Obalende

On getting to Obalende, she turned "I'll be dropping off in the next bus stop, I hope you can find your way to V.I (Victoria Island)?" I wasn't sure I can find my way to V.I on same bus but I know I can find my way to V.I on foot. "Yes, I really appreciate your help, thank you" we both smile at each other, the driver called out for the next bus stop, she waved at me as she stepped down, I gave a returning smile. Although I didn't get to know her name, but all I thought of was how to get off the bus seeing she paid for Obalende bus stop, I quickly beckon on the driver to pull to a stop, he ranted inaudibly words I know won't be nice to me, but i care less.

As the bus made its way to Victoria Island, I felt this quick sadness as I try to imagine the distance ahead of me, but I need to get to Mrs. Wong, in her cafe holds my meal for the night. I started walking, the street was crowded with people rushing to Bar Beach, being a Sunday, bar beach is always filled up with all races, tribes and colours of people from and outside the state, "These people have food on their table, move on. " I murmured. Just as I was walking towards Bank Road Ikoyi, some group of boys held someone that seemed to be new to the neighborhood; hitting him, and trying to forcefully take his cellphone and wallet. The group was much for just one person to make them run, but seeing the victim lying helplessly, someone have to do something, and am the only one there. Beside me was a plank probably from the construction site at the other side of the street, quickly grabbing the plank as I ran towards the other side of the road shouting and pointing at them, on sighting me with the plank, they all ran leaving the boy on the floor. He stood up and I ran to him, "are you okay? " I asked. With his faint cracky voice he said "yes, I am now. Thank you" I helped pick up his backpack, and sweater, dusting them for him I handed all to him, "be careful out here, these street kids are too dangerous to toy with" I concluded, walking off to continue my journey, enough distraction already, from the traffic to this. I turn to see him following me, "you don't know your way around here?" I asked, "my family just moved in last month, and I barely go out, I've lost my way to Victoria Island"

Some thing seems to strike a resemblance but I just met him and haven't known him, "okay, am going to Victoria Island, but on foot, you can join me if you want to or I can point you to the nearest bus stop" he smiled at me, now am wondering why he smiled, then his voice brought me out of my thoughts "or we can go to the nearest bus stop and I pay for our transportation"

I felt relieved and a bright smile ran through my face "I appreciate this and am thankful, but you don't really have to repay me"

"Not really repayment but I need someone to show me way to Victoria Island" he said with a smiling face.
