CHAPTER - 8 { A Situation }

"Vlad."

Replied Vlad, he then climbed the headquarters building leaving Hope dazed.

"Hope, what are you doing! We need to get back in position!"

"Ya, coming."

Giving a last look to Vlad, Hope followed behind her teammates towards the vanguard area.

Vlad sat down on the top with a sigh. The titans have already entered deep in the town.

"It won't be long before we will have to desert this town as well."

Muttered Vlad. Remembering the old memories of how his life turned upside down, Vlad smiled bitterly.

"But where the hell are other soldiers? I shouldn't be the only one protecting the headquarters right?"

Vlad questioned himself. Standing up, he shot one of the shooks which pierced a wall of the headquarters building.

Wuss!

Swung in an arc, Vlad entered inside the building through an open window.

Thud.

This room where Vlad came was very clean, mostly probably a high ranking officer's office.

On the table were dozens of documents arranged in a systematic manner.

But Vlad wasn't interested in searching the room, he went to the door and left the room.

In the corridor, it was very silent. Vlad walked through the corridor and was about to head down stairs when he heard something.

On the right, was a door leading to another office. Vlad wasn't sure whose it belonged to.

Clank.

As the door opened, Vlad saw that inside the room on the sofa, a naked man and woman were entangled.

Black lines formed on Vlad's face as he stared at the two.

"This is a misunderstanding."

"Please listen to us!"

Both the man and woman panicked, their personal moment had brought them in such an awkward and embarrassed situation.

"Are you one of the soldiers responsible for guarding the headquarters?"

Asked Vlad without any emotions in his eyes. The naked man and woman got chills down their spine.

"Y-Yes…"

The man replied with hesitation. The woman quickly grabbed her uniform to wear in a rush.

"Get dressed. I will meet you two on the roof."

Said Vlad, the two of these soldiers might be his seniors but he didn't care.

Clank.

Vlad closed the door behind him. His destination currently was the underground gas chambers.

As he went down the stairs, Vlad started seeing a few soldiers rushing in and out of the headquarters.

"Stop. Do you know about the soldiers responsible for defending the headquarters?"

Stopping a soldier, Vlad asked. The soldier was confused and then understood.

"If you are talking about the middle guards, they told us that they will be outside."

The soldier answered and then went back to his work in transporting the empty gas cylinders.

"Outside? But I didn't see anyone?"

Vlad was surprised and very shocked. When he was on the top of the building, he didn't see any single soldier.

The ones he met all left to support the rearguard in helping the civilians to evacuate the town.

"Doesn't that mean-!"

Boom!

Before Vlad completed his sentence, he heard a loud noise near the headquarters.

Wuss!

Vlad climbed the headquarters building and looked at the source of the noise.

"Another 15-meter tall titan!"

Vlad looked at the huge titan trying to move between the two houses as it destroyed everything.

"Not just this alone, there's more titans! One, two, three… six!"

Together with the 15-meter tall titan, there were another five 6-meter tall titans around.

"I need to be quick!"

Press.

Vlad shot the two hooks on a 6-meter tall titan's legs, which easily pierced the flesh.

Wuss!

With the two quick bursts of high pressure gas method, Vlad gained speed.

Slice!

Vlad reached on the ground as the strings were still connected to the titan's legs. He ran on the ground and cut the tendons below the calf muscles.

Bam!

The titan felt all its strength in the legs disappear as it lost its balance and fell down on the ground.

Wuss!

Immediately, Vlad shot the two hooks on the titan's neck as he pulled himself towards the nape.

Slice!

A large piece of flesh was cut off from the titan's nape as it stopped its struggle.

"Ha…Ha…"

Vlad once again climbed the headquarters building and gazed below. Two titans already came on the road outside the headquarters.

Thud.

Thankfully the man and woman from before came on the roof hurriedly.

Vlad turned to look towards them, then he pointed his finger at the two titans near them.

"Kill these two, I will go handle the 15-meter titan."

Wuss!

Vlad leaped from the roof and with the help of his ODM gear, he came to the top of a house near that titan.

"Hwaaa!"

The titan saw the tiny human and roared. It swung its hands towards Vlad trying to catch him.

"Humph!"

Vlad slid on the roof and avoided the giant hand. He then shot the hooks at the titan's right arm.

Wuss!

Spinning a round, Vlad reached behind the titan's neck. A red light flashed in his eyes as he licked his dry lips.

Slice!

'This feeling!'

The blades cut through the flesh like a knife cutting down tofu into two halves.

𝘐 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 𝘮𝘺 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘧𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘦𝘳!

The titan's arms lost their strength, and then the titan who couldn't even cross the buildings fell down violently.

Boom!

The houses on the sides were affected by the titan's fall. Vlad went to a distance and landed on a chimney.

On his face, there was an excited smile. Vlad looked down at his own hands which held the blades.

Shaking, they were shaking uncontrollably. Vlad released the handles grip as the blades fell off.

He moved the handles and gripped the new blades in the containers around his waist.

Pulling them out, Vlad stared at the other titans around the headquarters building.

Badump!

Badump!

His heartbeat was clear in his mind. Vlod closed his eyes, took a deep breath and tried to calm himself.

"Focus…"

As he opened his eyes, the smile had already vanished. He regained his indifferent expression.

"Killing titans isn't all that bad…"

Vlad shot the hooks on the walls of the houses and swung his way towards the 6-meter titans.

The man and woman were barely able to kill the two titans nearest to the headquarters building.

'How did they even pass the training camp?' In Vlad's eyes, those two soldiers were really bad at keeping calm.

Many times the woman panicked while the man lost his balance mid air but somehow was still alive.

Slice!

Vlad killed the first titan to appear before his eyes as he locked on to the next.

Wuss!

This time, Vlad pressed the gas switch longer and reached a fast speed.

In the air, Vlad spun his body while the blades were pointed outside.

The titan he had locked on to, raised his hand to grab Vlad but got its fingers cut off.

"Hwaa!"

It shouted in frustration. Vlad shot the hooks on the titan's eyes, turning it blind.

"Die!"

Rotating around the titan, Vlad positioned his blades in his signature style, V-shape, and cut through the titan's flesh.

Boom.

The titan fell on the ground and stopped moving. Vlad landed on its back and took a breather.

"One last more to go and I can get some rest."
