Chapter 18: Begin Again

Kate had been asleep for a week at the hospital. The doctors had told her it was due to extreme magical exhaustion. The ritual this time round had taken more out of her than the first one. The doctors had opted to place her in a medically-induced coma as her magical core recovered.

A specialist from Egypt had to be flown in to check for aftereffects from the ritual. There was residual magic all over the graveyard but mostly found on Kate. She had been the one that had spent time in the underworld without actually being dead. No one knew how that would affect her and her magic in the future.

Her grandparents had been concerned and disappointed in her actions. She had explained to them why she had gone through the ritual.

"I had to at least try to bring Theo back," she said. "If I didn't try, I wouldn't be able to forgive myself."

"We could've lost you," Grams replied. "We didn't know where you were or what you were doing. We wouldn't have been able to help."
