The girl's eyes trembled as she looked at the woman, lying on the floor within her home and she covered her mouth so that she wouldn't make any sound and just then, she noticed they turned towards the backdoor and her eyes widened.
Before the girl could run, someone grabbed onto her and when she turned around, she saw it was a young man, who came over often to their home and worked under her father, in the army.
He pulled her with her into another home and closed the door as she stared at him and the family members of that home, looked at her with pitiful smiles on their faces.
"Don't worry, we are not going to say anything, here calm down, you are still not safe but stay calm," The woman said as she handed her a cup of water and she took it, then thanked her.
"I don't believe what they are saying about your father either, but we cannot do anything about it right now, they have power and we don't, not everyone is gifted with power, money and those magical abilities, that's why, for your father's sake, you have to survive, you cannot stay here for much longer, you need to leave this kingdom," He said and she began seeing double.
"What's wrong?" He asked as he looked at her.
"I think the child is too exhausted to go much further, she is tired," The woman responded and the young man's brows furrowed as he looked at her.
"Adiria, for your father's sake, you have to run, don't look back, he tried to make it back home...." He said and her eyes widened as she looked at him and he smiled at her.
"Come on, I will take you the way you need to go in order to leave this place," He added as she looked at him.
"If they catch you, they will call you a traitor, they will kill you right then and there," The woman said and she lowered her gaze then patted him on his shoulder and he glanced at her.
"It's okay, thank you for telling me and helping me, but I don't want another person dying either, I will make it out of here alive, that I promise, rest easy and don't let them see you with me, live your life, Caleb," She replied and the young man smiled at her.
Just as he was about to say something else to her, the soldiers began knocking on the door and they flinched then she held onto her bag tightly and Caleb glanced at her.
"I will go now, thank you, for believing in my family, I hope I will see you again, someday, Caleb," She said and his brows furrowed as he looked at her then nodded.
Before the soldiers could enter the home, Adiria ran out and one of them, spotted her running towards the forest, which had another path, leading out of the city.
After seeing her, he called out to the others and they began chasing her, while Caleb and the family, looked at her from a distance, with worried eyes.
That night, Adiria ran as fast as she could through the woods, which she seemed to know better than the soldiers, that were chasing her.
She was tired and wanted to stop but the minute she got that feeling, the thought of her father dying as well as Maria and the others came to her mind, which only made her angrier and determined to survive, no matter what came befire her but she had no idea, where that determination in her came from.
Just as the girl was running, she remembered that the woods had magical creatres and her feet slipped on a hilly area, causing her to roll down and crach into a large tree trunk, which had spiky vines near it, that pierced it and she grunted.
"Damn it... I am not going to go back... Never," She mumbled as she stood up then looked up, at the moon light that shone brightly on her and her eyes shimmered.
The girl kept on running and her brows furrowed, when she sensed something was watching her from nearby but at the same time, arrows came flying her way and she gasped then increased her pace, even though she was getting more tired, by the minute.
"Damn it... I am starting to feel dizzy and they are catching up..." She mumbled as her pace slowed down and her eyes narrowed as she was about to arrive in an open area.
Just when she noticed a few of them had caught up with her, her eyes widened but they began hearing a growling sound and from the woods, dashed the wolf-like creature, she met before and they gasped as he began attacking them and she left staring at what was happening.
"You..." She mumbled as the creature turned towards her with its eyes glowing and an arrow came her way, but the creature jumped up, hitting it away with its tails, while growling as more men were on their way.
The creature showed her which direction to go n and as she ran off, he dashed after her, why it was helping her, that she didn't know but yet took its help, for it was the only one she had at that moment.
The girl looked back, then came to a halt, since she couldn't move anymore and as sore in many different places, the area she was in, had a cliff before her and a river down below along with a forest and she sighed.
"I don't know how much longer, I can hold out," She mumbled as some of the men arrived where she was.
"Just surrender and we won't hurt you," One of them said as she began losing consciousness and the creature glanced back at her with its eyes narrowed.
"Move away from the edge-" One of them said, when she fell back, after falling unconscious and they gasped.
The creature dashed forward, going after her and its tail wrapped around her stomach but at the same time.
The bracelet that was left behind, began shaking, while glowing and it took off on its own, as though it had a mind of its own.
"Am I going to die?" She mumbled as her eyes opened a little.
Just then creature sensed something coming towards them and he glanced at the bracelet, which stretched as it wrapped around her neck and began glowing brightly.
"What's that sensation?" Adiria mumbled as a large magical marking appeared behind her and within a flash of light, both she and the creature disappeared.
