Chapter 2: Love

"New day, new me..." Erika mumbled as she climbed the stairs to the roof. 'Well, not really, but whatever.' She thought as she took the last step and reached the door. Upon opening the door, she saw a young girl standing barefoot against the railing. 'Not again...' She thought to herself. "Hey, what the hell are you doing!?" She asked as she quickly walked over to the girl and placed her hand on her shoulder.

"What...?" The girl asked with a teary-eyed expression.

"I asked you what you were doing." Erika responded as she took her hand off of her and placed it on the railing and rested against it.

"Th-that's..." She paused. "I didn't expect anybody to be here, sorry." She said.

"That doesn't answer my question, shorty." Erika retorted.

"Hey! I'm not short, I'm average height for my age!" The girl responded. "But maybe that's why he did it..." She mumbled.

"Did what?" Erika asked as blandly as ever.

"W-well..." She stuttered. "Have you ever been cheated on?" She asked as she leaned against the railing.

"Yep." Erika responded.

"What!? No way, but you're so pretty!" The girl responded.

"Well, people do what they will." She responded blandly.

"Yeah..." The girl responded.

"Wait, don't tell me that's why you're here!" Erika yelled.

"Th-that's..." The girl said timidly.

"God, you're such an idiot." Erika muttered. 'Once again, there goes the mood...' She thought to herself.

"I... I know..." The girl mumbled. "It's just... It hurts so much..." She said as tears formed in her eyes.

"How old are you? Fourteen?" Erika asked as she looked at the girl. She nodded. "That's plenty of time for the pain to fade." She said.

"B-but...!" She spoke.

"If he was willing to cheat on someone like you, he wasn't worth a damn. Besides, you've got folks at home, don't you?" Erika asked.

"Y-yeah..." She said sheepishly.

"Then go talk with them, I'm sure they'd be more than willing to help you through this." Erika said. The girl nodded, then left. 'What was the point of helping her, anyway?' She wondered as she stared off into the sunset. 'I could've just left, so... Why...?' She continued.

"Gah! The mood is all wrong!" She yelled. 'Whatever, I'll just come back tomorrow...' She thought to herself as she turned around and walked to the door.
