Chapter 40: Epiphany

The Sables were devastated. They were all still in their pajamas as the authorities came to get their statements. This was a family that was usually put together and composed. It felt odd for Kate to see them so undone and human.

Kate could understand seeing them so unglued. They had lost their paterfamilias. Edric hadn't died of natural causes. He had been desiccated like Penny Halliwell.

The investigators weren't sure if his death was related or just a coincidence.

Theo had been the last person to see Edric alive. They had their chat in the library before Theo went to his room. Edric had said something about having a nightcap. Margot had been asleep in their bedroom and never heard him come in.
