A bad taste in men

A soft rustle was heard. Long deinty, perfectly manicured hands fisted the sheets so tight. The person's hands trembled as their knuckles turned white from the vice grip. The rustle was heard again.

In a dimly lit room, a person attempted to move their body whilst in their sleep to no avail. Their body lay limp like a log, not responding to it's master's attempts.

Only their head slightly shook side to side, their perfectly shaped brows knitting. Cold sweat had carpeted their forehead, a drop trickling down their temple.

Gasp!

Kareena's golden brown eyes flew open. Her chest rose and fell, she took deep breaths to calm her erratic breathing. She tested out her body, slowly bringing her knee up, her foot grazing the soft sheets as she did. She sighed out in relief, the paralysis was gone.

Her soft sigh echoed in the room. Her hand wandered under the many pillows on her bed in search of a particular device. The cold feel of her phone soon came in contact with her fingers. She turned on the screen and her eyes fell on the date. The golden brown orbs grew cold at the realization.

She took in the time, it was a little after four. She had barely slept and she knew she wouldn't anymore. Without a second thought, she rolled out of bed and prepped herself for an early morning run.

Her doberman was already by her door when she stepped out. Mistress and dog left for the field where they jogged long enough until the sun was up, erasing the darkness of the night and chilly breeze.

The girl was sweating buckets when she returned. She used the garage entrance that led straight into her kitchen. A pain filled grunt reached her ears when she opened the door. The scene that greeted her eyes was not surprising but still made her frown.

"You saw the culprit", May spoke, stabbing a fork into left over pie.

"Yes", Asher answered with difficulty, hurling his body down and lifting himself with his trembling arms in a push up. "42."

"And you still stayed at the party?" She threw him a deadly gaze.

"Yes..... 44."

"What are you doing in my kitchen?" Kareena disapproved as she prepared drinking water for her dog. "You can have the gym for this."

Asher quickly shook his head in panic when May replied nonchalantly. "I'm hungry."

Kareena finally understood. May dropped her fork on the plate angrily. " This is infuriating to think about!"

"I know I was careless!"

May shook her head and her gaze fell on Kareena who was gulping bottled water. Her eyes narrowed, zeroing in on her prey. "And you, we didn't finish last night's conversation."

"What conversation?" Kareena discarded the empty bottle.

"Don't play dumb with me young lady."

"What's there to explain?" Kareena started tiredly. "Weren't you guys going on about how good looking he is? I was just taken aback, but I remembered he is a client. Plus you know all the men I've had in my life."

"I do know all the men in your life", May agreed, falling into thought as she resumed eating the pie.

Her easily believing Kareena had the latter shocked at her acting skills. Well, she didn't exactly lie, she just omitted part of the truth. A BIG part of the truth which was that he was her one night-

"Except for the guy who practically destroyed you with his thing", she chuckled, seeing Kareena's eyes grow saucers and her face red.

Kareena, in panic, looked between May and Asher, who had suddenly stopped doing the push-ups. He was obviously listening. The boy had grown curious yet disturbed by the revelation. Someone tried to hurt his sister? With a 'thing'? His horror only grew when May continued,

"Voice gone, legs trembling with every step, your neck-"

"May?!"

"What thing?!" Asher suddenly stood, shouting at the same time as his sister. "What is this thing that he used to hurt my sister?!"

May looked between the Trivedi siblings, both furious, but the older one throwing a glare that held a deadly promise. She gulped, forcing down a lump too hard to swallow.

"Don't mind me Asher", she forced out a chuckle. "That was a slip of the tongue, it's actually from a mission. But your sister is fine now. See? Nothing to worry about! Don't mind me!"

"Lies! You've never been careless about details concerning your jobs. This was definitely not a mission. You better start talking! Who is this bastard? And Reena, do you always have to get involved with men that mistreat you? It's always the scumbags! Colby from your senior highschool, who slept with all the girls on the cheersquad to 'make you jealous'", Asher started counting on his fingers. "Trace who was 'the professor's pet' as you called it at your college, Christian who eloped with his step-brother, and now the worst of them all, who is still harassing you after dumping him- Ugh! I don't even- Ugh!"

Kareena's lips spasmed, "Are you done?"

"You're better than that!" The boy lamented in frustration.

"Wow, you really have a bad taste", May shook her head, earning a challenging gaze from Kareena to which she shrugged to.

An angry Asher stormed over at May. "I'm still waiting! Who is he?!"

May looked at her best friend for help who outright ignored her by looking away. But the silent warning was still there. On the other hand, the boy wanted answers. She needed to satisfy both parties.

"Have you had sex yet?" She blinked at him.

"May?!" Kareena scolded at the same time Asher choked on his saliva.

"What? He wants to know", she defended.

"Of-Of-Of course I have", he replied with dwindling confidence and his face growing redder than the apples in the fruit bowl resting on the kitchen counter.

May took one look at him and shook her head. "Nevermind."

"I said I have!"

"Hm...", The girl looked torn for a second before nodding to herself. She leaned into him as though to whisper a sacred truth, "You know you can tell if someone is a virgin with just their face."

"Really?" The boy's eyes grew saucers spelling obvious curiosity. "How?"

"Idiot", she poked his forehead. "As if there's such a thing", she rolled her eyes and forked a bite only to drop it out of frustration. "But seriously, what have you been doing? Uni is practically a play field for easy-"

"May", Kareena warned.

"I went there for school and not to get girls", Asher glared at her with every bit of offense taken. How does he still fall for her tricks?

Kareena nodded in approval at her brother's statement. If anything, she wished he would remain as innocent. But with May around, that was far from possible.

Already, his drinking capacity was better than average for boys his age and he knew deadly combinations that could knock out an elephant yet he still wanted to learn more. The boy was corrupted! Kareena threw a resentful gaze at May.

"Ugh! What's wrong with you? I thought I was your cool role model! Look at me, I made sure I lost my virginity in highschool. By college, I was a pro!" She gloated, eyes full of awe as she reminisced.

"More like a hoe", Asher jabbed before taking off for his life.

"You punk!" An angry May completely abandoned her meal to chase after him. "I went easy on you earlier, but you're really getting it now!"

Kareena exchanged a look with her doberman before she went up to freshen up. She could hear Asher's screams and apologies from somewhere in the house.

"Not the face! Not the face!"

"Oh! But it keeps running into my fist!!" Her maniacal laugh followed.

"Ahh! May you pscho!"

"Say that one more time?!"

"I'm sorryyyy!"

Kareena sighed and disappeared into her room, completely turning a deaf to the two. Her once quiet house was once again filled with noise. At times, she felt like May and Asher were siblings instead, no, brothers to be specific. Well, they might as well be.
