Chapter 17 : Races

Sora immediately looked up at Nexus, her eyes widening in realization. "Your Highness, you mean..."

"Yes, exactly what you're thinking. The foundation is the Purple Thorn Kingdom," Nexus confirmed.

Sora and Nyx finally understood what Nexus was getting at. "So, Your Highness, you want to use the Purple Thorn Kingdom as the foundation for the establishment of our own Kingdom?" Nyx's mind cleared as she grasped Nexus's plan.

"Although the Purple Thorn Kingdom may be riddled with holes after years of corruption by the Nobles, it still has some foundation," Nexus paused, looking at the three of them.

Nyx's eyes lit up as she exclaimed, "Like the remaining population!"

"Yes, Nyx, like the remaining population. They are the foundation of the Purple Thorn Kingdom. Although they have suffered torture and cruelty, if we can help them get revenge against the Nobles and free them from this miserable life, they can eventually recover from their trauma," Nexus explained. "There are currently about two million people in the Purple Thorn Kingdom, mostly elderly and children. It may not be much, but it's a start. These two million people will be the stepping stone for us to build our own Kingdom and gain a foothold in this world."

Kassius, Sora, and Nyx had a moment of realization as they understood Nexus's plan.

Trying to build their own kingdom from scratch would be a tough challenge, but if they could conquer the Purple Thorn Kingdom, it would give them a significant boost. Even though the kingdom may be in shambles, the territory is still there, albeit small, and the current population could support them for a while.

"But Your Highness, how will we defeat the nobles and criminals in the kingdom and take it from their hands? Our current strength isn't enough to face off against the nobles," Kassius asked with a concerned look.

Nexus looked at Kassius and chuckled, a glint in his eyes. "Don't worry about the nobles, I already have a plan to defeat them. And as for the criminals, once we're done with the nobles, dealing with them will be a piece of cake."

Kassius and the others nodded in agreement. If Nexus had a plan to handle the nobles, they didn't need to worry too much.

"Grandpa Kassius, follow me to a place tomorrow," Nexus suddenly said.

"Yes, Your Highness," Kassius responded respectfully.

Nexus stood up and stretched slightly. "Okay, I'm going back to my room to cultivate," he said. With that, Nexus made his way out of the room. Suddenly, he stopped at the door as if he had remembered something.

Turning around, Nexus looked at Kassius and Sora and asked, "Hey Grandpa Kassius, Grandma Sora, what level of Cultivation technique do you guys cultivate?".

Kassius and Sora paused for a second, and Kassius immediately replied with a bow, "Your Highness, we currently cultivate a Three Star Mortal Ranked Cultivation Technique."

Nexus thought for a few seconds. He didn't expect Kassius and Sora's Cultivation technique to be so low. "But if your Cultivation Technique is just at the Mortal Rank, at least you should have been able to breakthrough to the next Realm," Nexus asked with confusion.

Kassius and Sora looked at each other and smiled bitterly. "Your Highness, it's not just that we can't cultivate to the next Realm, but our situation is different," Sora said

"How different?" Nexus pressed on.

"Well..." Kassius looked at Nexus with a weird look.

"Because they are not of the Human Race," Jade suddenly echoed in Nexus' mind out of nowhere.

Nexus was taken aback. "What do you mean, Jade?" Nexus was really getting confused.

"Well, these two are not Humans, to be exact. They are Half Humans and Half Elves," Jade's voice once again echoed in his mind.

Nexus turned and looked at Kassius and Sora with wide eyes. He was shocked. "Are you both not from the Human Race?" Nexus said with a trembling voice.

Kassius and Sora were shocked for a moment.

"Yes, Your Highness, I and Sora are not from the Human Race. To be exact, we are both Half Humans and Half Elves " Kassius replied.

Nyx, who was standing at the side, was also shocked when she heard that Kassius and Sora were not from the Human Race.

"Grandma Sora, you guys are not Humans?" Nyx asked with bewilderment.

Sora looked at Nyx and nodded.

"But shouldn't Elves have pointed ears?" Nyx asked curiously as she looked at Soras ears.

Kassius smiled when he heard Nyx's words.

"We covered it up because we were afraid we would cause some trouble," Kassius said.

As he spoke, Kassius moved his fingers across his ears and a light flickered between his fingers as his ears changed to elegant and pointed. Sora did the same.

Suddenly, Nexus noticed that their appearance and aura had changed slightly.

Kassius became even more handsome and his temperament also changed, becoming more gentle and refined. He stood there looking like a wise sage. As for Sora, she became even more alluring with a seductive charm. Her skin became even whiter and her black eyes changed to green.

Nyx was shocked as she also noticed the changes in Kassius and Sora. She looked at Sora with a trace of envy flashing in her eyes. She could see that Sora had become even more beautiful with a mature charm, like a ripe peach.

Nexus looked at them in deep thought. He had heard of the Elven Race before. When he came to this world, he learned that it was not only the Human Race that inhabited the Astheria World, but a myriad of races dominated this world together.

The races that lived in the Astheria World were simply uncountable, including the Human Race, Barbarian Race, Dwarven Race, Monster Race, Demon Race, the Elven Race, and many more.

The Elven Race was a race of peace. They didn't like fighting and preferred to live in deep forests with abundant and thriving life.

While the Elven Race generally avoids conflict, they will not hesitate to retaliate if any harm comes to one of their own.

According to the records that Nexus has read, the Elves were born from an Ancient Tree called the Eternal Sacred Tree. Nexus didn't know much about the Eternal Sacred Tree.

Kassius and Sora looked at Nexus with nervous faces, seeing him in deep thought. They thought Nexus might not want them anymore after knowing their identity.

"So that's why you guys always remain the same and never age after so many years," Nexus raised his head and looked at them in realization.

According to what Nexus knew, Elves have a long lifespan compared to other races, aging slowly. An Elf might look like an eighteen-year-old boy or girl, but in reality, that Elf might be around one hundred and eight years old.

"Did my mother know about your identity?" Nexus asked.

"Yes, Your Highness, your mother was the one who saved us from the slave market and she was even the one who told us to disguise ourselves," Sora immediately explained.

Kassius looked at Nexus and said in a nervous tone, "Your Highness, you don't want us anymore." Sora also looked at Nexus with a nervous look.

Nyx was shocked hearing Kassius' words and quickly turned to Nexus, "Your Highness, you can't drive away Grandpa Kassius and Grandma Sora." Nyx immediately stood in front of Kassius and Sora with hands spread as if a hen protecting her chicks.

Nexus was taken aback for a moment and immediately chuckled and shook his head.

"Who said I'm going to drive them away?" Nexus said with a smile.

"You are not going to drive them away?" Nyx asked in surprise.

"And why should I drive them away?" Nexus asked back.

"Well, Your Highness, I thought if you know our race, you will not want us anymore," Kassius said.

Nexus shook his head, "Okay, I'm not going to drive you away, you guys are the only family I've got left in this world ".

Kassius and Sora breathed a sigh of relief, feeling their hearts warm when Nexus referred to them as family.

"Okay, now can you explain why your race limits your cultivation realm?" Nexus asked, shaking his head.

Kassius took a deep breath and explained, "Your Highness, as you know, Sora and I are Half Elves. Our cultivation is not progressing because our Elven bloodline is stronger than the human bloodline. We need an Elven cultivation technique that suits our race in order to increase our strength. Your mother tried to help us obtain one, but her kingdom was invaded by the Blue Moon Kingdom at the time, so we couldn't get it."

Nexus asked, "Why didn't you get a cultivation technique from the Blue Moon Kingdom then?"

Sora chimed in, "Your Highness, in the Blue Moon Kingdom, your mother's status was low, so she couldn't get an Elven cultivation technique. We also didn't want to cause any trouble for her."

Nexus muttered, "So that's why."

Nexus assured them, "Don't worry, I'll try to find a suitable cultivation technique for you."

Kassius quickly responded, "Your Highness, you don't have to bother. We are satisfied with our strength."

Nexus waved his hand, "Don't worry about it."

Kassius felt relieved and nodded.

Nexus then asked, "How did you two end up in slavery? Do you know where your home is or who your parents are?"

Kassius and Sora looked at each other, unsure of how to respond.

Kassius hesitated, "Your Highness, this is..."

Nexus interrupted, "You don't have to tell me now. Share when you're ready."

Kassius and Sora smiled, feeling grateful that Nexus didn't push them.

Nexus then said, "I'm going back to my room," and walked out.
