Chapter 2 : Eye of Aeon

"Good morning, Yuu," said Arata, greeting his friend, Hyakuya Yuuichirou.

"Good morning, Arata," Yuu nodded upon seeing his only friend in this chaotic world.

"Have you been suspended too?" asked Arata, yawning.

"Yes, that's right," Yuu replied with obvious annoyance, remembering that he was suspended from service despite defeating the enemy.

"Don't worry too much and enjoy the life of a normal student," Arata said carefreely.

Silent, Yuu didn't respond to Arata. No matter how much he tried to explain that his sole purpose was to kill vampires, Arata couldn't understand and continued to mock him.

Arata and Yuu walked and chatted as they battled the Four Horsemen of John.

Having worked as guards at the walls, Arata and Yuu had extensive experience fighting the Four Horsemen of John.

The Four Horsemen of John were monstrous beings summoned by Trumpet Six to eliminate humans who had committed taboos.

Arata knew that the human who had committed the taboo was Ichinose Guren, who had used a ritual to resurrect his deceased friends.

Understanding this, Arata had conflicting feelings towards Guren. He knew that if he were in Guren's shoes, he would have done the same. However, he couldn't help but hate him because Guren's actions had led to the destruction of the world and the death of Maya.

Arata contemplated various ways to obtain the resurrection ritual that Guren had used but eventually gave up. He realized he had a better means to revive Maya through the multiverse travel system he possessed.

Guren's resurrection ritual had many flaws and risks. For instance, if someone knew they were dead, they would return to the realm of the deceased. Additionally, the revived person could only live for ten years before dying again, among other limitations.

Consequently, Arata abandoned the idea of using Guren's rituals to bring Maya back to life.

Arata and Yuu entered the school lost in their own thoughts.

"So, what are you going to do, Yuu?" Arata asked as he changed his shoes, signaling the end of the school day.

Arata and Yuu were in the same class, so Arata observed Yuu talking to the teacher and Shinoa.

"I'll go to that idiot Guren's office," Yuu replied through gritted teeth, recalling the letter Shinoa had given him from Guren.

"Even if you talk to him, nothing will change," Arata said, shrugging. "Besides, I doubt he's in his office."

"Arata-san is right, Yuu-san. Even if you go to Lieutenant Colonel Guren's office, you won't find him there," Shinoa said sarcastically, smiling at Yuu.

Yuu fell silent, his brows furrowing. He remembered that no matter how many times he visited Guren's office, he could never find him. He turned his gaze to Shinoa and asked, "By the way, how long are you planning to follow me?"

"Isn't it enough for you that I'm here?" Yuu said, annoyed by Guren and Shinoa's constant presence, which only served to aggravate him further.

"I'm afraid it doesn't work that way," Shinoa shook her head, not wanting to admit it, but finding amusement in Yuu's irritation. "I'm your military oversight officer, so I need to stay by your side at all times to report back to the lieutenant colonel in case you violate any army rules."

"Tsk, do whatever you want," Yuu clicked his tongue irritably, wanting to leave but pausing when he heard a voice from behind him."Stop it!" came a frightened voice.

The voice belonged to a young man with brown hair, green eyes, and a face that clearly indicated he was a bit foolish. This was Saotome Yoichi, one of the main characters in Owari no Seraph.

"What's the big deal? I just asked you to buy things for us as friends," a haughty voice replied, pushing Yoichi down from behind the shoe cabinet.

Arata thought to himself, "What a vulgar incident," and discreetly distanced himself from the scene, not wanting to witness such a foolish exchange.

Arata strolled down the school hallway, katana in hand, contemplating, "I wonder how effective I can be against a vampire." Carrying weapons was prohibited within the walls, except for the army, but Arata had special permission due to his previous service, allowing him to walk around with a weapon without concern.

"But what intrigues me the most is the system," Arata muttered as he glanced at a timer that was rapidly approaching zero, signifying the activation of the system.

He silently observed the timer, which had only three seconds left.

After a moment, Arata opened his eyes, noting no apparent changes. However, anyone sensitive to magic power would feel the overwhelming strength emanating from Arata's eyes.

Booooooom*

"It seems like it's starting," Akira murmured, recognizingthe sound of an explosion, indicating the escape of a vampire from the research institution.
