Chapter 42: Hoax

Theo and Kate were in Cambridge as soon as she got off the phone with Genevieve. They had to wait in Hari and Nathan's apartment as Genevieve and Hari gave their statements to the police. Theo wanted to go see his friends but Kate told him it was too risky. There were already too many deaths that could be connected to them.

Genevieve and Hari eventually left the station. They were wearing new clothes as their torn and bloody clothing had been taken by the authorities for evidence. Even their shoes had been taken. Genevieve barely managed to keep her bag with all of Edric's books.

The two of them looked shaken. Hari took a seat at the kitchen table and hid his face in his hands. Genevieve needed something to do so she put her bag on the couch and made some coffee. Kate helped her.

Theo sat the kitchen table with Hari and asked quietly, "How did it happen?"

"It was some kind of creature," Hari explained. "It didn't have eyes. It just had a mouth with large teeth."

"What else?"
