Humm... Must be the Wind

"Grr…" groaned a man with dark hair as he rubbed his head.

The man then turned around. Dark cell with a light shining through the iron bars, surrounded by four concrete walls, with chains attached to both his hands and feet, taking away his movement to move.

"Where am I?" mumbled the man aloud, questioning where he was.

The last thing he remembered was going to bed and dreaming of talking to a red orb, calling itself will of something.

The man tried to move, but unfortunately, he realized he was chained to the ground, feeling his hands cuffed and the sounds of chains moving.

'What?' He questioned whether this was another dream, but feeling pain in his muscle joints and the weight of chains made him realize this was not a dream.

"What the fu'ck?" He cursed quietly.

His first thought was to scream, but he kept his mouth shut for fear of his captives hearing him awake.

'Okay, Fendrick… Calm yourself; you need to find a way to escape' He told himself.

The man, now Fendrick, sat down on the floor to devise a plan to escape. He looked around, but he couldn't find anything which could help him escape.

'How is Amelia?' He questioned again after finding there was nothing to help him escape.

He was worried about his wife Amelia, who could be kidnapped with him. He is scared that the kidnapper will do something to his beautiful wife, as he knows his fellow species' cruelty.

Taking a deep breath, he closed his eyes to find any other way to escape; he tried to break the chains without making noise, but unfortunately, he couldn't do anything.

With a calm mind and steady breath, he opened his eyes. He then saw a clock in the corner of his eye and some things he didn't understand.

It surprised him to see a floating clock in the corner of his vision, which seemed to be moving where he was looking.

'Was the dream true?' He idiotically questioned himself, believing he might be isekaied.

Shaking his head, he thought, 'System?'

Fendrick received no response, then used many other words like status or menus, but unfortunately, he again received no response.

*sigh*

Fendrick sighed, thinking he made himself a dumb'ass.

At the right corner of his eye, he saw a circle with three dots lined up vertically, resembling a menu symbol in windows.

He thought of pressing it, and suddenly the same screen in his dream appeared in his vision.

'So that wasn't a dream' He grimly thought.

Tears started coming from his tears, thinking about his family and newly married wife.

Amelia, his recently married wife, is a beautiful woman he loved dearly.

Fendrick shut his mouth with his hand to stop his cries as he is grieving.

After crying for a while, he checked the quest tab.

Escape from the prison

Reward: A once-in-a-lifetime change to summon someone from outside Aetherius and a spell tome you desire.

============

He was intrigued by the quest system and its reward. Then he opened the inventory, which had three items.

A note which says

"Forgive me for tricking you into things you were dreaming, as it is the only way. It took a lot to summon your soul, and my remaining energy will run out soon, and I will cease to exist. You are in a different world, and there is no way of going back to your previous life, as even I can't do it in my prime.

Even if you somehow were able to go back to your world, the time runs very differently compared to your world.

With my last remaining energy, I saw the life of your wife.

Your wife grieved, finding you dead in her bed. She never remarried anyone, but she found her happiness as a matron in a large orphanage, raising kids until her remaining days.

I will leave everything to you Aurbis, Lord of the Void."

Finished reading her note, and both caused him to feel happy and sad. It is sad to hear he could never see his wife again, but he felt pleased that she found happiness later in her life. It was surprising to hear she didn't marry anyone else, but he also felt a small genuine appreciation for her.

The other two books were,

『Flames』: A gout of fire that does 8 points of damage per second. Targets on fire take extra damage.

『Healing』: Heals caster 10 points per second.

『Consume the Spell Tome?』 Pressing the button again, the books then disappeared, and suddenly, Fendrick was hit with an influx of information from the basics of magic to how to use both spells.

It was neither painful nor uncomfortable; it felt as if he recalled something he had forgotten, and now it came back.

"{Flames}" Fendrick said, and suddenly runes appeared floating in his plans, and a stream of fire started spewing from his hand.

Fendrick felt magic in this world is a gigantic puzzle, where one needs to connect the dots in specific patterns, hand movements, and the right amount of Magicka to cast a spell.

The information he got is complex master spells need hand movement to create a large rune with magic to cast it, and of course, you would need to have the capacity to cast such a spell, or it would take your vitality as a price.

Feeling it was enough, he stopped the spell. As he casts the spell, he realized something inside him was running out. Quickly looking at his right corner, he released the blue bar, for Magicka is close to running out.

It was neither strained for his mind nor was it tiring. Instead, it just felt like something was leaving his body. It was hard to explain; an example would be water spilling out from the palms of his hands and feeling empty.

Focusing the energy in his body, he felt it was slowly filling back, noticing the blue bar was also slowly filling back to full, it wasn't hard to guess that the spell he would be doing would take a certain amount of Magicka, and he needed to wait to fill his Magicka.

Waiting for a couple of minutes, he used {Flames} again, but this time he used it on the hook of the chain tied to the ground.

After using {Flames} a couple of times, he used his strength to make the chains stretch and finally tore them apart. Using the spell has also learned his own fire didn't hurt him.

He got up and realized that he was in torn rags. Making his way to the iron bars, he bent forward to see through if there were any people outside guarding him.

Seeing that they were none, he used {Flames} on the joints of the iron bar and used his other hand to pull them away without making a sound.

"Why are we even guarding that thing?" came a voice from one of the rooms to his left.

Fendrick was exploring his prison to find an exit without alerting any people. Luckily, he didn't meet anyone until now. His prison almost looked like a medieval time.

In front of him is the exit, but also towards his right is a room with a door open and two people inside.

"Shut up. If the Warlock heard you call him that, he would turn you undead. That… Half-Breton-Dragon was created by the blood of a dragon left on the Western Watchtower near Whiterun. And he is very important for the Thalmor." replied another man.

Fendrick's heart started beating in fear. He realized that he needed to fight them to escape. There is no way that the door would be unlocked, holding a prisoner inside.

He also learned that he was created by a Warlock, who used the blood of a dragon.

He now knows where he got the unique power Dragonskin; it was from his other race, Breton, who are also 25% resistant to magic.

"Come, let's check on him. He should be awake by now, or we can beat him awake to feed him" said the man inside the room.

*Gulp* Fendrick gulped down in fear. He knew that the two people were coming out, and they would see him, as it was just a long hallway from his cell to the exit.

'Fuck' he cursed as he heard the step becoming louder, meaning they were almost near the door. Where he will be caught if they turn left.

Suddenly he released 'The Quest rewards!'

Quickly opening the menu and quest tab, he pressed the button to accept with a thought. After looking in the inventory, he saw a ticket and a blank spell book.

Then he clicked on the spell book while thinking 'Help me stop them'

『Paralysis Rune』: Place a rune on a surface that can paralyze anyone who steps on it for 3 seconds. Chance to fail above 30 levels than yours.

'That it' Fendrick congratulated himself, finding a way through the mess.

Fendrick didn't bother using the ticket to summon; the explanation was vague, meaning he could summon someone who could either save him or kill him. So he took his chances on the spell tome he would get and decide.

"{Paralysis Rune}" He quickly cast a rune outside the door. A large green rune appeared on the ground.

The sound attracted two people, and when they made their way outside the door, the rune underneath exploded into green smoke, paralyzing both of them.

Fendrick quickly took the sword to the first man's waist, hoping to scare them. But in the corner of his eyes, he saw the second person twist; the person's hands started twisting and slowly made their way to the sword on his waist.

'Shit, he might be level 30+' Fendrick thought.

Fendrick, in panic, dashed with the sword in his hand and pierced the second person in the heart. Fendrick didn't realize he killed someone he considered a human being.

"W-" came a voice behind Fendrick.

Which caused Fendrick to turn around quickly and scream "{Flames}"

Large steam of flames came out of his hands, causing the victim to roll on the ground screaming while fmales coming out of Fendrick's hand burned him.

Fendrick chose this opportunity to quickly shove the sword in the stomach of the person screaming on the ground.

Stopping his spell, he backed off, taking the iron axe of the person he stabbed in the heart.

When the spell stopped, the person on the ground looked toward Fendrick in fear. Then, before dying, he uttered, "You can use magic?"

Both the guards had no knowledge that Fendrick could use magic, which led to their doom.

Fendrick searched the two bodies for keys with bloodied hands. After finding the key, he used it on the main door. He praised himself for not making a stupid move, like running at the door without knowing it was locked and get stabbed in the back.

Opening the door, Fendrick saw he was on top of what looked like a tower, with stairs to his left going down and nighttime, which was convenient.

Walking down the stairs, he saw another person patrolling. He decided to sneak rather than fight him, not to alert everyone patrolling outside.

With the thought of the world 'sneak' he unconsciously felt his body relax, and his breath turned almost silent.

He already has to sneak leveled to 15, which helped him sneak, reaching the bottom floor without alerting anyone.

After reaching the ground floor, he made his way to the edge of the wall. He saw two people guarding the entrance while another person was patrolling on top of the exit.

'Right about now' as Fendrick thought, loud explosions of green mist were happening throughout the tower.

The two guards rushed toward the nearest explosion to investigate.

Unfortunately, the person on top didn't leave, with caused Fendrick almost to curse out loud. But he does notice the guard on top was paying attention to the explosions, not looking at the entrance/exit.

Fendrick then snuck around the wall.

"Huh?" came a voice on top of the tower.

The person then looked around and said, "Must be the wind"

Fendrick, who was underneath the guard, calmed his heart, then made his way outside after hearing the footsteps of that person walking away.
