Chapter 051 - Breakthrough

The Summoner side of the group all went out to practice under Grue's leadership, unlike the warriors, Summoners and Wizards have special rune deeds and magic spells, Grue however couldn't be as idle as Slamby.

Johnsan returned to the stone room full of hope and sat down calmly to work on his fighting spirit.

"One lap, two laps ..." Johnsan counted in his mind, his luck fighting qi flowing rapidly through his body.

"Two hundred and forty ... two hundred and fifty-five ..." only to feel that the fighting qi in his body was almost a little uncontrollable, there were signs of going sideways, Johnsan gritted his teeth and still held on, trying to into meditation.

For a beginner warrior who had just condensed his fighting qi, there was a great danger in doing so, although it wouldn't hurt his life, there was a possibility that the fighting qi that had just been condensed wouldn't be able to withstand the drastic loss and dissipate.

When it was run for the three hundred and twenty-third time in a row, it still didn't work.

While controlling the flow of Dou Qi to continue, Johnsan's heart was a little helpless, it was not that easy to use two minds at once.

"Boom ..." buzzing in his head, Johnsan only felt that his fighting qi then lost control, instantly rushing across his body like a river breaking the dike.

At this moment, his mind was no longer half a distraction, and he successfully entered into meditation, his soul out of body, as if that body was not his own, allowing the fighting qi to wreak havoc in it.

In the middle of the day, a sharp pain came steeply throughout his body, Johnsan could no longer meditate calmly, his body arched like a prawn, his face twisted and his forehead covered in sweat.

The muscles all over his body seemed to be torn by a huge force, the bones were as if they had shifted, and from the top of his head to the center of his feet, the kind of severe pain that was indescribable and unbearable almost caused Johnsan to faint on the spot.

A dull cry of pain escaped his throat, and Johnsan's teeth gnashed out blood at the roots, his body violently twisting in strange positions on the stone bed like a living fish struggling to get out of the water. Before long, it only felt as if he had almost lost control of even his brain.

The pain in his bones continued, and Johnsan, unable to bear it any longer, passed out with a loud bang in his head.

I don't know how much more time passed before Johnsan was awakened by the sound of people returning from their practice outside talking from a distance, only to realize that his body was dripping wet, but he was sweating profusely.

Sitting up slowly, Johnsan suddenly froze, his eyes bulging out and his mouth like a yawning hippopotamus in a state of disbelief and ecstasy.

"Yeah!"

Like a true teenager, Johnsan stood up and swung his fist, full of excitement and elation.

He clearly sensed that there were a whole bunch of alien eggs in his mental space sending him mental requests of wanting to hatch.

"How many does that have to be!" Johnsan closed his eyes happily and 'watched' the count.

Thirty alien eggs, the whole thirty, Johnsan was ecstatic.

Concentrating and holding out his fingers, the Summoner's Rune Deed gesture was traced out in a flowing stream, yet it was all done in a very short time.

Feeling just a slight loss of mental energy, Johnsan let out a happy laugh, his eyes looking to the door.

"The visitor is physically heavy and is about a hundred meters away. There are several others behind him and they are talking." Johnsan's mind floated with this information, and he realized that his mental senses and perceptions were much sharper than before.

"What? Any breakthroughs in mental power?" Gourry asked Johnsan with a smile as he appeared outside the door not long after.

Johnsan laughed and said, "It's not that easy, just remembering something ridiculous."

Gourry basked, "You're still in the mood."

"Sit down, big brother Gourry." Johnsan warmly greeted him and sat down, pulling out two bottles of Bloody Anya, as the two of them drank, Johnsan asked, "Big brother Gourry, when I first came here I bought a magical beast's fur, and that stall owner said he hunted it himself, where did he hunt it from?"

Gourry drained a cup of wine, and when he heard this, his expression became a bit gloomy, and said, "Johnsan, there is an exit to the east of the Narrow Valley, where there is a large forest that belongs to the Scarlet Narrow Valley insiders hunting magical beasts and picking medicinal herbs, so it is best for you to not go there."

"Why?" Johnsan was a little confused.

Gourry looked a bit tense and said, ''That place is full of crises, yet it is not because Mr. Donald is keeping many magical beasts in captivity for us to hunt, but rather the people inside the Scarlet Narrows. Mr. Donald's management of that place is a bit lax, and there are often people who fight and cause trouble inside, and deaths are a common occurrence. The people who can go in are either the kind of good old boys who never offend others traveling in a group, or people who have some reliance, such as being highly skilled or having a golden badge."

"A gold badge?" Johnsan asked as his brow knit into a chuan, "Isn't that like the kind the black-clad guards in the Valley carry."

"Well." Gourry nodded and said, "Mr. Donald is especially powerful, if someone kills someone who wears a golden badge, it will definitely be found out by him, and then ..." Said Gourry, Gourry couldn't help but fight a cold war, and a look of fear floated in his eyes.

"It's not that powerful, I guess that golden badge is a bit weird, it's hard to believe that he still has heavenly eyes." Johnsan thought in his mind and didn't say anything.

When the alien eggs move, Johnsan is eager to hatch them, and he wants to do an experiment with humans as alien hosts.

It's been almost close to a year since he came to this alien world, and Johnsan's personality has unconsciously become much colder than before during the series of bloody killings. Like when he was in THE Locomotive town, he absolutely couldn't bear to use humans as hosts for the aliens, but now it's different.

"Would an alien possessing a wizard have more magic? Would an alien possessing a warrior have more physical strength? Could a possessed assassin be weirder?" These questions were swirling around in his mind all the time, except that he only had one alien egg to spare for fear of running out of alien eggs instead when he met a better host, so he had never tested it with a human.

"Johnsan, listen to me, don't ever go, you didn't just come here and run out of money, did you?" Gourry said with wide eyes, "You all haven't paid for your boarding yet, how come you're broke?"

"Lodging money?" Johnsan wondered, "What's lodging money?"

"You don't know yet, oh, it must be that Mr. Gru forgot to tell you." Gourry said, "All newcomers after entering the Scarlet Narrows have to pay five million gold coins for lodging, the accommodation fee, after staying for a month."

"Five million!" Johnsan huffed backward, it was a good thing that he had robbed a lot of money along the way, or else he had come on his own, yet Aldrich had only given him a magic crystal card of more than five million dollars.

"What if you don't have the money to pay?" Johnsan asked.

"No one will kick you out if you don't have the money to pay, but you have to pay it back slowly, and you can't have half the money on you, so if the black-clad guards find out, it's a big deal. Things here are so expensive again. Every month the valley has to go out some black-clothed guards shopping, the price back can be doubled a thousand times, there is no money, food may be able to solve, but you always need to buy some daily utensils. Although each person can go to the street occupation registration office at the beginning of each month to receive some money, but just that ten thousand gold coins enough for what." Gourry said, with some indignation on his face.

Gourry still wanted to speak, only to feel a gust of wind behind him, turned around and immediately stood up with a respectful face.

"Hello Mr. Slamby."

Slambi waved a hand toward Gourry, spun Johnsan around a few times with his hands behind his back, and asked, "Well? Any progress yet?"

Johnsan shook and said, "It's not that easy, how can you meditate and settle down when your fighting qi is running, it's too hard."

Slamby grunted, "You believe in that old man's words, look at himself, he's turning into an undead from trying the poison and taking the pills."

Johnsan let out a bitter laugh, Slambi naturally didn't come here concerned about him, for what he knew in his heart.

"Mr. Slamby, you talk to Mr. Grew for a while, and I'll go to the street restaurant and borrow the kitchen room to cook for you and bring it over when it's ready."

"Go go go, what's there to talk about with that old thing." Saying that, Slambi didn't care if Johnsan wanted to or not, and dragged him outside.

Gourry watched the scene dumbfounded and unsure of what was going on; he had the presence of mind to ask, but at the impatient look on Slambi's face, he gulped and wisely did not say a word.

"Mr. Slamby, why are prices so expensive here? And I've heard people say that newcomers have to pay for any kind of lodging after a month's stay, and that's five million dollars." Johnsan asked softly as he and he walked towards the street.

Slambi's body gave a slight lurch as he continued to walk forward.

"It all started thirty years ago." Slamby let out a long sigh and said, "This shit place, and what's the point of money, and every year another new person brings some money in, and nothing flows in and out still in this place. Prices are higher, but the living expenses that Mr. Donald sends down every month is still so little. The party that wins the challenge fight can enjoy all the other party's goods, and there's no telling how many people died for money these thirty years ago. You newcomers are okay, but the longest stayed here have hundreds of years, who originally would care about money, but now ..." said Slamby, shaking his head to close his mouth.

"Is it just to make this place more chaotic!" Johnsan thought in his mind, feeling only a little incredulous, guessing more and more about that mysterious Sanctuary Wizard.

With Slambi tagging along, it didn't cost Johnsan any money to borrow the restaurant's kitchen again, but this time he didn't make the spicy chicken; instead, he cut a chunk of meat from a wild boar's hind pig, found some random greens, and stir-fried a large plate of back-to-back pork that didn't taste quite authentic due to a lack of seasoning.

Even so, the fatty but spicy and savory gyro meat made Slambi smile and almost swallow his tongue.

While he was eating, Johnsan made another one for Grue, he was his mentor anyways, he couldn't be neglected. Saying goodbye to Slambi, who was eating with his mouth full of oil, Johnsan walked back.

"What a nice smell." As soon as Johnsan entered the Gru stone room, the latter immediately smelled it, and looking at the plate covered with light veil in his hand, his eyes instantly lit up.

"I learned this from someone else out there before, and I just made it for Mr. Slamby and brought it back to you." Johnsan said, and set the retort on the stone table.

Gru wasn't too polite and took a few steps over,, Johnsan smiled and handed over the prepared fork.

"Good, good, good!" Gru bit lightly into the meat, his eyes glowing as he called out three times in a row.

Looking at Gru's satisfied expression, Johnsan smoothly said, "Regarding my spiritual cultivation, Mr. Slambi didn't make it clear either, but I want to pester him for a few more days to ask. There's also that apothecary, Mr. Onina, I'd also like to ask for advice to see if I can solve my problem from the medication side."

Seeing Gru squinting his eyes and nodding his head in agreement with a cozy face, Johnsan was greatly relieved, and thoughtfully touched out a bottle of red wine from his space ring to fill Gru's glass for him, and excused himself.

Having spent the night in excitement, Johnsan hardly slept, and early in the morning, when Gru and the others had left, he packed up and set off in the direction he had long asked for.

It didn't take him long to find that exit on the east side of the Narrows, and after following the trail for a while, a forest opened up in front of him.

Unable to hide his excitement, Johnsan dove in head first.

His back had just disappeared when a dark shadow slid noiselessly down from the top of a tree at the edge of the forest and quietly followed.
