She turned to stare at him but to her greatest surprise, she was met with a contemptuous grin on his face. He bared all his outer set of teeth as he laughed.

"Let go of my hands immediately!" She barked at him like a provoked mad dog. Amidst her rising anger, she struggled to get his strong hands off him. "You are yet to fix the disappointment and delay you have caused me. We are not even done with that. And now, this? Now, you are doing this? I'm beginning to think maybe, you are getting me upset intentionally. Don't even dare to deny it because, that's exactly what it appears to be."

"Now, you have gotten you fired up!'' He let go of her arms as he replied her. "Somebody is really mad and fired up! I can say that again!''

"Excuse me! Are you talking to me like that Kane?" She queried. "What the hell on earth is wrong with you? I mean, what has come over you? You are just acting strange. This is not the Kane I'm in love with. If there is anything I'm not getting right now, just let me know," she glanced at him, "mmhmm? Begin!'' Clara demanded.

She had hardly finished speaking when her horse neighed for the second time. Both of them stared at the disturbed horse but, declined to say a word about what could be happening to the animal.

"Why will you do that Clara?"

"Do what Kane? What the hell are you talking about? What sort of strange behaviors are you displaying this late afternoon? This is not you Kane. What the hell is going on! I ask you again?"

He explode all of a sudden, in anger. "Why will you do this me after all the enduring promises we made to each other? I thought you could do better than this Clara? Of all people, it was you Clara. Why Clara? I should be the one throwing questions at you right now. And you know what honey, I know the truth. There is no denial whatsoever."

"I still don't get it Kane! What nonsense are you talking about? What has come over you?'' She asked him, confused.

"The attack! Yes! Don't even dare to deny it!" His eyes began shining with fury. He advanced forward and holds her two arms. "Don't tell me it wasn't you because, you were caught red handed. What I demand from you right now, is to tell me why you chose to do that?"

"Which attack?'' She removed his two arms that were wrapped around her waist. "What kind of attack are you talking about Kane?" She waited on him to reply but, she quickly change her mind and continued. "I can tell from the way you are sounding that, you are pointing a finger at me. Anyway, that's not my problem. All I care to know is the nature of the attack you are talking. So, speak out,'' she tried as much as possible to sound polite and gentle, this time around as she spoke.

"Tell me, you were not behind the attack my on my father last night?'' He questioned.

"Kane!'' She shouted. "How could you? I'm so disappointed in you! Why will I attack your own father?" She was angry at this point.

"You were seen Clara. There is no denial about that. My people saw you. You and your accomplices escaped before we could arrive at the scene. My father has been around for a very long time because of one thing. Clara you were the only one I told what could kill a wolf like mortals because, I trusted you and now you have used my little secret to stab me behind my back,'' he insisted.

"Are you nut? That's wasn't me for crying out loud! That was my mother!"

"Your mother?'' he asked in astonishment. "How do you expect me to believe you?"

"You heard me right. That was my mother," she bent her neck slightly while replying. "For months she has been making plans to attack but, I was very scared to warn you about this because, of the consequences."

"What consequences are you talking about? You were aware of all these and you kept quiet for so long? How pathetic of you!" He turned his back against her momentarily before, reversing to face her again. "Why should I believe it wasn't you that lead the attack on my father?''

"Because, I will never do that. You and I knows what I'm capable of, Kane! Why will I open up on my mother's little dirty secret huh? Why will I do that if, I was the one?"

He was convinced at this point she wasn't the one that had attacked but, the motive behind the attack is what is left to be find out. Therefore, he had no choice than to proceed with his plans.

"If you say you are not the one Clara then, why did she disguised as you? Do you have any answer to that?"

"I'm not sure why she did that? I'm still recovering from the shock of what you have just told me. Believe me, I was not the one. My mother was. Do you think I will be stupid enough to heed your call if, I was the one Kane?" She stared at him for some time before resuming, "is this the reason why your messenger told me to meet you up here, and not the inside town anymore? Is this what this meeting on this ground is all about Kane?" She queried with a seemly, disturbed facial expression.

"Yes Clara! If that's what you yearn to know. This is why I have summoned you here,'' he whispered loudly to signal the other wolves with him, who were been laying in ambush. At once, they all came out from their hidings ready for war.

At first, she was overwhelmed with fright. She never took her eyes off the wolves surrounding her and awaiting the order of the one she calls her lover. Now, it was obvious that this Kane is a different one. She was outnumbered. There was nothing she could do at this point. She knew that using her magic powers at the moment would not subdue them. She was simply unprepared. She could have put up a little resistance but, she hesitated to know what their next move would be.

Just when Kane began approaching her again, she summoned her courage and speaks up. As a precaution, Kane had moved away from her after alerting his wolves.

"What's the meaning of this?" she began. "What are you trying to do Kane? Am I being attacked and about to be killed? What's my crime?" She demanded.
