Chapter 8.

I had a lot of conflicting feelings when he kissed me. My legs were in cotton , I couldn't think anymore, I closed my eyes and let myself go.

His lips were warm and he kissed me gently. My heart raced and the fire spread throughout my body. For a moment, I lost track of reality.

We jumped when we heard a phone ringing. He pulled back and looked away from me.

Oh damn what did I just do?!

It was my phone ringing in my bag but I ignored it.

"I've got to go." I said running to the door.

I was angry and I didn't even know against whom, it's true that it was him who kissed me, but I hadn't even tried to push him away, and worse, I had enjoyed his kiss.

My phone rang again when I was in the elevator. It was Flo calling me. I picked up.

"So ,you're coming soon or what?" I've been in the club for so long, he must have been bored.

"I'm coming."

Then I hung up. I quickly said goodbye to everyone. And get out of the Skylight.

"Well what's wrong?"

Flo asked me as soon as he saw me approaching. He was back against the car.

"Nothing, why ?"

"You look like someone who just saw a ghost."

"Nonsense! Let's Go" We got in the car.

"Do you know who I just had on the phone?" Flo asked me as he was starting the car.

"Who ?"

"Gina Davis."

" Oh !" I was barely interested in what he was telling me, I had the "kiss" scene replaying in my head over and over. I was saying to myself that I should have pushed him away that way I would be tranquil because it would only be his fault. But I was as guilty as he was, I kept telling myself that I was stupid for letting him kiss me.

I still felt the warmth of his lips on mine, and its salty taste. Oh my God! Why was I thinking about that? I had to be angry. I can't let myself think about that, the guy was engaged to someone else. And I just kissed him, that was against my principles.

"Hey oh! Fuck Meg are you listening to me?" Flo pulled me out of my thoughts

"What ? What were you saying?"

"Girl what the fuck is wrong with you?"

"Nothing I told you. What were you saying?"

"I was telling you that I had invited Gina to join us at McDonald's." he said that while parking the car in a corner of the street. We had planned to go eat cheeseburgers and fries at McDonald's. It was a habit of ours before I started working like crazy.

"Are you sure that's a good idea?" I asked him as I got out of the car. After what had just happened with Mr. Davis, befriending his sister didn't seem like a good idea.

"She seemed nice to me yesterday so I don't see why that would be a bad idea."

"If you say so." I simply answered. We entered the restaurant and found a table and sat down.

"You don't seem at all excited about the idea, If you want, I can tell her that your arm is hurting and that we had to go home."

"No, it's just that, I don't know, she's my boss's sister."

"And that's it? Girl I'm not stupid you know, how about you telling me what's bothering you?"

He looked me straight in the eye. This guy knew me more than anyone, and I rarely hid things from him, but there I hesitated to tell him about the kiss and I didn't even know why.

Lois the waitress arrived before I could answer.

"Meg and Flo! It's been a while." his egocentric smile always made me laugh. She had always had a crush on Flo, and she didn't care that Flo never showed any interest in her. What made me laugh even more was that Flo was always embarrassed each time in Lois' presence.

"Lois, how are you?" I replied by returning her smile.

"Good, we missed you" she addressed more to Flo than to me, and this last did not pronounce a single word.

"I serve you as usual?" I was about to answer when Flo, who was sitting overlooking the entrance, raised his hand. Lois looked in the direction of the entrance and her smile disappeared very quickly when Gina joined us. She greeted us and sat down. We ordered and Lois left.

"Why do I feel like I interrupted something?" Gina asked in a teasing tone.

"Oh it's nothing it's just that there has always been mad love between them."

Flo was so uncomfortable and it gave us great pleasure to tease him.

We ate and talked, and it allowed me to think about other things, and I had to admit that it was a good idea to invite Gina, she made us laugh a lot. After having dinner, I suggested that we go to Karaoke, it had been a long time since I had been there and I loved it. I knew that Flo hated it, his thing was nightclubs. But Gina also loved it so he had no other choice but to follow us.

We had a blast. Even Flo, who wasn't thrilled at first, had fun. It was almost 10 p.m. when the open mic started. We challenged each other to sing at least one song. It was very funny, Gina started and sang Sacrifice by Elton John. Then Flo sang Evening Star by Kenny Rogers. And it was my turn, I sang Good For You by Olivia Rodrigo. I really enjoyed it until I got to the last part, despite how little light there was, I saw him. Mr. Davis stood between two tables near the entrance. I felt shivers run through my whole body. I managed to finish the song and walked off stage. I joined Flo and Gina who was applauding me. They hadn't noticed him. Flo immediately saw that something was going on.

"Meg, what's wrong?" he asked me. But I spoke directly to Gina.

"What is he doing here?" And there he came to our table.

"Good evening everyone" Flo was as surprised as I was.

"Greg!" Exclaimed Gina "What are you doing here?" it looked like she too was surprised to see him.

"I'm here to take Miss Wyatt home."
