Astral's Rise Part 72: Throne Room

Astral and Jaimie were charging forward to the throne room where the Sacramentum leader was. They haven't left due to Astral and the Everlast owning all available airspace. The Sacramentum sent their best guards and forces to slow down Jaimie and Astral.

Jaimie twirled her spear around, being able to take the lead as Astral slept and walked though most of the combat to start. She saw each of the Sacramentum elite be nothing but moving training dolls, their attacks coming at her in waves as she cleaved through them. Even with the staff part of her spear she was slicing through them.

The throne room was only a mile away as Astral woke up from his nap. He saw three Sacramentum Apparazza elite units be crushed by Jaimie in one smooth stroke of her spear. A tizzle jumped from above to pounce on her as Astral stuck up Murasama. "Thanks for watching over me." Jaimie commented as she scraped the ground, igniting a block of buildings in front of her.

"Hey, we need to watch over each other, it's how we keep each other safe." Astral flicked his blade clean as the Tizzle and Apparaza elite stood still in confusion, why are they both attacking now?

"After you, my kind lady." Astral rolled his hand over pointing it forward. Jaimie's spear ignited with heat once more.

"But you have to catch me if I am first." She tapped him on his nose as she bolted to the throne room, slicing through the masses of Apparazza and Tizzle as her spear made the streets turn into molten steel. Incinerating everything as she cut down everything. Getting to the throne room Astral was standing in the doorway. "Does this mean I get to punish you later?"

"Let's not kid ourselves, we both will enjoy that." Astral looked over and cracked a smile as she stood there for a moment and rolled her eyes as she waved him to step over. Following her command she threw her spear at the door, the magic seal guarding it shattering as her spear fell to the ground and rattled as she walked up the steps and grabbed her spear.

Astral kicked the door open looking into the throne room. There was a crib, a throne, and a table full of people that looked like Prophet. Jaimie stood still as Astral pulled his magnum out and shot at each one, the bullets failing to connect. They fell to the ground as the table started chanting.

The two peered up to the throne. It was Prophet himself. But how? He was killed. "So that spell worked much faster than I expected. This is the rebound from it, how?" Astral spoke quietly as Jaimie listened.

"Dark magic grants darker realities, one that you let loose due to your spells. Reap what you sow." Prophet reached into the crib and grabbed the baby in there. Walking down the steps from the throne Astral pulled out his rifle and opened fire. Each bullet fell flat once again as a hand was raised from the baby's swaddle.

"Astral, is this the cost of the spell to stop aging?" Jaimie asked.

"I don't know!" Astral had a look of worry on his face as Jaimie's expression turned from confused to fear of what they were about to face. "For now we have to stop him. We can worry about that between you and me later." Astral unsheathed the Murasama as he blitzed Prophet. Only to be pushed away from him by the same force as before.

"Fuck!" Jaimie spoke as she charged the chanting men, their chants stopped as Prophet held up Mu in the center of the table. The chanting bodies collapsed as Mu entered Prophet through his arms.

Astral landed softly on the ceiling. "Oh thats bullshit." Astral stood still as he formed a light disc and threw it as hard as possible. The hand flipped up from the man in the center of the table.

"Oh my, playing with dark magic, angering the gods and not becoming their servant will hurt you in the end." Mu spoke as the light disc hovered in his hand. Flicking it at Astral he dodged it as it sliced its way through everything to space.

"We can do this." Jaimie stood still as Mu pulled his hand back and slammed it forward to send Jaimie flying as she stabbed her spear into the ground, not moving, blocking the tables with her shield.

Astral came in from above as Mu went blow for blow, blocking each swing of the Murasama with a light disc. The barrage of attacks was so fast that it looked like two burning orbs of light. Jaimie hurled her spear into it as Mu used the mirror spell to send it back.

Astral grabbed it by the bottom and swung it down onto Mu as he blocked it with another light disc. "Die!" Mu held his hand up to Astral's face as he sent his most powerful kinetic blast directly into Astral.

Astral ducked below it, slithering around and pinning Mu still. "NOW!" Astral kicked up the spear as Jaimie charged in and flicked it through Mu's jaw. He stood as he repulsed the two of them. "Freeze!" Astral pointed his hand in a finger gun from the ground as Mu stayed still. "High class magic vs high class telepathy." Astral spoke as he gripped his sword to go in for the finishing blow.

His mind became flooded with the future that could be, each outcome being worse and worse than the last. Mu was channeling all of the prediction abilities from Prophet into Astral, He hunched down and grabbed his skull. He had to close that ability off.

Jaimie charged in at Mu while he was distracted with Astral, being able to split him down the middle in one slice of her spear. As the body was being split in half Mu reconnected it with his psychic powers. Jaimie shoved her shield in the middle of him and pushed each half away from each other as the screams from the souls sacrificed for power filled her ears.

Astral looked over to Jaimie who had her ears covered and extended an arm. She saw this and reached over as well. The screams echoing inside of her mind quieted as Astral held her hand. After a moment the voices stopped as she pulled him in and hugged him. "We did it."

He just sat and embraced her for the moment, were those futures true or could he stop them. He could only work one step at a time however he just let the tears stream from his eyes. He felt comforted by her warmth as Jaimie ran her hands through his hair.

"Thanks for quieting the voices." She rested her head on top of his, wiping away the tears with her left hand. "Whatever happened to you, you don't need to talk about it. You can figure out anything."

"I saw the future, Mu forced me to see it." Astral spoke softly as Jaimie held him tight. "It was terrible, destructive, deadly, each time I figured out a solution it got worse." Jaimie kept wiping his tears as she wiggled back and forth with him in her arms. "So I just cut out that ability I learned from Prophet, he triggered that part of the brain." He looked up into her eyes, his welled with tears. "I did the same to you, wired your brain to be empty, as nothingness. No mental attacks will ever work on us again." Jaimie kissed him lightly on his forehead.

"You did great, the Sacramentum is defeated for now. And when they come back we will be even more ready. For low let's leave." Jaimie lifted him up with her. Astral nodded and stood next to her as they walked out of the throne room heading back to the Everlast.
