Chapter 136: Evil Abounds

Previously

The door closed behind him, muffling the city sounds fading into the distance. The warmth from a modest fire immediately enveloped him, chasing away the chill that had settled deep within his bones.

Maris gestured toward a wooden chair near the hearth. "Sit. You look weary."

As Toshirou settled, he caught sight of a small boy peering cautiously from behind the kitchen curtain. His dark eyes shone with curiosity, and he clutched a thick woolen cloak tightly around his thin shoulders.

"This is my son, Ewan," Maris said quietly. "He's shy but curious."

Ewan took a small step forward, then hesitated, eyes fixed on Toshirou. "Are you… a traveler?" His voice was soft, almost hesitant.

Toshirou smiled gently, sensing the boy's nervousness. "Yes, something like that. I am searching for a place—a church. It is important to me."
