Fourth Time's A Charm

Adrian Huh, I snapped out of it and look around me to see Stephano, Nathan, Bruce, and the newest addition that I don't fully trust Martin all seated waiting for me, and by my side is my trusted aide and best friend Dave “Ok let's begin, we are gathered here today because we've agreed to work hard to solve the mystery surrounding my father's death and unfortunately we are as close to finding something as Harry is to having a beard”. We all laughed because my younger brother is such a baby, well a mean baby but someone has been curbing him surprisingly, Harry is just approaching 23 but he's still young and childish, so he can't be here, he also can't know the truth. I was about to tell them to get serious when she burst in through the door knocking from it's hinges, wow, she looks angry but she made me angrier for wrecking this door, this is my grandma's favorite room in all of Lidapton, she's not going to be happy. “Adrian, I can take so many things but this, those tiny small brats have been disrespecting me, brats that even Chloe can handle without battling an eye, not only that but the maids as well but I simply ignored all of that because I came to Lidapton to get experience but.... I didn't let her finish before yelled in anger “Aisha leave this room this instant! there's an important meeting going on and your obstructing it, I don't have time for your temper tantrums, you'll do what is asked of you, and you'll leave when I tell you too”. I obviously said this because we were in an important meeting and she has been complaining about everything and I just couldn't take it anymore. Everywhere was quiet, the tension hung thick in the air, everyone watched with bated breath to find out what she'll do, everyone in the room knows her and her strong tendencies. While, the tension was getting thicker, a small laughter broke the silence, it was small at first but then it became a full blown laughter, I couldn't believe it, why was she laughing, she immediately came to stand in front of me, she poked my chest in a very painful way and looked even more furious than before. “Listen and listen good Mr Lidapton, I'm many things but I don't take orders and no one, absolutely no one has the right to command me”. She stopped after saying that and I thought she was done but. “Yoy maybe taller than me but that doesn't make me short, I may have no choice but to look up to you but do remember, (she forcefully pulled me down while tightly holding my collar)“I can make you look down to me, (it took me a while to understand that she had pulled me down so of course I look down[Lower than her or her level]to her, it was obvious, she was threatening me, she left my collar and headed for the door but Dave stepped in just in time to whisper something to her, she stopped, turned to stare wide eyed, she looked adorable, then she made a weird face that made me want to laugh so hard and mouthed “I'm sorry” and just left. I signalled Dave and he told me he what he told her, “I told her you were having a small gathering for your friends”. Bruce was the first to speak “It looks like yours will be the hardest to handle” “Yes,(sigh) it will be”.

Into The Daylight

Ayle, we've been out here for days. So far we've seen nothing. You're supposed to teach us to survive out here. Specifically how to survive in areas of civilization, not the wilderness." Dr. Palvo's gaze bore into me as she tried to hide her panic. If she really knew me, she would know that her efforts were useless "We all know that you are the only one who knows where we are, so tell us the truth. Are we really headed towards civilization?" I stayed quiet "No?" She threw her arms into the air "Then where the in the Hell are we going?!" I turned away from her and continued walking "We're going to find my sister" ****************************************************************************** The world as civilization knew it came to an end over a century ago. Life is now restricted to a single continent where humanity has changed. Those who survived on the outside of bunkers and compounds constructed by governments from around the world evolved while those on the inside remained the same. On the Outside everything was chaos while Compounds kept order. Now with space and resources becoming limited within Compounds they must learn how to live in the foreign world outside the safety of their bunker. Survival on the outside; however, would not be a walk in the park. The only way to survive on the outside was to learn to become one of the foreigners they feared, and who better to teach them than the Outsider they'd caught wandering near their bubble of safety?

Impressive work! Having delved into bits of the prequel, I found the storyline easy to follow, and I think Avatar fans would vibe with it effortlessly. But even for those unfamiliar, it holds its own as a captivating read. It's so good, it could easily be a blockbuster movie. And for those who relish rich story details, this book is a treasure trove. Kudos on a job well done!

Always been a fan of the avatar series ever since I was young. I thought I was taking a gamble by reading a fan fiction but it was surprisingly done well. The writing as well makes it easier to understand! Keep up the good work!

First of all, I love Avatar. It's one of my favorite anime. I watched it when I was young, very young, and I still watch it when I remember the name...Like yesterday I was watching Thunder Cats. You may find it funny, but let me tell you, if you rewatch a story you will discover things you have never noticed before. The only thing that dragged the ratings down was the slow update, otherwise, I would have given it a 5. Right from the beginning you sense the tension building up. I haven't read the first novel of this series so, I may not know many things. But you get to sympathize with the underdog. The rebel remnant - who got a beatdown from the soldier showed the spark of rebellious spirit. There are so many layers of ideas here. You wage a war and win, you become the hero, you lose you become a slave prisoner. There is no good or evil in a war. It only has sides. One that wins and the other one that loses. Once a mighty kingdom may become a mere puppet that follows the order of the one controlling the puppet. This is how the world order is. In the eyes of the winners who defended against invaders, the Invading power is evil. In the eyes of the Invaders, the defenders are just hoarders of resources and other things that could help improve the lives of the Invading kingdom. The Colonization. The story promises a great struggle from the perspective defeated power of Fire Nation. From what I gleaned from the story so far, it seems that the your rebel has something to say to us. I love the way the story is moving. I love the character but I will try not to be judgemental before rewatching the anime and reading the first book... If you haven't read the 1st novel, please, do so. And do come back for this story. It's amazing.

You have an excellent piece of work here. I read parts of the prequel, so I wasn't lost. But I think anyone who has ever taken an interest in Avatar will find it easy to understand Even if not, it's an interesting book on its own. It's good enough to be adapted into a movie. Also, for readers who love long, juicy story details, you'll definitely get your time and money's worth here. Great job overall👍

I have always been a big lover of the avatar and I was instantly intrigued by this fan fiction. The writer's skills have certainly improved over time and the book is simple and enjoyable, just the way I like my books. I am hoping it will be longer than your last book, really great work.

Great sequel you're doing here, I noticed a improvement of your writing from the other one. The characters as like the other are really enjoyable. The only point here to improve is the writing (grammar) and it would be good to improve the World Background. I now that's a fanfic based in another world, however for a first reader it would be great to have some context. All in all, keep the good work :)

If you're looking for a new story to enjoy related to the Avatar Universe, this is a great place to start. Lingering Tensions is the sequel to the "Avatar: Macai's Journey (AMJ)" but it does a good job of creating a fresh new feel and tone for readers. Similar to how each season of AMJ felt different, you are in for a different experience with this one. While AMJ had more of a "grey" tone, this story has a "darker" vibe to it. AMJ was a story about an anti-hero who had a villain role due to upbringing. It showed how the "bad guys" aren't always as "bad" as they seem (because they often just grew up differently and could change). This story is about the "real" bad people who know that they're bad. But they choose to stick on their path because it is all they have ever known. Anyone is capable of going on this path of vanity. Denial and stubbornness are usually the first steps to vanity. Characters are fleshed out as usual, moral lessons are active, and an epic adventure awaits.

The story is mainly followed by an easy dialogue which narrates the plot well. Keep up the good work author!!

The writing is pretty easy to go through, and there are no ongoing words or dialogue.

I thought I could read more but, you only have one chapter until now. The writing is good and concise. I didn't find any unnecessary or long-winded explanations or dialogues. I appreciate the 'show, don't tell' in the first chapter, if not it would be monotonous.
