It was May's trap all along

"Were good looks in the job description because wow! These guys are hot!!" May twirled to check out three suited up Whitehouse security disappearing into a hallway alternate from the one they were on.

"Damn this mask, I bet I would turn this place upside down if I was not wearing it. Do you see how these guys are checking me out?" May rambled on with all smugness.

Thump! Thump! Thump!

"I know what you're going to say. 'They're not checking me out, they're probably curi-"

May fell tongue tied when two more gave them an acknowledging nod as they walked past them going in the opposite direction. A blue eyed one locked eyes with May and she jumped on the opportunity to throw him a flirtatious smile.

"Gosh! Maybe I am a hoe!"

Hold on, Kareena should have scolded her by now. Why-

Thump! Thump! Thump! Thump!

Kareena worked out a calm breath, acting oblivious to her beating heart. But the more she tried to ignore it, the more she felt like it would escape out of her chest. The silly thing thumped even harder as they drew closer to the study they had met Claude the previous night.

"Oh my god! Are you about to have a heart attack? Why is your heart beating so fast?" May whisper shouted.

Damn May and her hearing! Why did she have to choose this particular sense?! She was just about to be caught on her little secret.

Why is this a secret in the first place? And why is her heart acting like this? Annoyance and frustration bubbled up within her. But she could not say anything either.

She grunted out, "You're imagining things."

"I'm imagining things? You're about to burst out my eardrums!"

"It can't be that loud", she disagreed.

"Well I can hear it", she deadpanned. "What's wrong with you?"

To Kareena's luck, they had arrived at the door. She knocked once before walking in. The room was empty.

"You're really getting good at dodging my questions", May complained.

Kareena took out a plastic case where two earpieces lay. She opened it to take one when a fair hand stopped her.

"And ignoring me", May added before she fell quiet, brows furrowing with a concentrative face. Her expression relaxed almost in the next second. "Found them."

"You're still not going to tell me?" May pushed as she led them into another hallway.

"Give me time."

Kareena never made it a habit to hide things from May. But the Claude situation, she needed to sort herself out before explaining herself. Even she didn't understand why she was so nervous when he was just a client she had negative feelings for. If anything, he should be nervous now that he knows her identity and what she could do to him. She actually gave her first time to such a man!!

May's brows went up in surprise seeing the mood change in her friend. Her eyes narrowed in suspicion, "Just to be clear, are you pregnant?"

Kareena opened her mouth to respond but felt her strength seep away. Where did that conclusion come from? Which part of her indicated anything close to pregnancy?

"Alright, alright!" May got her answer without Kareena voicing it. "You sure you're okay?"

"I'm fine."

The two walked past two more rooms before stopping on one. May knocked before helping herself in with Kareena behind.

Cassie was sprawled out on a sofa far gone into dreamland. The poor girl must have been tired from her tight schedule. Kendra gave the two a smile of acknowledgement and relief.

"Oh", she stretched out her arms. "May, I thought you fixed it."

"Fixed what?"

"You told me you found a way to fix K's crankiness. That was when you were in Country S, yeah?" Kendra explained. "One lookat her face and I know her current mood has everything to do with you!"

Kareena glared at the culprit. It really was a trap all along. May took a big step away from Kareena just in case and went on to defend herself. "Don't look at me like that. I did tell you it was for the team. And you", she pointed at Kendra. "Does every mood swing of hers revolve around me?"

"Oh? Then what's with the mood K? Are you pregnant?"

"How could she be when she's still a virgin?" Cassie stirred awake and slowly sat up. May looked at Kareena, pursing her quivering lips. Still a virgin she said?

"I don't know what you did May", Kendra continued. "But it only worked temporarily. Whatever it is, she needs a double dosage of it."

"Pwa ha ha-" May cupped her mouth to stop her laugh. "Believe me, she might be reduced into a comatose should she take IT again. You should've seen-"

Whoosh!

A hard fist came flying in May's direction, aiming for her running mouth. The girl swiftly leaned away and saved herself with barely an inch of space between her face and Kareena's fist.

"And I think that's our cue to leave", Kendra stood up and gestured for Cassie to do the same.

"Cassie, don't you want to swap partners?" May pleaded at the girl.

"Why me?"

"Well, you're the face of many brands. She can't lay her hands on you."

"True... but our Team lead also needs a stress reliever and I think you're perfect", Cassie exposed her pearly whites in a perfect smile.

"You're getting my bonus from this job", Kareena curved her lips up.

"Yes!"

"Ah! Give it to me instead! She has millions already! K?!"

Kareena shooed away a happy Cassie and a complaining Kendra only to be left with a grumpy May. "I should be mad."

"And you're not? Well, I am", Kareena answered as she took in the room.

It was a study as well, a bookshelf taking up one side of the wall, the other housing floor to ceiling windows. A huge screen mounted on the wall and before it, leather seats with coffee table.

Behind the sitting area sat a huge mahogany desk and its executive seat. The desk was clean of any office supplies almost as though no one used it.

"You just equated the value of our friendship to money", May continued, earning a shake of the head from Kareena as she walked towards the window. "Hurtful, but there's a way to make up for it."

"Do I even want to hear this?" Kareena's gaze now took in the scope of the area, security patrolling the area stuck out like a sore thumb on the beautiful landscape.

Security cameras spun in the direction of the movements detected. Could there be any blind spots? Kareena mentally started to play that little game, her eyes quick at work to find them.

"You know what I want. It's simple. Cody."

"Kiss my ass", the girl responded leisurely.

"And I will gladly kiss both your butt cheeks as long as you give him to me. I can do it even now! Bring that ass over here!" She took determined strides over, bridging the gap.

"You..!!" Kareena grimaced at the disturbing image and turned to escape the crazy girl. "Take one more step-.... Uh....."

May stopped at the sight of Kareena's anger morph into awkwardness. More importantly, the girl was not even looking at her.

"I was not sure when to...", A deep magnetic voice resounded from behind May.

She looked over to find Claude standing by the door adjoined to the study they were in. Was that always there?
