Rain

The sound of a splash pulls me from another one of those nightmares. In the dream, my world was covered in red. A red so deep and thick that I can still see a red haze in my vision even after I am pulled into consciousness from its murky depths.

Once again I saw red blood, belonging to those I know and care for, blossoming across their stomachs, lining their necks and splashing across my face.

The dripping sound is as vivid in my nightmare as it is right now, and my heart nearly beats out of my chest until I realize the source of the noise.

It's raining outside, and with the open tree house I can get a front row seat to the unexpected turn of weather. The air is chilled, having dropped quite a few degrees during the night and even more because of the cold rain. So when I let out a shaky breath, I can see it fog up in front of me.

The pacific northwest has a temperate climate, similar to the Mediterranean in the sense that is stays wet and cool.
