Having to fight against a powerhouse like Conan while ensuring that the shockwaves didn't harm Cedric and co. Proved to be an uphill task.
Max was hard-pressed to finish things quickly but defeating Conan was easier said than done.
The latter was like a tank bulldozing through everything in its path.
Max had tried everything, barely keeping Conan away from his neck, else, his head would have long since been popped like a pimple by Conan's monstrous biceps.

Max leaped out of the way as Conan came down heavily with a powerful punch, creating a deep crater with dust and earthen debris flying every which way.
Using his staff, Max smacked Conan's neck but that only infuriated the latter further as he roared before charging after Max.
Since taking him head-on wasn't an option, Max needed another solution and one easily came to mind.
