The atmosphere in the Council Room was tense; the silence was heavy, weighing down on each of the presents as they thought about the implications of what had been said. Lirith and Haddam had just informed the Lyris that a group of nine youngsters who were headed for the temples for a praying session had been kidnapped. The Sirkai Clan – or the ones who still believed they deserved to be called that – had taken them, dragging them off to their secret and dangerous passages. All that was left of them were the medals of those who belonged to the Holy Lineages, a symbol the Sirkai were forbidden from wearing and thus loathed.
