A Momentary Peace
I was now sitting ontop of some boxes as I looked up on the sky as I remembered what happened after we went down
We, except for Mikasa and Armin were asked to leave and we were give a confidentiality order, it consists of not telling about Eren's titan and what they are currently doing with the three
I tried to stay back and help them out even if they didn't need to but Jean and Reiner held me and dragged me out of there before I got in trouble
And so results in my current situation
I sighed as I tried to think of ways to make sure that Eren gains control when he transforms so that less people will die
The reason lost control of his Titan in the anime might be because of that he had an argument with Mikasa or because he was not thinking of the goal clearly...
'But I resolved the argument of the two so things should be fine now right...? No, I need to make sure things work out properly... I need to somehow to somehow get into the elite squad that will protect Eren... And maybe teach him how to transform... Secretly without revealing myself of course, if I showed up without disguise and told him about it then I would be taken into interrogation until I spit out all I know and causing my friends to lose their trust in me as well'
Hmm... How can I get in the elite squad...?
If only someone can recommend me to them... Someone with a high position...' I thought as I brainstormed
After thinking for a while, nothing came to mind as I sighed deeply
I will most likely get assigned to the decoy squad so I won't be able to monitor Eren... Ugh... How can I get in...?
'If Eren fails to gain control immediately then more people will die but if Eren controls it immediately then less people will be sacrificed...'
I kept on brainstorming before I heard someone sit next to me
"What are you thinking so deeply about?" I opened my eyes as I saw Annie
"Hello to you aswell... And I was just reminscing about something" I said as I looked at Annie
"I see" Annie said as she stayed quiet
I waited for her to speak again but seeing that she was still quiet I couldn't help but ask
"That's it?" I blurted out
"What is?" Annie spoke in indifference as she looked at me in confusion
"That's all you wanted to ask?" I said as I looked at her wryly
"Yeah? Do you want me to ask something else?" Annie said as she looked at me confusedly
"I thought you came here to talk to me about something else..." I said
"Well I'm not" Annie said as she looked at the sky again
I did so as well as we stayed quiet once more
'This is so awkward...' I internally thought
After a few moments Annie spoke up
"About Eren being a titan... Do you think he will be accepted by humanity?" Annie suddenly asked
I got surprised with her random question
"Where did that come from? Well I think it depends on him if he can convince them that he is humanities ally I guess..." I said as I thought of what she said
"I see... Then what if he has killed humans? Would he still get accepted?" Annie asked
"Hmm... Well that would be hard... But I guess that as long as he contributes a lot for humanity then we won't have any choice but begrudgingly accept him I guess, though it would be impossible to those affected I guess? Anyway what's with this rethorical questions?" I asked her, I had some idea why but I wasn't completely sure
"It's nothing, anyway I'm gonna check on the others see you later August..." Annie said as she stood up and walked away
'Atleast tell a better lie... You, checking up on others? Hell must be frozen over first before that happens...' I thought wryly
Anyway soon I went back to looking at the sky as I brainstormed once more...
But someone decided to interrupt it again and standed infront of me...
"Hey... Christa, what's up?" I wryly smiled as I asked
"I was just checking up on everyone since everyone is pretty affected by what happened..." Christa spoke to me as she spoke in a positive tone
"I see... You sure are kind Christa, so I'm assuming you're gonna check on me next?" I said as I laughed a little
I patted the box next to me to give her the signal to sit next to me
She realized this and sat next to me
"So how are you feeling...?" Christa talked after a few moments
"I'm feeling fine, a little tired but otherwise fine" I assured her
"That's good... But I'm not talking about that, are you feeling mentally fine after seeing all our comrades die and seeing the titans eat them?" She spoke in concern
She truly is kind... She is worrying about others more than herself... Though I wish she would abandon that mentality and live for herself
Even without relying on my future knowledge of this world, I could realize that she's putting up a fake front and that she wants to die for someone...
"I'm fine, The moment I decided to join the survey corps is the moment I mentally prepared myself for my death and my comrades" I said as my eyes showed blankness for a moment
"I-I see... Though I don't want you to die at all... So lets strive to live till the end!" She encouraged me
I laughed at her making her confused
"Haha... You're right... Lets live till the bitter end, I still have my goal to complete after all" I spoke the last part quietly as my eyes darkened
"What was that? I'm sorry but I couldn't hear the last part properly" She said as she leaned closer hoping to hear it
"It's nothing, nothing at all. You keep on checking up on the others so how about I check up on you, after all you saw them as well first hand" I said as I looked at her
Christa looked surprised but quickly shook her head
"No... I'm fine, thank you for asking!" She in a positive tone spoke
I flicked her head as I chuckled at her
"Don't lie... I can see it in your eyes, you're feeling tired and scared..." I said as I looked at her straight in the eye
"Wha- No I'm not!" She brought her hands near her chest in a clenched state as she pouted and protested
I just flicked her again and I spoke
"Another lie"
"I'm not-"

"Lie"
"I'm really not-"
*Flick*
"Stop flicking my head, I'm really not-"

"Alright fine! Maybe I'm feeling a little tired and scared..." She gave up after tons of flicking
Her forehead was a little red from all the flicking as tears threatened to fall from her eyes
"I see..." I said as my hand slowly approached her head
"W-What are you doing? I'm telling the truth now! I promise I am te- huh?!" Christa tried to stop my hand but soon she got surprised
As for the reason she was surprised was because her head was laying on my lap, yup on my lap
"W-What are you doing...? August...?" Christa said as her face flushed red as she looked at my face from my lap
"Making you rest up? You are tired after all" I said as I patted her silky blonde hair
"B-But why lay me down on your lap?" She embarrassingly asked
"Well you would be uncomfortable if you laid just on my shoulder right? So the most obvious choice is my lap, and you're not even trying to sit up so you must like this huh?" I said as I kept on petting her head as I teased her
"And you did this to me back in the academy right? So this is just me returning the favor"
Her face flushed as she turned herself to the side making her look away from me and hiding her face
Soon her body started to relax from all the patting I was doing to her head
After that silence persisted on our surrounding as the sound of me stroking her hair was only heard
A warm atmosphere surrounded us as I spoiled her, soon I spoke up
"Say Christa... Why are you scared?" I carefully asked her while stroking her hair
Christa just stayed silent for a bit before replying back
"I-I'm scared that... I might be the next to get eaten by the Titans... I don't want to die a meaningless death, I want to die protecting someone or something..." She quietly said that it was as loud as a whisper but I caught all of it
"I see... But you will never get eaten nor hurted by anyone... The moment someone does so is the moment this world will face me..." I said as I looked at her with a dark look, as I spoke my words with absolute confidence
'I swear I won't stop hunting the one who is responsible for hurting you... I will burn the world if I have to...' I thought as my eyes spiraled with darkness
"Also stop thinking of dying for someone, I don't want you to sacrifice yourself for anyone. I want you to prioritize youself first in all situations" I said with the still same dark look as she nodded slowly
She trembled when she saw my eyes as she looked away almost immediately... Though looking at her, her ear was pretty red and her breathing seems to have gotten a little heavy...
I wonder why it is?
"I-I see... Thank you, I'm feeling a little relieved now" Christa said still looking away from me
Soon silenced returned as her body relaxed and her breathing slowed down, indicating that she was now asleep
I just kept on looking at the sky as I returned to my thoughts on how to be able to join the elite squad that will go and protect Eren
As I brainstormed I suddenly felt an earthquake and heard an explosion in the distance
'So it started huh? That means I don't have much time... I need to find a way to join the elite squad and be able to monitor Eren... And find a way to disguise myself and tell Eren on how to turn into a titan'
Christa didn't wake up as she seemed to be in a deep sleep
I brainstormed as time passed and soon 30 minutes passed by
Suddenly someone approached me running
"August! And oh... Christa" Connie ran at me as he yelled, but when he saw Christa sleeping on my lap he lowered his voice as he spoke
"August, It has been made official that we will retake Trost, though the plan to do so is still unknown to us, we are all being called out near the gate, Commander Pyxis might be saying the plan there so we need to go now... So wake up Christa okay?" He said as I nodded in understanding
"Also, a senior said that a higher up is looking for you so get up on the wall to know what's up" Connie said as my eyes widened a bit
Could it be... No, this is definitely it, This is the opening I needed to join the elite squad... I must not let this chance get away
I looked at him and replied back at him
"Thanks for telling me about it Connie, I'll be there soon" I assured him
"No problem man, so uhh... I don't wanna pry and you don't have to answer if you don't want to... But are you two... You know... Together?" Connie curiously asked
I just laughed a little and replied
"No we aren't we're just friends that's all" I replied back at him
He didn't seem to believe it but nodded anyway
"I'll go now then, see you later... If we all don't die to them atleast" Connie said as he solemnly said the last part
"Don't worry we'll be fine" I tried to reassure him as he just nodded, not believing it
Soon he turned and started leaving
I turned my attention to Christa as I slowly shook her
"Wake up..." I whispered to her
"Mhmnn... 5 more minutes" Christa groggily said
"Come on now... Wake up..." I said as she started to stir awake and slowly sat up
She rubbed her eyes as she was still half asleep
"Where am I...?" She said and soon saw me looking at her with a smile
After looking at me for a bit she suddenly yelped as she fully woke up and remembered everything
"I-I'm sorry for falling asleep on you!" She said as she bowed her head a bit
"Don't worry about it, seeing you sleep relaxed me as well so it's all good" I assured her
"I see... I'm glad..." She muttered to herself
Soon after that I explained everything that Connie said as she showed another scared expression
"Don't worry... The commander isn't foolish enough to send all of us out to die... Even if he did, I will make sure we and our friends will survive" I said as I patted her head which seemed to calm her nerves
She slowly started to regain her normal determined expression as she nodded back at me
"Then I'll see you later August, thank you again..." She said as she turned and walked to the gate
I just looked at her as she started to leave my vision
Now then, lets see what the Commander wants with me

A/N: A small fluff between August and Christa and a bit with Annie, more to come in the future with the other girls. On another note do y'all know where to watch the OVA's of AOT? Netflix doesn't seem to have it. Or maybe it's just because of where I'm from, anyway, I want to watch it so please give me some sites without viruses of course
