Ark: Sol Alpha

They say Hallow mountain is the pillar that supports the universe. They say it is the only thing keeping the supernatural world from colliding with the realm of the living. I say bullshit! These cowards chose to remain hidden and stagnated. They refuse to grow and explore. Unfortunately for them, Sol is not a man that can be held down by the heavens. With these hands I alone will cover the heavens and, for that reason, the earth cannot hold me down. I will break the Hallow mountain! I will return to my world again, and I will become king again! I am Sol Ark, the sixth finger of the Netherworld guardian Hall. I am Hell... Sol scanned through all the messages on his screen with a frustrated look on his face. He had come to this world expecting to conquer and make a name for himself as he did back on earth, only to be told he needed to go to school.

"I risked my fucking life for school?" Sol slammed his fist on the desk, clearly infuriated.

Thankfully, only Chamberlain was present to witness the young master's fury, it may damage the image he struggled so much to build up tonight.

"I apologize, but Aetheria lives by strict rules." The old butler explained. "The purpose of having everyone attend the academy is to control the number of forces each alpha race possesses."

Hearing this, Sol blinked, his rage gone and replaced with confusion. Seeing he didn't fully understand, Chamberlain decided to continue with his explanation.

"Every tribe has a quota of three hundred awakened every four years. This is made to prevent one side from growing in power and overshadowing the other races." Chamberlain said.

Rubbing his chin, Sol couldn't help but frown at this. From the few things he had observed so far, this world believed in the strong and that was the most important thing, but they were also bound by a lot of rules.

"The Ark race has six tribes." Sol said with a raised eyebrow.

"That is why each tribe provides fifty awakened and only selects those with the greatest potentials." Chamberlain responded.

Sol nodded in understanding while pondering about the restrictions of this world. After his awakening, he didn't know how to utilize his abilities, even though he had two inheritances. Finding out that the academy was the only way he could learn these things frustrated him, but he was powerless against the system this time.

"You need to gain strength first before aiming to rule the sixth tribe. We have survived a year without a Kahi'k, I'm certain we can survive a bit longer until you are ready." Chamberlain said and Sol let out a sigh of defeat.

"Very well." Sol sighed and threw the journal back into the drawer. "When is the academic session starting?"

"Tomorrow." Chamberlain responded with a sheepish smile.

"Tomorrow?!"

...

Begrudgingly, Sol packed up a few things he needed and loaded them in the carriage as he prepared for school. He noticed the respect shown to him by maids and guards had increased exponentially after the rites of awakening.

Walking out of the castle, dressed in a black leather jacket complimenting his black shirt and black trousers, Sol saw Chamberlain waiting for him next to the carriage.

"We have to hurry if we are to make it to the entrance ceremony." Chamberlain seemed frustrated by Sol's attitude towards school.

"Do I look like I care about an entrance ceremony?" Sol responded with a raised eyebrow.

Regardless, he got into the carriage and began his journey to the Academy of Guardians.

"I know you are not happy you need to leave the tribe behind, but you don't have to worry. I will keep you posted on every major thing that happens." Chamberlain tried to soothe Sol's anger.

"Also, you can visit during weekends or any free time you have." He added when he didn't get much reaction from Sol.

"It's fine." Sol shrugged emotionlessly.

Leaning on the edge of the carriage, he enjoyed the scenery through the window.

"Tell me about the academy." He said, brightening up Chamberlain's face.

Seeing Sol finally taking an interest in the academy was good news to him.

"The academy of guardians exists to groom the younger generation and prepare them for the real world ahead. A word outside the safe walls of Atheria, where all the resources are located." Chamberlain explained. "It is highly competitive and uses a system where students are ranked based on performance. Resources are shared amongst students using the rankings."

Hearing this, Sol rubbed his chin with a thoughtful look. The academy system would give a normal person from any race a chance to compete against people like him who are born into the ruling families of the alpha races.

He had to agree the system was fair, but Sol wasn't naive enough to believe people like him didn't have certain benefits that set them apart. Even if they weren't given an advantage based on resources and other things, he was certain the treatment they received would be different from others.

He wanted to find this benefit and exploit it to the best of his ability.

'Fairness? Hmph! Such a concept does not exist.' He said with narrowed brows.

The only thing that exists is an opportunity, some greater than others. The difference between the strong and the weak was the ability and willingness to exploit these opportunities.

Roughly about an hour later, the carriage took a mountainous path, and at the top of that path was the Academy of Guardians surrounded by towering walls that looked ancient but sturdy.

The Academy of Guardians was located at the center of Aetheria because each region of the city was ruled by each alpha race. The only neutral ground was the center, which was considered a no man's land.

While the Ark race had control of the southern region of Aetheria, the Vampires had control of the north. The witches had the eastern region, while the werewolves claimed the western region for themselves.

No race was allowed to trespass into the territory of the other. This was not a united people with a singular goal. It was a bunch of races coexisting, and all that was needed was a little push to tip the balance.

Within the academy which is considered a no man's land was the gate Bashomon. It was in this very academy that Sol's parents were brutally killed by the joint effort of the leaders of all three other alpha races.
