Lydia and I sat in the cave, sharing a modest meal. The dim light of our small fire cast flickering shadows on the walls, and the warmth was a welcome respite from the chill of the underground. Despite the quiet, my mind was anything but calm. Thoughts of Lise kept intruding, a gnawing worry that I couldn't shake.
"We need to find Lise and Aurelia," I said, breaking the silence. My eyes met Lydia's, and I could see my own concern mirrored in her expression.
She nodded, swallowing the last of her food. "You're right. They've been gone too long."
My gaze turned distant, as if trying to pierce the darkness beyond the cave walls. "I can sense Lise's position. I don't know how, but I can."
Lydia blinked, surprised but not questioning my words. "Then we finish eating and get ready. We might be walking into a dangerous situation."
