The internet is a really wonderful thing, even the brightest minds could get distracted. He wouldn't call himself the brightest mind but he was definitely distracted.
He was surfing the internet when he came across a CYOA based on the show RWBY. He didn't have much better to do so he decided to fill it out.
He skipped most of the character creation itself and went straight to the abilities section. A large amount of his points on two skills, Reactive Adaptation and Limitless Potential.
Obviously the person who made it had a terrible understanding of the show since these two alone could make the character one of the most powerful, if not the most powerful, character in that world.
He looked at the remaining points he had, which weren't much. For the semblance aspect, he chose 'Random' which gave him more points to spend.
With that, he went back to the skills and selected 'Accelerated Learning' and 'Blank' which made his character immune to mental effects/attacks. That exhausted the remainder of the points.
He would've ended it there but he felt uncomfortable leaving points unspent. Scrolling through the list, he bought the first skill that he saw that cost exactly the amount he had left, which was a Programming skill.
The choice amused even him seeing as how he only chose it to exhaust his points. As for the random semblance…'If I don't like it, I can always do it again.' He thought as he ended the CYOA, wanting to see the result.
The moment he did that, it felt like an electric shock passed through his body, his vision going black immediately. Not long after, he let out a gasp as he sat upright.
'What just…happened?' His train of thought trailed off as he realized that he wasn't in his room.
Before he could comprehend the situation, a truckload of memories filtered into his head. It was almost headache inducing as he looked around, his new memories filling him in on where he was.
He was in a luxurious room with a white and blue color scheme. Even the bed was large and luxurious. 'Crap.' He thought as he rushed to where he knew was the bathroom, standing in front of the mirror with a shocked expression.
White hair and blue eyes stared back at him, his fair complexion paling even further as he thought about his new identity. He was on Remnant…'As Wynne Schnee, Weiss' older twin brother and heir to the Schnee Dust Company.'
The only thing that came to his mind was the CYOA he completed moments before arriving here. If he knew this was going to happen, he would have picked magic but he wanted to explore each part individually.
With the new memories, he could already tell the differences his very existence caused. Unlike where the pressure of being the heiress was forced on Weiss due to Winter leaving, that role belonged to Wynne.
As a result of that, Weiss was more or less free compared to cannon. That also meant that Wynne's 'free time' was spent being groomed by Jacques to take over the business in the future, leaving the twins little to no time to hang out together.
That didn't stop Weiss from attempting to spend time with her twin to Jacques disapproval.
'Unfortunately, I'm already near the start of the plot. Weiss defeated the giant armor yesterday and will be leaving for Beacon in a few weeks.' He thought, thinking of what to do at the moment.
He heard soft knocking on his door, making him raise an eyebrow. Opening the door just an inch, he saw an excited Weiss standing in front of his door.
-[Weiss]-
Saying she disliked her father was a very big understatement.
Wynne and her used to play together all the time when they were younger until their father began separating them, preparing Wynne to take over the company.
The time they could see each other had drastically reduced and every time she saw him, he looked tired and dreadful, not that Jacques would notice or even care.
Her brother was suffering and she couldn't do anything about it, not yet at least. That was why she was going to Beacon rather than Atlas academy.
She would become a huntress and a damn good one too. Then she would come back and she'd be able to do something to help Wynne and at the same time redeem their family name.
Though his focus wasn't on her, it wasn't easy to convince their father. Who sets up a giant knight as a test? Jacques Schnee, that's who.
She was aware that Wynne wasn't allowed to watch the duel, only hearing whispers of it from the servants in the mansion. Unlike Winter who grew colder and gradually distant, the twins had managed to retain their close relationship.
She'd save him from their father's clutches.
-[Wynne]-
Letting the girl into his room, he was practically buzzing in place.
"Want to tell me what's got you so excited?" He asked, managing a playful smile.
While he was taught to show a charismatic and decisive exterior, he reserved the smiles for his twin sister who he was still close to.
"Well, I passed and I'm finally going to Beacon." She said excitedly.
He furrowed his brow. "You do know that he's not going to make it easy for you even while you're in Vale, right?"
"I am aware of that but I'll be just out of his reach that it won't be as effective." She replied before her smile turned sad.
Seeing that, he ruffled her neatly organized hair. Despite them being twins, he was the taller one.
"What'd you do that for?! Do you know how long it took me to make it?" She complained about her now slightly messy hair.
"Well you seemed distracted." He admitted with a chuckle. "What's wrong?"
The sad look returned, a slight quiver in her lips. "It's just…will you be okay?"
"I'm sure I'll survive the useless board meetings and events." He joked but it didn't alleviate her mood.
"You know what I mean. Will you be okay…with him?" She asked.
Even Weiss was scared of Jacques to an extent. His predecessor was the same but he on the other hand feared Jacques as much as he'd fear a fly.
Wynne showed a smile to assuage her worries. "I'll manage. Besides, I'm the older brother, right?"
"By only ten seconds! It doesn't count!" She immediately refuted childishly, getting a laugh from him.
"I'll be fine, really. Just focus on what you want to do." He said, pulling her into a brotherly hug which she reciprocated.
"Fine, but you're not allowed to not call me. And don't give me the excuse of 'I don't want to bother you'. Got it?" She demanded with a pout but he could see she was serious.
"Yes ma'am." He saluted, getting a light swat on his arm.
He gained a serious expression after that. "Also, there is one thing I need your help with."
She gained a curious look at that as he told her what he needed her to do.
-[Later]-
As Weiss exited the room, he locked the door, not wanting any disturbances at the moment. He focused on the light blue aura that covered his body.
Heir or not, he was going to survive in this broken world. Getting Weiss to unlock his Aura was the first step, the next step would be to get as familiar with it as possible and learn how to utilize the Schnee semblance.
Somewhere along the line, he'd take the company from the sleazeball who was currently running it. To do that, he needed information, information that Jacques wouldn't give him access to despite his heir status.
Letting his aura fade away, he moved to the computer at his desk, a small smirk on his face, glad that he picked the programming skill despite not seeing the use earlier.
Starting up the system, he marveled at his new found skill as he easily gained access to confidential Schnee records and Jacques' personal record.
"Oh my, what do we have here?" Wynne muttered with a smile upon seeing the amount of dirt and blackmail material he found.
And also the stupid decisions Jacques had made.
From blackmail to hard evidence of faunus slavery. Nepotism, theft and an entire division led by people who were pocketing company funds.
The man's solution to everything seemed to be to throw money at every problem.
Which led to people making problems just so they could get more money to fix them.
If was going to take over the company, he needed to be prepared to deal with most of those problems.
"Time to put that accelerated learning to the test." He muttered as he closed the tabs before making his way out of his room and to the library in the manor.
