Chapter 7

After the blade was bonded to my waist again. I tried to manipulate the magic outside my body with it never touching my body. It worked somewhat, I could pull the magic into my body but I couldn't move it anywhere else. So I eventually went to sleep and I woke up hours later. I ate food, practiced magic and rarely slept.

After 5 days of this cycle a guard walked by and told me to follow him. He unlocked the cell and I started to follow behind him. On the way we passed many cells and he led me to a cage in the middle of a coliseum. They lock me inside the cage and run out of the arena. In the 4 cardinal directions, people announce what is going to happen.

"This gladiator uses a special power called magic. Will be fighting against nature itself, the most powerful lion ever, who has even killed humans before!"

"Nemean Lion! NEMEAN LION!"

"YES the lion that the god hercules killed with just his club, I give you NEMEAN!"

Wait, didn't Heracles kill the Nemean lion? As I'm wondering about this a lion is released into the ring. It looks slightly malnourished as its skin is slightly sticking to its bones. It doesn't look like it's groomed itself in a while, so it looks very dirty. But in all it doesn't look like it would be impervious to projectiles. So I'll check, I pick up a stone and hurl it at the lion, it hits the lion in the shoulder. The lion takes a step back with a slight growl.

So it's a fake, not gonna lie I was a little excited to fight a mythical beast. Guess I shouldn't be, but how do they know this tale did it really happen? Or did someone introduce it? The lion suddenly charges at me while I'm thinking.

Time slows and I leap out of the way and do a roll. Quickly reorienting myself I stand and unsheath my tachi. The lion charges again like a bull and I channel gravity magic into my hand. I jump up, release the magic and go flying by the lion leaving a long slash wound on its body.It howls in pain and the crowd cheers. Oh right I was told to put on a show! I sheath my tachi and run at the lion, it goes into a rage seeing me run at it.

It charges me again, I jump out of the way and change my magic to fire magic. I charge up a fireball and hit the back of the lion's back right leg as it passes me. The lion starts to limp as it turns towards me. I walk towards it and it charges me again. I wait for it to get close and jump. I land on the lion's back holding on by the lion's mane. I slowly sit up on the lion, my feet locked on the lion like it's a horse.

I then yell for the lion to stop when it doesn't, I burn it. I yell again and the lion starts to try to shake me off, so I lock my legs more and burn it again. This time the lion fell to the ground in pain. After it hits the ground I stop burning it. It tries to stand up again a few seconds later so I burn it again. This time it stays on the floor not getting up at all.

I raise my hands into the air and the crown erupts with applause. After a while I get led back past the cells to an altar underground and put in a cage. Multiple older people walk in and take seats around me and start to talk to one other. A man walks next to the cage I'm in and claps his hands loudly. All of the older people face him attentively.

"We will now begin the bidding! Starting at 5 gold coins!"

"10!" "25" "25! Sh*t!" "35" "50" "55" "57" "63" "75!"

It ended with someone playing 75 gold coins which I have zero idea if it's a lot. I'd assume so being the magic I used, but people are weird. The person who bought me was a man who looked to be in his early 40's. Everyone leaves except him while he talks to the auctioneer and stays a bit after. He walks up to me and says.

"You will be my daughter's bodyguard so make sure if I die, she succeeds my title."

"You want me a person who you've never met to take care of your daughter, when you have no idea how I became a slave?"

"Yes I trust my judgment of Character."

The man walks away and I can't help but wonder if people can get dementia in their 40's. Either that or he's stupid, but really what if I became a slave because I raped somebody's daughter? Or I killed a nobleman and hate them to the core? He has no idea, all he should know is that I enjoy killing people which does not leave the best impression on someone.

Maybe he's taking a risk or he really wants her dead. But if she's not a brat it might be fun to train her. Depending on who's trying to kill her, there may be a few good fights! Plus if she's young I'll just teach her to not treat me like a slave, or even make me her knight. Then I'll be set, I can go to wars for her and get paid!

Maybe she can be the first ruling queen of notso Rome! And I can get some action! Not sex. Real action! They will probably also let me test my magic on people so see how it works. Maybe I'll really be able to imbue people? Well this is mostly a win and if it's not I can probably just leave. I doubt many people could fight against me and if they could, that would be better! So it's a total win minus the slavery part!
