As long as he crossed the Black River, he would enter the Forest of Whispers, which had a difficult terrain and dense vegetation—a perfect spot for an ambush. The Shadow's Nest had been operating for decades, and the mages of the Emerald Tower would not dare barge into this place even if they had an advantage in numbers.
