Chapter 19 Enter of Your Own Free Will

Grace’s POV

“I don’t remember this ever being here,” Jack mumbled and for the first time since knowing him, there was a hint of unease in his tone. Which, considering he was the apex predator, in this case, made me wonder if we should be running for our lives right now…

The house in front of us was an old Victorian-looking house, with a witch-hat roof and everything. Not to mention that it was enormous! As in I’d seen castles smaller than this! It was painted a soft white color, but in places, the painting was falling off and the weed in front of it reached the windows in some places. But in the dark and with the downpour, I didn’t care if it was haunted!

I just wanted to get out of this rain!

“At least someone’s home,” Jack mumbled in his usual way, gesturing to one of the windows in the attic. I followed his gaze and sure enough, there was a light coming from there. It was soft and seemed to flicker in the wind, making me believe that it most likely came from a candle.
