Chapter 2 : The Book

While I was sitting there, searching the sky for a glimpse of freedom, my eves slowly turned to the objects in my hands. I already knew what the ring was, a vibrant blue ring that is seemingly inconspicuous, but rather is a storage ring. Only the most elite of the elite have these, and me owning this one signified I was the Patriarch of the lost Xiao family. After the ring, I looked to my other hand, where lay a black leather bound book. It seemed of no great importance, but as the family fell my father thrust in into my hands and told me to run, and read that only when the time was right and when I needed help the most. I finally decided, after a long session of pondering, that I should open it now, or it may lay unopened forever. As I slowly unstrapped the leather binding holding it shut, a wave of energy hit me, throwing me against the wall and dripping blood unto its precious pages. After the wave dispersed, I opened the book, and to my surprise it seemed to be a book of family heritage. Although a common merchant may believe these pages held no secrets, I truly hoped there would be some. I held my hand against the first page, wishing for something, no, anything to happen. As the hours passed, I wiped the sweat and blood off of my face and wished once more, just for one more chance to take my revenge. That's when it finally happened.
