Chapter 49: First Chat With Colette

After the kitchen staff and other two maids shut the room's door behind themselves, it is only me and the maid who are left staring at each other in silence. Well, I am staring at her and she is averting my gaze, staring down at her feet.

"Nervous?" I ask casually. "Am I scary?"

"Ah. No. Of course not!" She exclaims, getting frantic and panicky. "Your grace is very elegant and beautiful!"

Why do I feel like laughing at the sight of seeing her like this. Not that I am looking down on her, but I find her cute. I am beginning to get interested in her.

Well, not romantically.

"Hah. I was just pulling your legs." I say after neatly restraining my laughter.

"Pulling my legs?" She looks at me with a confused expression before looking down to examine her legs.

"It is an expression." I clarify. "I meant that I was joking."

"Ah. I-I see." She stutters. "Apologies for misunderstanding."
