Behind Shelves | David

   David, shrugs and give me a serious look. "Yes, I am serious. Dead serious, Selene."  

  I then look away and trying to get some fresh air. Para kasi akon nasasakal, nararamdaman ko din ang mabilis na pagtibok ng puso ko.

  Inuuto ba ako nito ni david?

  "You know, it is awkward to ask a lady or a friend like that. So stop with this thing, D-david." I lowered my head ready to threw a word if he disagree.

  But then I heard him laughed. Really loud. Sinasabi kona nga ba eh. Hindi naman masakit, ahahaha.

  "You really think I'll date you?" Napakurap-kurap naman ako sa sinabi niya. Oo nga naman sino ba naman kasi ako.

  "Silly, anyways let me treat you. I miss you, for real." His eyes softened and he hugged me tightly.

  Huminga naman ako ng malalim at niyakap din siya pabalik. I won't deny it, I am hurt on what he said. Nareject na ata ako don, hindi pa nga ako umaamin eh, rejected agad.

  I then saw Steven outside the classroom, crossed arm and looking at us like he is dissapointed. Why?

  I pulled out from the hug and hold David's shoulder. "A-anyways...are you studying here? Or you just went here cause you want to see me?"

  "I just want to see you and I'm thankful that the principal here is my father's friend so he let me in." I nod slowly on what he said.

  Pilit ko namang iniwas ang tingin ko sa kanya, nakakahiya parin noh.

  "Let's go?" He then suddenly hold my hand and I look on it. Hala? Bakit ba ang touchy na niya?

  I then saw Steven leave. Phew!

  He look dissapointed and I don't know why. Maybe because he see me hugging a guy?

  Welp!! I saw him kissing a girl.

  "Yeppp!" I answered and we both went to the parking lot. Hindi nako magtataka if he has his own car and can drive.

  He open the door for me and I sat on the passenger's seat. I saw Steven again, he has this glare look on us and I don't know why. He is really weird.

  David drove to the nearest restaurant. Grabe hindi niya sinabing sa mamahalin pala ang bet nya.

  "What do you want to eat?" He asked me and offer the menu. Wala akong naintindihan sa food name since spanish ata toh and I barely knew french word since I am still learning about it.

  "Wala namana kong maintindihan dito." Tumawa naman ito sa sinabi ko. He then smiled and said something on the lady, maybe he is ordering our food.

  "So...how's life, Korekong?" I raised my brows on him. Wala paring pinagbago, tinatawag niya parin akong ganon.

  "My life?...well, it's fine." I felt bad kasi ang iksi ng sagot ko pero wala naman akong masabi sa kanya dahil nahihiya parin ako.

  Iniwas ko ang tingin ko sa kanya ng tumango-tango siya. He then suddenly hold my chin and make me look on him.

  Halos maduleng ako dahil iniiwas ko parin ang tingin ko sa mga mata niya. He is very close on my face, why he is doing this?

  "Napapansin ko, kanina mo pako iniiwasan. What's the problem?" Napalunok naman ako sa kabang nararamdaman.

  Hindi ko sinasadyang mapatingin sa labi nito. Ang kintab nito, siguro binasa niya ng laway niya. Napakapula at ang kissable, I wonder how it feels like.

  Wait!!

  Why I am thinking like that!?

  I then move away on him and faked a cough.

  "I...I just felt shocked and shy na andito kana, you seem so different, better than before. You know ehehe." I scratched my nape in shame as he nods and smiled on me.

  He looks really hot.

  After a minutes of being quite, our food came and we immediately dig in.

  Grabeeee araw-araw ako magpapalibre sa kanya. Napakasarap ng pagkain.

   Sinulyapan ko naman siya na tahimik na kumakain, tila ba may malalim na iniisip.

  He looks really different. He looks more handsome and fresh, I'm sure many girls is praying just to have a glance from him. Bigla ko namang naramdaman ang pag-init ng pisngi ko.

  He never change. I wonder if my feelings change too or it is still him.

  "Uhm...Ikaw ba? How's your life abroad?" I asked to break the silence. He looked up to me and gulped his food before smiling.

  "The life abroad was too exhausting." I blinked one and twice. I thought he is having his life, enojoying things.

  "My Dad actually died a month ago nung pumunta kami sa Canada. That makes my mom work hard for us, if you only knew how hard it is. Wala akong choice kaya nagtrabaho ako, I invest in so many things, I get failed but then when I remember someone that really loves to write I then keep on going in my life. Soon my mom found a man, he's my Stepfather, he owns a pub—"

  *kringg!! Kringg!!*

  I was too stunned on what he said that I didn't notice that my phone interrupts his pov.

   "Your phone, Selene." He chuckled since I didn't still notice it until he said.

  "Oh! Wait ehehe." I saw my mom called me and asked where I am. I texted him instead and told her that I am with David.

"My mom wants to see you, David. Where's Tita Grace??" I really miss his mom's cookies. It was the best ever food in the world.

  "She's not with me right now." I was confused on what he said.

  "Ako lang yung umuwi dito because I have some business here, My stepfather give me a job so I need to go back here in the Philippines also I really want to see someone." He stared at me, his eyes was full of sparkle.

  Is he pertaining in me?

  No way!

  "Anyways, I'll drive you home. I want to say Hi to tita Melany." I nodded and finished my food.

  He drove us to my house. Sa bungad pa lang ng gate ay andoon na agad si mama. Halatang hinihintay kami.

  "DAVID!!" My mom shouted and hug David. She caress his cheek and smile.

  "Kamusta kang bata ka? How's your mom? Nabalitaan ko pala, I'm sorry about your loss." David nod.

  "Thank you, tita. I will tell mom that you say Hi. It was nice meeting you again."

  "Pumasok ka kaya muna? May hinanda akong pagkain, akala ko kasi uuwi agad si Selene." My mom offered.

  Ano kaba naman ma, nakakahiya.

  "Hindi na po, tita. Next time nalang po. I need to go somewhere pa po eh." Tumango si mama at pumasok nadin sa loob matapos magtanong pa ng kaunti kay David.

Humarap naman ako kay David at nakita ko namang hinawi niya ang kanyang buhok, handa na para umalis.

  "Thank you sa libre, David." Tumango naman ito at nagulat ako ng pinitik niya ang noo ko.

  "Aray!! Bakit mo naman ginawa yon? Masakit ah!" Reklamo ko at hinimas ang noo ko.

  Tumawa naman ito at ginulo ang buhok ko. Bigla namang bumilis ang tibok ko ang tignan ko itong nakangiti sa akin.

  "This is definitely not our goodbye. See you!" Mabilis naman itong pumasok sa sasakyan niya at humarurot paalis.

  Hindi ko maintindihan ang sinabi niya pero gusto ko muli siyang makasama katulad ng dati. He's my bestfriend, my crush, David.
