Alchemist in the Apocalypse

Salem Sinclair was the heir to the Sinclair Clan, a massive organisation that specialises in pharmaceuticals, mining and security. He is also a world renowned Biochemist inventing 'health potions' and a intelligent slime. Follow him as he navigates challenges in the apocalypse and tries his best to mend his broken love and family life. All whilst in the midst of an Apocalypse that will surely bring the end to his world as well as provide new opportunities to those that are prepared and able. The book is mainly about an apocalypse, based in the UK, the nature of the apocalypse will be revealed in the book so make sure to read it! There will some superpowers in the form of mutations but nothing over the top, the concepts used will be semi realistic, so sadly people resembling superman will not be making an appearance. There will be romance but it will be tastefully done and any scenes will have reasons to them, the MC has recently been betrayed so there will be a period of mending beforehand but that will be part of the romance. There may be some gruesome scenes but the chapters that include them will have warnings beforehand to inform the reader beforehand, don't worry they won't be that bad. I think. The story is in third person and will revolve around Salem Sinclair the MC but there will be colourful in depth side characters that I'm sure the reader will fall in love (or hate) as the story progresses.

1: Start of the end

*CRASH*

Brown poisonous smoke started to billow out of a broken flask. "Shit" sighed Salem after just dropping a flask of dangerous bromine in his laboratory. "Today is not going great for me" he bemoaned as he started cleaning up the mess he made. After cleaning up the borderline safety hazard, Salem stared outside the 2nd floor window of his building and started to recount the events that of his bad start to the day.

Salem Sinclair, the 'stupid rich scientist' a name his friends often used, laid in his bed unable to find the motivation to wake up. The 6ft1, mildly muscular 25 year old hated mornings the most, his permed black hair slightly covered his eyes and quite frankly it annoyed the hell out of him, but he never found the time to visit a barber to cut his hair.

Salem Sinclair was the Nobel prize winner in chemistry for the invention of 'Corrodant', a semi-intelligent liquid slime that could be used to melt any substance in the world.

The 'was' stated in the previous statement is due to the fact that Salem received a phone call this morning stating that his Nobel prize was going to be revoked as the science society deemed it unethical. To add insult to injury, Salem was also informed by the ever so 'helpful' caller that the British army would be confiscating his Corrodant tomorrow and that it was his responsibility to get it ready for transport. "So not only have you guys taken away the prize you gave me a week ago but your are also telling me to gift wrap my creation and hand it over to the army" Salem calmly asked. "Yes" replied the voice at the other end coldly before ending the call. "Might as well add this to the list of misfortunes in my life" sighed Salem as he got up and got ready for the day.

As Salem left his now empty house he stared at the front door to his 4 bedroom flat and sighed once again.

The use of 'now' being used as Salem discovered last week, much to his dismay, that his fiance had been cheating on him. He had bought the flat so that he and his fiancee Alice could live together once they were married, unfortunately now the 'ideal love nest' as the estate had called it, was now simply a reminder of lost love and betrayal for Salem.

After walking down the road from his flat, Salem went into the 2 floor recently renovated building where he had set up his laboratory.

Salem Sinclair had bought and renovated the building to suit his and his ex-fiancé's needs. The ground floor was for Alice a martial arts instructor, she was a former Olympic gold champion in Women's tae kwon do and had even been part of the British army before being honourably discharged. It was Alice's idea to have a dojo on the ground floor and a lab on the second as that would enable the couple to see each other everyday whilst they worked. " Looks like things will be awkward from now on" muttered Salem as he walked past the dojo entrance where he could hear people practising. He took inputted the password to the lift before going up to his laboratory.

Salem Sinclair was a biochemist, a world renowned one at that. Sinclair's previous invention 'Healing potion', a chemical solution that could heal medium to minor cuts, burns, radiation and posions, was also awarded the Nobel prize for Chemistry and Health. He had used the money and fame from his award to fund the creation of his dream lab as well as to get the required permission to import large amounts of dangerous chemicals that he could use for his future inventions.

To add to his prestige, Salem Sinclair was also the heir to the Sinclair Clan. The Sinclair Clan owned SinCorp which were the giants of pharmaceuticals, mining and security globally, SinCorp had developed medicine for niche diseases and profited heavily through them. They owned several large mines around the world, extracting precious metals such a silver and platinum in countries that were ruled by tyrants and dictators. Naturally the owners of said countries weren't always happy about the projects carried out by SinCorp leading to the creation of its security branch 'Sinners', a private mercenary firm fully funded and owned by SinCorp which handles the overseas security of all of Sincorp facilities globally.

Salem Sinclair was the second child of Samantha Sinclair, the Head of the Sinclair Clan, Salem had an older sister, Sienna Sinclair, as well as a younger sister, Sara Sinclair.

Upon entering his laboratory after the short elevator ride, Salem decided hastily to 'kill' his baby Corrodant or Corri as he called it, since he could not let the army take possession of it. He went to the cupboard and picked up a flask of bromine, a toxic chemical, which he would us to do the deed. Unfortunately, or fortunately for Corri, Salem accidentally dropped the flask as his mind was too busy processing the recent events that took place in his life.

After internally summarising his misfortunes, Salem looked at Corri with guilt and decided to avert his gaze away from the innocent slime he had given life to. Coincidentally Salem's gaze fell upon the window that faced the Capital and what he saw from his laboratory was the end.
