Alnod Grade's imposing figure sat at the head of the mahogany desk, his face etched with lines of concern. "Tell me what happened," he demanded, his voice low and controlled. The afternoon sunlight filtered through the grand office window, casting long shadows on the polished floor.
Hearing the weight of his father's words, Simon swallowed hard, his Adam's apple bobbing nervously. A deep sigh escaped his lips before he began to recount the events. His voice, usually confident, was now laced with apprehension.
Alnod's expression remained impassive as Simon spoke, his eyes fixed on his son. The tranquility of the office was shattered when Simon uttered the name "Zack Lockwood." A flicker of recognition, then a storm of anger, swept across Alnod's face. His hands clenched into fists, the veins in his neck throbbing visibly.
