As Vanya stood there, frozen in uncertainty, Nolan saw her crying and it infuriated him even more. He grabbed her waist, his grip tight and unyielding, and spun her around to face him.
"Look at yourself," he spat, his voice venomous. "Look at how disgusting you are. You're crying, Vanya, but you have no right to cry. You have no right to be upset."
Vanya sobbed, her body shaking with grief, as Nolan's words cut through her like a knife.
"At least have the decency to honor our marriage," Nolan continued, his voice dripping with contempt. "At least have the decency to not tarnish my name with your infidelity."
Vanya's eyes widened in shock as Nolan's words hung in the air. She had no idea what he was talking about, but she knew that she had to defend herself.
"Nolan, I-" she started to say, but Nolan cut her off.
"Don't lie to me, Vanya," he said, his voice cold and hard. "I know what I saw. I saw the hickey on your neck, and I know that it's not mine."
Vanya's eyes dropped to her neck, and she felt a wave of shame and guilt wash over her. She had forgotten about the hickey, and she had no idea how Nolan had seen it.
As she looked up at Nolan, Vanya saw the anger and hurt in his eyes, and she knew that she had to explain herself. But as she opened her mouth to speak, Nolan's expression turned even colder, and he turned away from her.
"Don't bother explaining, Vanya," he said, his voice dripping with contempt. "I don't want to hear it. Just get out of my sight."
Vanya felt a pang of hurt and rejection as Nolan turned away from her. She didn't know what to do or say, so she just stood there, frozen in uncertainty.
Vanya tried to explain herself to Nolan, but he wasn't having it. He was wheeling himself towards the bed, his face set in a determined expression.
"Please, Nolan, just listen to me," Vanya said, trying to keep up with him. "I can explain everything."
But Nolan just kept going, his eyes fixed on the bed. Vanya tried to help him, reaching out to assist him in sitting down, but he brushed her off.
"Leave me alone, Vanya," he spat, his voice venomous.
But Vanya didn't give up. She kept trying to talk to him, to explain herself, but Nolan was beyond reason.
In a sudden movement, Nolan grabbed Vanya's arms and pulled her towards him. He kissed her furiously, biting her lip and leaving her breathless.
At first, Vanya struggled against him, trying to push him away. But as Nolan's kisses deepened, she felt herself getting caught up in the moment. She started to moan, her body responding to Nolan's touch.
But just as suddenly as he had started, Nolan stopped. He pulled away from Vanya, his face twisted in a disgusted expression.
"You're shameless," he spat, his voice full of contempt. "I'm disgusted by you, Vanya. You're my wife, and yet you're behaving like a...like a..."
Vanya felt a sting of shame and hurt as Nolan's words cut through her. She knew that she had made a mistake, but she hadn't expected Nolan to react like this.
"I'm sorry, Nolan," she said, trying to apologize. "I know I made a mistake, but please, just listen to me."
But Nolan just shook his head, his expression unyielding.
"I don't want to hear it, Vanya," he said, his voice cold and hard. "I don't want to hear your excuses or your apologies. Just leave me alone."
Vanya felt a pang of hurt and rejection.
Nolan lay in bed, staring at the ceiling as he tried to make sense of his emotions. He was angry, that much was certain. But he was also disappointed, and that was a harder feeling to shake.
He had hoped...well, it didn't matter anymore. Vanya had made it clear that she wasn't interested in him, at least not in the way that he wanted her to be.
Nolan sighed and turned onto his side, trying to get comfortable. He could hear Vanya's quiet snores coming from the couch, and he felt a pang of guilt for being so hard on her.
But as he drifted off to sleep, Nolan couldn't shake the feeling that he had been wronged in some way. He didn't know what the future held for him and Vanya, but he knew that things couldn't keep going on like this.
Meanwhile, Vanya lay on the couch, her eyes fixed on the ceiling as she tried to calm her racing thoughts. She had been so hurt by Nolan's words, and she didn't know how to make things right between them.
As the night wore on, Vanya's eyelids began to droop, and she eventually fell into a fitful sleep. But her rest was short-lived, as she was soon plagued by nightmares.
She woke up with a start, her heart racing and her sheets drenched in sweat. She didn't want to wake Nolan, so she quietly got up and made her way outside.
The cool night air hit her like a slap in the face, and Vanya felt a wave of tears wash over her. She sat down on a bench and buried her face in her hands, sobbing uncontrollably.
As she cried, Vanya felt like she was losing herself. She didn't know who she was anymore, or what she wanted. All she knew was that she was trapped in a loveless marriage, and she didn't know how to escape.
