BLADE

The next day I walked through the hallway feeling bad than ever I haven't had a good night sleep last night with Eunice keep popping inside my head. Just the thought of her smiling face gave a mixture of regret and sadness in me. Why did I let our relationship slipped away from my grasp?

But the weird thing is that wasn't the only thing why I hadn't enough sleep. When I was able to drift to sleep last night, that stupid annoying crazy chihuahua just suddenly appear in my dream. We were in the rain and I was just there standing watching as she was dancing in glee in the rain. Not bothered how cold and drenched we both are. She was wearing a white dress with embroider flower designs on her skirt. She looked at me with a broad smile plastered on her face but then my eyes widen when her feet suddenly faded like it turned into water and become the same with puddle below her feet. I looked up her face looking for any signs of fear and worry but she was still smiling. A bittersweet smile.

She mouthed the words, "Thank you."

My legs move towards her in long strides but I reached my hand to her but she turn into nothing but a puddle of water. My hands went to my chest. I feel the pain in my chest getting larger and larger by every passing minute and it was getting harder to breathe. I felt numb from the cold. My tears falling down my face like the hard rain.

I looked at my hands and I saw my fingers are slowly disappearing before I could grasp what was happening to me my vision sudden blacken and I could only see the darkness. That morning at 3:40 am I woke up with a start and I didn't get back to sleep again.

The bad thing is how is that chihuahua in my dreams? Every time I recall that dream it always brought shivers down my spine. Something about the rain just like what she mentioned yesterday made me think. Did I really meet her before? In the rain? I was reverted back to reality when I heard voices, one voice was optimistically loud.

I caught sight of Chihuahua talking to this nerd with glasses her arm clinging to her. They were laughing and talking as they walk through the halls. I watched Chihuahua. She is small compared to other girls her age she can even pass as an elementary student. Her long hair was braided in a disheveled manner and she had rainbow hair pins pinned on her hair that made her look more childish. Her white button up blouse was matched with a sky blue mesh skirt that went all the way to her ankle. Her dress was matched with a simple white one inch sandal. As I was watching her from a far distance my gaze suddenly adjusted to the girl who was approaching the two with a handful of papers hugged in one arm while the other free hand was giving it out to students.

It's Eunice.

She gave each a piece of paper and they had a small talk. My eyes affixed to Eunice who is happily chatting with the two. My eyebrows scrunched when chihuahua suddenly hugs Eunice. Eunice was caught off guard but then she hugged her back. My lips curved into a faint smile. Eunice was always the kind and good girl. That's why people wonder how the two of us got together when we were two polar opposite beings.

I locked eyes with chihuahua for a brief moment and I could have sworn she just smirk at me. I looked at her closely. The hell! She was smirking! She had this mischievous look like she was about to do something and that something involves me. My eyes went back and forth to chihuahua and Eunice who was still talking with the two. My hands ball into fists. My eyes narrowed at them and I was already in the bad mood with my sleep deprivation if she tries to mess with Eunice then she will be messing with me. Considering she is a lunatic I bet her plans will only put Eunice in trouble.

And I'm not gonna let that happen.

I walked the distance between them and when they saw me Eunice and the nerd's skin instantly blanched. The chihuahua looked unfazed by my sudden approach. "Good morning, Blade!" chihuahua greeted.

I harshly grabbed her by the wrist and pulled her closer to me. "Ouch!" she exclaimed.

Before she could rant her mouth I leaned into her personal space and glared at her. Showing how I got up on the wrong side of the bed. She cowered making herself less intimidating than what I am now.

"You are coming with me," I said gnashing my teeth.

"B-Blade, what are you doing?" Eunice asked, worried.

"I have business to talk with this girl." I answered coldly my eyes are on chihuahua who cowered in fear.

"Blade, please let her go." Eunice said.

"Please don't hurt my friend," the nerd said.

"No," I replied. I looked straight into Eunice's blue eyes. "I'm doing this for you, Eunice."

She narrowed her eyes. "You're not making any sense, Blade," she said in confusion.

"Just trust me on this, Eunice," I said. And with that I stormed away dragging chihuahua girl with me. She didn't fight back and she let me led her away from the crowd.

"Blade!"

"Forever!"

"I'll be fine! See you guys later at lunch!" chihuahua shouted to her friend and Eunice.

"Shut up!" I yelled.

She grimace and then mumbled something I couldn't hear. We went all the way to the rooftop when we got there I let go of her wrist and by that time she was already panting and her hands were on her knees, catching her breath.

"So. . .what do you. . .want to talk. .with me?" she asked in between panting. I silently move forward to her my fearsome eyes were on her. She stepped backward seeing the hostility in my face. "Umm. . .what do you want to talk about Blade?" she said her voice etched with fear.

A few more steps and her back was leaning on the rooftop door. I slammed my hands on both side of her. She was cornered. I leaned in and she face the other way not meeting my eyes. "What the hell are you planning to do with Eunice?"

"Nothing," she said rather immediately, her eyes still not looking into mine.

"Don't play dumb with me, chihuahua. I'm not playing games here. If you don't tell me now you'll deeply regret it," I said moving my face more closer to her.

"Okay, okay," she said her hands raised up in the defeat. "You got me. Can you move away now?"

I leaned away and crossed my arms. "Talk, chihuahua."

"First of all, my name is not chihuahua, it's Forever," she pointed out.

I rolled my eyes. "Whatever."

"Second, I was just trying to be friends with the literature club president Eunice. What's wrong with that?"

"What's wrong with that?!" I said my voice an octave higher. "You were clearly plotting something dubious with Eunice!"

With rumors spread like wildfire here in Wright High School, it wouldn't take long before she heard about me and Eunice and started plotting horrible things just to get back at me.

"No, I'm not," she said looking away.

I narrowed my eyes into slits she made a side glance to me before she sighed heavily and slouch her shoulders. "Fine, you got me. Well, I was trying to be her friend so I can get close to you, at first. You seem less of a grumpy old troll when you look at her."

I frowned. "And?"

"And if me and Eunice become friends—which would come out naturally—then we will be friends. And then I will give you an offer you can't refuse," she said smiling.

"What offer?"

She rummaged inside her bag and let out a notebook, it's cover is of sky blue color with lots of intricate origami flowers glued on to it. In the center was a cursive calligraphy of the word 'Bucket list' using a golden glitter pen. "If you be my friend and help me on this bucket list I want to finish in return I'll help you find a way to get back together with Eunice. I would be the cupid! The bridge to your love!"

My laughed was full of sarcasm. "Why would you think I would need your help? I don't need a stupid and crazy Cupid. I don't need you. I can handle things by myself. I don't need anyone's help."

"Really?" she asked, making sure.

"Yes. I don't need your help so don't even bother befriending Eunice," I said. I was about to walk away from her and my hand held the metal door knob but then she spoke up.

"Hmm? Nope. I think I still pursue on being her friend she looks nice."

I turned on my heels and face her again, my face is like a volcano about to erupt. "Don't you dare, Chihuahua!"

"My name's not Chihuahua! What's wrong with you? I'm just trying to make friends here. Even if I don't make an offer to you I would still want to be friends with Eunice since we share the same interest in literature. And besides your not my parents so you can't boss me around," she said her arms crossed and walked through the door.

My bit my lower lip to control myself from lashing out on her. 'Cause if I did I might not able to stop myself from hurting her. And if I hurt her, she might start ranting her mouth to Eunice which would only cause trouble for me. It would make it harder for me to get her back.

"Oh and by the way. ." pausing just as she held the doorknob.

"What?" I said gritting my teeth.

She smirked. "I'm not gonna stop convincing you with my offer. Ciao!" she said.

"Why you little…" And before I could attack her like a black panther to it's prey she slammed the door shut with a yelp. I punched the door out of frustration. I grunted angrily.

Dammit.

I THOUGHT it was just empty threats but then she really did it.

In two days time that I haven't seen her since the scene on the rooftop, she was immensely making progress with Eunice. She was in a whole new level of friendship with her. Now they were trios! Eunice, her and that nerd named Aurora. Don't ask me how I know that nerds name it just so happens I keep over hearing chihuahua saying her name whenever they meet by the hallway. I saw them one time at the cafeteria chatting and sharing lunch together. Eunice was introducing a book to them while the two girls openly listened while munching on their food. I've also notice that Chihuahua or Forever—whatever her name is—was giddy biting on a sliced watermelon. This ain't happening.

"If you keep staring like that she'll met."

My attention was averted by Arden's word. "I wasn't staring," I said looking away from them.

"Yeah, right," he propped one arm on the back of seat. He looked over his shoulder towards the trio's table. "They are a cute group, don't you think?"

"It would be better if she hadn't dragged Eunice into her group," I said playing with the spaghetti with my fork.

I told Arden about what we discuss on that rooftop where she asked me to be her friend and help her finish that stupid bucket list. I didn't mention to him about that little incident with the umbrella because I know he'll flip out and scold me like a mother would. I don't want to hear his noisy scolding.

"I don't know about you man but Eunice looked happy hanging around them especially with that girl. There is this optimistic aura with this girl that makes everyone around her happy. Oh and by the way, our uniform looks cute on her."

I rolled my eyes. This guy is always interested in cute and dumb girls like chihuahua. "Whatever, Arden."

We continued eating when my phone rang. I fished my phone inside my pocket and looked at the message that was sent to me.

[From: 09********]

[Ms. Little Cupid is at your service! Will you accept my offer of matchmaking, now?]

I don't need do a lot encryption to tell who send this message. And the hell! How did she get my number?! She isn't just suicidal crazy but also a stalker. I took a peek and I saw she looked straight at us, at me, with a broad smile on her face. She was all alone on the table now while her other companions went off somewhere. She waved her hand to me and pointed a finger to her phone, gesturing me to reply. But instead of replying I just put it back on my pocket ignoring her message, ignoring her. She frowned.

I continue eating my food when my phone rang again and this time she was calling me. I decline the call and was planning to put my phone back on my pocket when she called again. This time I was getting irritated by her repetitive disturbance. Can't she see I'm trying to eat here!? Geez. I turned off my phone and put it on my pocket again.

Out of frustration, I stabbed the meatball with my fork rather forceful that made Arden jump when the table shook a little. "What's wrong, man?"

"Nothing," I said in gritted teeth.

Get yourself together Blade. She is now a friend of Eunice. Number one rule: Never hurt Eunice's friends no matter how annoying and no matter how infuriated you are. Hurting her friends means hurting her. Which means I can't touch Chihuahua.

What's the plan? I just need to ignore her until she gets tired and voluntarily gives up. And that chihuahua will never bother me ever again.

Well, that's what I thought.
