AN INEVITABLE FATE

Rachel lost all the colors of her life even before turning 20. She never thought she could fall in love again. On that day, she lost her hopes and the desire to live. The only thing that kept her alive was her memories with him. It was the day when Aaron first saw her. He had never believed in love at first sight. He saw her crying miserably. He stood there the whole day watching her. Later he learned, that it was the day when she lost the love of her life, her husband. He couldn't believe himself that he actually fell in love with a girl at the funeral - her husband's funeral. "Don't leave." Aaron had run behind her, getting drenched in the rain. He was scared, scared that she would leave him. She pushed him hard and shouted, "I don't like you!" Aaron stood there, rooted to the ground. Staring with a blank expression he asked, "Why?" She tightened her lips, scared of showing her weaker side. He continued, "Because of your husband's death?" Rachel felt her world collapsing. She hadn't expected him to know about Eric's death. Seeing her expression he continued, "Rach, you can't live with memories forever. You have to move forward with someone. But I want that someone to be me." Rachel took a deep breath. "I'm not going to get married again." Seeing her being adamant, he said, "Yes, someday, you will." "No, I won't." He asked, "What if you change your mind in the future?" "That will never happen. If that day comes, then I will come to you." Rachel just wanted to get over with this as soon as possible. She didn't think much about her words as that day would never be going to come. Arron narrowed his eyes and asked, "Promise?" She nodded. With an evil grin, he went near her. Holding her face, "Let's seal this promise." Saying this, he kissed her hard. His first love. Can he bring back the happiness that she couldn't even find in her dreams? Him and her? Is it possible? Is it an inevitable fate? Chapter 76 : The unexpected turn of events. (1)

Inside the conference room, reporters from the nameless to top media enterprises were present. They were invited from the Steins Industry for a high-end press conference. They couldn't care any less about it as they would get first-hand news!

"What could be the reason for this conference?"

One of the reporters asked among themselves. They were not informed about the interview purpose and who would be coming to the conference.

"Can't you tell, already? Without a doubt, it's about the article. But I wonder who's gonna make an appearance."

"Sigh, Mr. Colin has been admitted to the hospital due to health issues. Maybe, his daughter? Or his wife?"

"Or his PA? Argh, my boss will kill me if it's just Mr. Colin's PA! If it is not worth it then I might even get fired!"

"Argh! This suspense is killing us!"

Just as they were getting frustrated, the door to the conference room was opened, then a man and woman made their entry, looking gorgeous!

The man scanned the area with his sharp eyes before making his way towards the stage. The woman next to him was a little scared and followed his lead without any complaint.

"Oh my god! It's... It's Rachel and Aaron!"

"Pinch me! Ouch, is it for real? They are giving the interview together? Damn, it's worth all of my time!"

"Ah! I need to admit, Mr. Lee looks more handsome in real than in those pictures. Look at his body, he's such a slim-fit!"

"Haha, yeah, Ms. Rachel sure is lucky to get a man like Mr. Lee! Though I hate to admit, she is quite a beauty!"

The gossips died down when a soothing voice filled the room.

"Hello my fellow reporters, you all know who I am, right? Ah, what am I asking? Indeed, you will all know this handsome face!"

He added a wink with a playful smile.

The group laughed loudly!

The tension in the group reduced as they became more relaxed.

"Jokes apart, I'm Steve Austin, the manager of the PR department. I would like to thank you all for making the time for the press conference. Today, Ms. Rachel Stein, the project manager of the Steins Industry, and Mr. Lee Aaron, the CEO of Lee Industry are with us. They are here to make an announcement and you will be given a chance to raise your questions. So, without any further delay, we shall begin the conference, thank you."

The room fell silent! They all held their breaths to hear the news from the couple on the stage.

Except for the camera's shutter sounds, everything else was silent. It was quite an intimidating moment.

Aaron was the first one to begin. He spoke without a hurry.

"As you all know, we are here to make an announcement. There might be many question marks in your mind. Let's jump to the last part to satisfy you all first. You can ask the interview questions, we are pleased to answer any."

Rachel's eyes widened when she heard him.

'What the hell? Why would he make them ask questions?'

"Hey! Why are you acting as if you have the whole world's time with you?"

She whisper-yelled him while gritting her teeth.

Seriously, they didn't have much time to breathe let alone waste.

"Trust me."

That shut her up!

She wanted to smack him on the head! But he was lucky that they were in front of the media.

"Mr. Lee, what would you like to say about the recent article?"

Aaron smiled a little but it wasn't a friendly one.

"They sure have some talent for imagination. I'm impressed."

"So, are you implying that the article is false?"

The reporter twisted his words this time.

"Did I say that?"

Aaron raised his eyebrow in return.

"Then, is it true that you are the third party in the relationship?"

Rachel's palm started to sweat.

"Do you even know the first two parties to begin with?"

"..."

The one-way-interview went on for another thirty more minutes.

Rachel's mouth was twitching nonstop as she heard his nonchalant replies. The hell? This guy wasn't answering any of their questions!

Indeed, Aaron was just trying to buy some time.

They all wanted to pull out their hair in frustration.

"Ms. Rachel, there are rumors about your engagement. Are they true?"

They simply couldn't deal with the arrogant bastard anymore.

Rachel shifted nervously on her seat.

"Yes."

The one word caused a commotion in the room.

"Oh god, the rumors are true. Then, is she admitting to her affair?"

"She must be! Only that makes sense."

"Ms. Rachel, who is your fiance? What is his identity?"

"..."

She took a deep breath. This was it. It was time to spill everything about her engagement with Darren.

The blackmailer had asked her to admit to her engagement and that she was cheating on her fiance by having an affair with Aaron.

This would ruin not only her image but the family and the company's image as well, completely.

That was what they wanted.

To save Jane's life, she had to ruin her's!

Happy reading time.
