Commentary: Chapter 9 edited.
[ ~ Chapter • Start ~ ]
Satoru glanced at the beast crawling towards him and his students, before turning around and glaring disappointedly at one specific student who was Daisuke Hiyama.
"I got jinxed days later..... god, damn, it." He told himself as he slapped his forehead.
It had only been an hour and a half in their exploration of Oscar's Great Labyrinth and everything went wrong just because some... idiot.
He really wanted to slap Daisuke Hiyama. Really, really slap him through his face for some.... stupid act of wanting to give some marriage gift to somebody he was too obsessed to!
This is so.... so....
.... disappointing.
[ Earlier.... ]
It was supposed to be a normal day, as Satoru is one of the people who would oversee the combat training of the students.
Simply put, his artifacts that were given to his students already stole jealous looks from some of the knights accompanying them from that moment.
Still they were surprised that he left the students not just to gain some fame helping around the Heilig Kingdom's city but also almost tirelessly make artifacts just for them.
And where did he even get those materials? That, they don't really know. Even his students just wanted to ask where he did get the materials or had a hidden blacksmith make those.
He just said that it "was a secret" and even Eri began to support his supposed claim.
Now, as they began moving forward, Satoru began to notice several things.
First: The total strength, agility and other stats of the students seem to have increased, yet most of their combat techniques were above amateurish. With the small exception of Shizuku, Kouki, Eri, Endou and Jugo.
Second: They don't seem to care about killing monsters to harvest their mana crystals for money. But here's the question: If they were facing actual sentient people, what would they do?
Third: It seems like Hajime has adapted to his class and begun to think and use ways that are conventional for him. Which was barely present in his classmates. Despite that intelligence of his, he was still pretty weak compared to his stronger classmates.
Fourth: Daisuke was acting strangely, as he kept staring at Kaori possessively, smirking or grinning at times where nobody could see him. Satoru might need to observe him more.
For now, that was enough observation as a few kobolds surrounded Satoru, who immediately put himself into a stance of Wing Chun
"Show them what you got, teacher!" A few of his students cheered, staying on the sidelines while the two healers of the group went on standby to heal him if necessary.
Some were even worried, but only Endou and Eri were the ones who fully weren't.
Meld even wondered what would he do in terms of battle, as he barely has any equipment.
The moment the kobolds of this floor began to charge at him one by one, Satoru hopped forward and delivered rapid palm strikes to the kobolds.
In other words our protagonist was slapping the life out of two of them. He finished his attacks by kicking them to the ground with a Brazilian Heel kick. Unlike his students who just use high damage abilities and moves, he does things in a swift, simpler yet effective way.
The moment they disappeared was when Satoru juggled their mana crystals and grabbed another kobold who jumped on his back by it's neck and slammed it to another kobold.
With the slight usage of ki, his hands became surrounded by a wispy green aura that enabled him to split both monsters apart.
"Woah! What kind of ability is that?" Atsushi asked, amazed like several students. Because the information of Satoru having the Sage Class and several skills like Kouki had been made, that simply made sense.
The knights who saw how he fought immediately dispersed any negative thoughts about him just idly standing around without any combat ability at all.
Once he was done, he clapped his hands once with a light smile after fixing his suit. Then, he glanced at his students.
"Come on, let's go further down." He said, and the students complied without much issue.
"You heard him, men! Move out!" Meld spoke as they followed the students and teacher deeper into the dungeon. While he followed them, Meld stared at the back of Satoru.
'Based on observation alone, Satoru acted more mature as expected of a teacher wielding the sage class.... and those techniques were like they were from a veteran with more experience than me..... who really are you Satoru?' Meld speculated, though put his questions at the back of his mind for later.
Later enough, they arrived to the 20th floor. Where the rooms became narrow and certain monsters are hiding in plain sight.
Naturally, the unaware students went forward in the frontlines, but Satoru, remembering something in Oscar's memories, sighed.
"There's Rockmounts in this floor, be careful." Satoru said, before taking a stance. "By the way, these monkeys love to jump on females on sight."
"W-what?! Then I'm going to have to kill any of them while protecting Kaori and Shizuku!" Kouki spoke, not noticing a rock that began to move.
Satoru, immediately noticing something using his skill, [Life Sense], took the initiative to kick the disguised monster up to the ceiling with a ki enhanced kick.
Explanations this time weren't even needed, as the Rockmounts hiding around the area immediately sprung up in action, revealing themselves to everyone in the room.
Before most of them could react, the Rockmounts sent an ear-piercing shriek enhanced by unique magic, making all that was in front of them be paralyzed.
Barely anybody could move, so the Rockmounts immediately set their eyes upon the girls and dove towards them.
Seeing this, Kouki gritted his teeth in anger, trying to break himself free. Normally he would have broke free quite easily, but due to several Rockmounts stockpiling their status debuffing spells, he found it very straining (both mentally and physically) to do so.
But instead, Satoru broke out quite easily due to his immense magic resistance and immediately began to break apart the monsters with ease.
Though some parts of the walls of the room they were in had been broken apart, revealing a wide vein of crystals. But that currently wasn't Satoru's problem; he still had to look after the people inside this room.
There was a minor.... no, it's actually a big problem because what happened next was Hiyama wanting to take the crystal which actually was a trap.
It was too late to warn him as Satoru grit his teeth in anger, and now here they were.
Normally, in canon, there would still be an exit that would allow them to return up to Floor 64 and above.
But it seems like Oscar really did modify the labyrinth at the very last moment. The exits were sealed, unless they were actually broken down.
The Behemoth had been equipped with newer abilities, along with a more powerful intelligence and sentience. All of it's stats were about as good as a hundred average men (around 1000).
But they were probably lucky because the Traum Soldiers were still as weak and as many as they were.
First of all, Satoru still has something to do amidst the chaos this Floor had given his students.
"Daisuke Hiyama..... I'm going to kick your fucking ass....!"
Said student turned towards him, before a powerful slap hit his face. Although he felt pain on his cheek, he suddenly keeled over due to his solar plexus being hit hard.
Daisuke couldn't breathe, and soon enough he was unconscious.
