Chapter 38: First 8

The whole building began to shake as strong energy was emitting from beneath the building.

The building immediately collapsed as Tahara and the rest were caved in.

"Are they dead?" Vossler asked As he looked around.

Soon, Vossler could see that a barrier was surrounding them.

"They placed a barrier on themselves after the impact to prevent themselves from getting killed," Vossler said.

The barrier was lifted as Haru informed everyone to get rid of the low-Rank swordsmen and magic users and close the gates before the higher ranks would appear.

One of the lower ranks quickly spotted the Tahara and his group still alive as they all raced toward them.

Tahara without any sword decided to try out the bow of Thiamut but he lost fingers so holding the bow and arrow would be a problem.

Tahara called out Maris as Tahara withdrew the bow from his inventory. He handed the bow over to Maris and told him to aim for the lower ranks.

Maris collected the bow and then shot an arrow at the lower ranks they all exploded.

Samon had to cover his ears since the explosion noise was louder than the normal sound he listens to.

"How the hell did he get this?" Maris asked after shooting the arrow.

"This could cost around 2 million yen," he said.

Maris fired another shot at the lower ranks they all exploded but more kept on coming.

Maris fired another two more arrows and then the last one as they all exploded.

"Impossible!" Vossler said as he was about to raise his hand but was cut off by Haru as he threw his sword at his hand.

Vossler's hand then regenerated as it came back to normal.

Regeneration!

Vossler then used his technique as the chains came from beneath the ground and ready to attack Haru.

But Haru managed to deflect all the chains Vossler called out and unleashed his technique.

Haru used his technique on Vossler as he lost 5 of his fingers and then kicked him as he fell.

"You managed to cut my fingers, that's impressive," Vossler said as his fingers regenerated.

"Let me repay the favor," he said.

Soon the chains then appeared beneath the ground as they were all situated in one place.

The chains then grew into a multitude as they were all attacked by Haru.

"It's fast, it won't allow me to unleash my next technique," Haru said.

"You can't escape the cutting-edge slash old man," Vossler said as he was controlling his chains.

"I've got to find a way of unleashing my technique," Haru let out.

Haru then m began to run around as the chains were still following him.

"You can't escape," Vossler yelled.

As soon as leaped in the air, the chains were about to pierce him and then he disappeared.

"He disappeared?" Vossler said.

Sword Technique

With this technique, Haru was able to cut throw Vossler's chains.

"The chains broke, but how?" Vossler said.

Haru then dashed in front of Vossler and cut off the left arm of Vossler.

"I'm going to regenerate," Vossler yelled but to his surprise, he didn't regenerate. Vossler began to ask himself why he couldn't regenerate.

Haru walked towards Vossler and asked him if he remembers this technique. Vossler's memories then went back to their childhood days when their father was using this technique when he was fighting an enemy.

"How did he memorize it?" Vossler asked himself.

Haru looked up and saw Maris still eliminating the lower ranks with Tahara's bow arrows.

Haru walked towards Vossler and ordered him to close the gate since he was the one who opened it.

Vossler replied to Haru telling him that he no longer has control of the gate anymore.

Haru and Yui were surprised when Vossler said that he had no control.

Haru threw his sword as it pierced Vossler's clothes.

"In any case, you are going to die here," Vossler said.

"He will come for you guys soon," Vossler said to them.

"Who is 'he'?" Tahara asked.

Vossler then kept quiet as Tahara kept on questioning who Vossler meant by him.

Miyaguchi began to open her eyes as Juba alerted everyone that she was awake.

Haru asked Miyaguchi if she could close the gate.

Miyaguchi looked at the gate as he said some words as the gate began closing.

Everyone came to see her as Tahara was the last person to leave.

When he took one step, a sword had been stabbed at Tahara's back.

Tahara turned around and noticed that Vossler had stabbed him with a special kind of knife.

Juba turned to call Tahara again and noticed that Vossler had stabbed Tahara.

Juba screamed as everyone turned and noticed Tahara on the ground.

Vossler then escaped as Kunimichi wanted to chase after him but Haru stopped him since it was no use in going after an injured guy.

As the gates were closing, 8 higher ranks managed to come out of the gate but no one noticed that.

Finally, the gate was closed as Mr. Tomomi and Mr. Egawa arrived at the scene they carried Tahara and decided to take him to the hospital.

"There's no need!" Tahara said as his body vanished.

Tahara then appeared behind Tomomi and patted him.

"But how!" Kunimichi asked.

"Concealing!" Tahara replied.

Tahara explained how the technique works and showed them a couple of tricks.

"Alright, it's time to leave," Haru said.

"No higher ranks arrived then," Yui said.

The group began to leave and all of a sudden, the area began to shake.

"What's going on?" Tahara asked

The sun's rays then fell as Tahara's skin began to burn.

Tahara went to his inventory and withdrew the Shield of Dormane as he used it to protect himself.

"Just what the hell, 8 higher rank escaped," Tahara said.

Tahara then sensed the presence of something approaching.

Tahara alerted everyone to stay alert as he informed them that something was approaching.

After a short while, the 8 higher ranks appeared before them.

"The 8 higher ranks during Miyaguchi's ancestral time," Haru said.

"I thought they were 20," Kunimichi asked.

The 8 higher ranks then showed themselves before Tahara's group and then left.

Finally, the sky became clear as the area stopped shaking.
