Chapter 44: Mastermind

Theo sat in a holding cell at the station where he was completely alone with his thoughts. The eerie silence reminded him too much of his time in the underworld. When he first returned from the dead, he liked to keep the lights on all the time even when it made it harder to fall asleep. The light meant he was alive and not eternally waiting for something to change.

When he had been stuck in limbo, he had no other thing to do but think. He thought about all the successes he achieved and mistakes he's made. He thought about every memory, good and bad. And he thought about Kate.

Theo thought about his family and friends too. He missed all of them in different ways. It was different with Kate because for nearly a year of his life, he felt all her emotions through the soul bond. He never felt truly alone because of it.
