Apocalyptic World: I've Got The Second System

Seventeen-year-old Seth's mundane existence takes an astonishing twist when he hears a divine proclamation from God. The world teeters on the edge of an apocalyptic event, but instead of the typical chaos and destruction, God transforms it into a challenge. A challenge where every human receives a unique system and concealed abilities, all in the name of survival. "Shit! What should I do?" I could hardly hear my own voice as I faced imminent death. In the midst of the darkness, a woman's voice taunted me. "What an intriguing human, on the verge of death, aren't you?" Yes, I am! Please, stop talking and let me pass in peace. "How about I offer you a chance? You need to help me escape, and I believe you're the only one who can." How could I possibly do that? "Yes, yes, just form a pact with me. I'll grant you the victory you desire most, and in return, I'll gain my freedom. But it won't be without a cost. I'll bestow upon you the Ouroboros curse." Are you seriously presenting me with this choice while I'm on the brink of death? Ugh, do I even have a choice? As I resolved to accept, I heard a voice. Woman's Rage

Out of the blue, a hand gripped my shoulder. Garcia, done with Gideon, spoke with fire, "Let's go, let's kill that asshole."

I glanced at Garcia, spotting Gideon not far behind. "You spared Gideon, didn't you?" Garcia's anger was palpable.

"He's fine," she assured, heading towards the exit. Jayden and I followed suit. Passing Gideon, I noticed his injuries and left a healing potion by his side.

We searched for Matthias, confident that he hadn't left the ship yet. The teleportation gate in the control room hadn't appeared again, and it wouldn't until we had the cube from this spaceship's team.

Since they possessed two Galactica cubes – yellow and green – Matthias, being from the green team, means that he was from the Protective Team and couldn't leave until his team status changed.

With just an hour left in the mini-game, the pressure mounted. Now our team had only one cube, and finding Matthias became crucial. Garcia was seething with anger, and we raced through the hallways.

"Should we disperse so we can find him easier?" I suggested, feeling the tension in the air.

Damn Matthias, he was a dead man walking. My anger toward him was already fading, especially after winning against Aoki, but not so with Garcia.

"No need," Garcia declared, stopping abruptly. We heard the sounds of a scuffle in the room ahead.

Entering, we found Matthias using his shield to fend off an attack. He was facing Ranger class. I couldn't help but wonder about the skills of a Mage class in this game.

Matthias then knocked his staff, that staff was black and not as long as it used, more like a stick that helps an old person walk.

Then a big magic circle appeared behind his back and was followed by many laser shots from it. Many of them, like bullets that were shot from a mini-gun.

That skill really turned the table for Matthias that in a dangerous position before. The enemy team that hasn't realized his power yet has been shot by that laser. Until none left.

Holy shit! A Mage class was buffed in this mini-game! I was glad I didn't meet them along the way and just Matthias.

"Not bad," Garcia remarked, approaching Matthias.

He, with a hint of arrogance, acknowledged our arrival. "Finally, you guys found me. I knew Gideon would back down! But don't worry, I won't. I'm gonna take another cube from you losers," he declared with an annoying grin.

What the hell was wrong with him? Why was he played a villain now? Was this because he gets buffed now he becomes all confident?

"Stop boasting. There's no way I let you win. My team's snagging three cubes as winners, you wench," Garcia retorted, ready to throw a punch. Matthias took to the air, releasing his skill.

The three of us then dodged the attack while trying to reach Matthias. This place was wide, but not high enough for an aerial battle.

Yet, it didn't stop Garcia from flying. She didn't even care about the laser attack anymore. She kept flying and tried dodging even when her armor fell apart, and her body was covered in blood.

Her only goal was to teach Matthias a lesson—a really malicious lesson.

No matter the game buffs, a woman's fury surpassed them all. Yet, I sensed Matthias hesitating, screaming, "Are you crazy, Garcia? Just give up!"

He seemed scared to take her down. Garcia was still our party member, that's probably why he hesitated. But, looking at how furious Garcia was, she would do something brutal. I didn't want to witness Matthias's demise either.

"No way! I'm gonna get you and rip you apart!" Garcia declared, fury unabated.

I needed to stop Garcia from killing Matthias. I could see that she finally reached him and punched him until he fell to the ground.

Garcia then followed suit, while Matthias seemed to be in pain. Rushing in, I tried to stop the impending disaster.

Matthias, still in pain, got up only to receive another hard punch that sent him flying into the wall. Garcia followed, delivering a ruthless kick to his stomach.

"Stop it, Garcia, don't kill him," I pleaded, attempting to halt her relentless assault. Although, it was kind of satisfying seeing him like that.

"I don't want to kill him. I'll just punch him until his face gets disfigured," she declared, continuing her assault.

Should I let her finish or try harder to stop her? She wouldn't kill him, right? But why was Garcia really angry at Matthias? She should be angrier with me.

I felt a grip on my feet, and as I looked down, it was Matthias's hand, "Seth, help."

Groaning, I tried to reason with Garcia. "Stop it, Garcia. Why are you so angry with him anyway?"

She paused, seemingly in thought. "This man right here needs to learn a lesson to stop being a jerk."

"Fine, I'm sorry. I just wanted to act cool because the minigame buffed me!" Matthias pleaded, on the verge of tears. "I don't want to fight my party member; I just wanted to show off my power."

"Right, Seth? I'm a good person! I never meant to hurt you," Matthias pleaded.

I frowned, hesitating, "Before I help you, I need to ask something. Did you order Aoki to betray us?"

Yes, I am still disturbed about what Gideon said.

Matthias shook his head vehemently, "No, we met once, and she was on the Infiltration team. How could I plan all of that? We couldn't even communicate." His response seemed genuine.

Damn, maybe people were right – judging someone solely by appearances wasn't the wisest move.

"See, Garcia? He didn't mean something bad," I chimed in, attempting to calm her down.

Garcia sighed, "Don't ever do it again," before landing a final kick on Matthias. "And give me back my cube."

"Huh! You'll never find it!" Matthias exclaimed, reigniting Garcia's anger.

God, this stupid human being, how come he already pissed her again in less than a minute? This time, I would just give up and let Garcia punch him to a pulp.

Garcia knelt, effortlessly lifting Matthias with one hand. Ripping off his helmet, she threatened, "Tell me, or I'll punch your face raw."

Matthias looked stunned and scared, his face sweating and paling. Despite the fear, he insisted, "No! I won't tell you!"

I averted my gaze, hoping he'd still be able to eat without issues after this ordeal.

Then, Jayden unexpectedly appeared, saying, "Here, I found the cube," holding two cubes in his hands.

Once again, Jayden saved the day, rescuing us from Garcia's impending wrath. She tossed Matthias aside, and the tension eased.

"Make sure he won't move again, Seth," Garcia instructed, heading towards Jayden. "You really are a good boy, aren't you?" she patted his head.

"Wait, just give my team one, please," Matthias pleaded from the ground.

"No freaking way," Garcia shot back with a middle finger.

Matthias slumped, and while I felt a twinge of sympathy, he had brought this upon himself with his behavior.

Reflecting on my own actions, I sighed and sat beside him, waiting for the game to conclude. After a while, I placed the red Galactica cube near him, signaling the end of the chaotic game.

[The mini-game has been ended!]

[Congratulations to the winning team]

[But don't worry, the defeated team will also get rewards!]

[All rewards sent to your email!]

[See you again in the next mini-game]

[Adios!]

I found myself back where I started. Glancing around, I spotted Gideon and Garcia, both unconscious. Garcia's injuries had caught up with her.

It was a relief, and I seized the opportunity to make a swift exit before she woke up and potentially turned me into pulp for giving a cube to Matthias.

Before leaving, I noticed a notification indicating that I had leveled up.
