Chapter 46: Karma

The sketch of the soul eater in the book didn't capture the unsettling horror of its appearance. It looked almost human except it was uncommonly tall at what Kate had to guess to be at least eight feet tall. It was emaciated with gangly limbs. The most terrifying thing was that it had no eyes and it had a wide mouth with razor sharp teeth.

"You didn't tell us it was that big," Jess remarked and she looked terrified. "I was expecting a human-sized creature."

"It was dark when I saw it," Hari replied. "I thought it had been my fear that made it look larger than it was."

"Paint the sigil," Veronica told Genevieve and Hari. "We'll keep the soul eater busy."

Jess's grey eyes were wide in panic. "We are?"

"Draw yourself a weapon, Argent. You're going to need one."

Jess scrambled to pull out a pen and notebook out of her backpack.
