all three of you"
Janet nods and leaves, then Patricia talks to Logan.
"You should know the nightmares started last night. Her memory is trying very hard to break through. I'm not sure how or if you can help but we have to do something. I told her you would be one of her teachers. Now let's see if you can help me calm her down. Grab a bottle of water and meet me in her room."
After Logan gets the water and meets Patricia at my door she knocks. I tell her to come in because the screaming in my head is only getting worse.
"I can't get it to stop. The screaming is getting louder. How do I make it stop?"
"I know this will be hard to do but you have to relax. You need to let the memory happen. Besides the screaming what else do you hear?"
"Crying and screaming, that's all I hear."
"Close your eyes and focus on the running. Can you tell us who is running?"
"It's dark I can't tell. I feel scared. The screaming is getting louder."
"Okay let's try this, Logan give her the water. Next I want you to take her hand. Once you are comfortable I want you to focus solely on his hand. Look at the lines in it. Just focus on it."
As I focus on Logan's hand the screaming gets lower. I trace the lines in his hand until it stops al together. When it's gone I look up at him and say," Thank you that helped more than you know." I start leaning into him like I'm going to kiss him or something then I pull back and let his hand go. While we sit there and talk about what just happened Janet links with Patricia and tells her they are ready. Patricia sends them to war room A.
Patricia looks at me and says," There is an experiment I want to try. Logan will come with us since you seem to be able to calm down with him. Now let's go to the war room."
As we walk into the room I'm getting nervous. This is nothing of mine. Although I do like the garden area. I walk further in but I didn't notice Patricia and Logan hang back. I walk to a bench and see the girls from earlier. Then I see something strange. I see me but it's not me. Then there is a major pain in my head like a damn is breaking and all of these images start flooding in. After a minute I say,"Amber" then I pass out. Logan picks me up and carries me to my room.
Once he gets me settled he goes to find Patricia. Before he says anything Patricia tells the girls," She is overwhelmed. Her memory has been trying to come back since she woke up but I figured it would take a shock to release it. We will let her rest and see how she is tomorrow. Amber your welcome to spend the night."
"Actually Amber and I both are going back to the house. We need to get a few things together for tomorrow."
"Okay see you tomorrow then."
Once they left Patricia turned to Logan and said,
"Now Logan I'm not sure if her memories of you will come back as easy. She has been having nightmares since she came out of the coma. She trusts you and feels comfortable and safe with you so we will see. Just comfort her."
"I would never push her into anything. I just want her well."
Okay, go to your room, just stay close I will bring you food in a bit."
Logan walks into his room and sits on the bed. He opens the door between our rooms and watches me. A minute later Patricia brings him food then she leaves.
