Chapter 48: I Knew You Once Upon a Dream

Knowing is one thing. Experiencing is a whole nother animal. And after experiencing a night like last night, I don’t know how I will be able to pretend that I’m satisfied enough to move on. I wake up to an empty bed and it stabs me in the gut. The ghost of his touch still lingers on my skin as I make a beeline for the bathroom and nearly walk right into Saz's chiseled chest.

“Oh, I’m sorry,” I mumble, standing aside for him to pass.

He nods and retreats back to the room, instantly closing the door behind him. It looks like this will be a morning of silence.

I gather my scattered clothing from around the house and shove it in my bag. The ring from last night sits on the nightstand and I hold it gently in between my fingers. My own version of a glass slipper. I slide it on my pinky and pick up my bag. A modest breakfast sits on the table and I throw my bags on the couch before joining Saz at the table. He sits fully dressed, a scowl plastered on his face.
