Holy Fire

Cassandra sits down with the boys and begins to tell her story.

"As you two should know by now New Orleans has always been one of the few cities that runs along the Leylines."

"Yeah, so does Las Vegas, Atlantic City, and Orlando just to name a few" said Avery.

"Well back when the city was beginning to be built, all four spices had an agreement. The humans would be the blanket over the darkness and make sure that the humans visiting or staying to live didn't know anything about us. The witches would have most coverage over the Bayou. The vampires would control the nightlife and make sure everyone was in check. The werewolves before the civil war used to help the vampires but after the war they remained to be protectors of our world incase a wondering person came in wanting to know more. We worked out the arrangements from time to time but it always stay the same. Until a month ago."

"Let me guess, someone or something is trying to tip the scale?"

"Ah, I see you catch on pretty quickly there one who controls spirits."

"Thank you, I'm more of the listener while Avery is the getting it down guy."

"Good to know, anyways it is a person. A people more of less."

"Group of them?"

"Yes."

"Let me guess, they're holding religious symbols and saying that the world we know is real and they want to destroy it?"

"No, I can see why your friend is more of the listener, but good thinking. Sadly no we don't have those followers here I hope. No this is far worse than just some idiot humans. It's a man by the name of Allistar. He's been killing my kind and the werewolves, along with his kind too. Making this city his little play area."

"Where does the humans come into play?" The two get up with Avery walking around the room thinking of stuff.

"The humans who know about us are worried about the murders. Normally they would ignore such things since it would be just one here or there, but if it's by the dozens...they're already thinking of getting the FBI down here. A few days before my coven got burned we said we would take care of this."

"This Allistar, he's a vampire right?" Avery looks at her after he asked that.

"Yes, why?"

"A town up in Canada is having the same problem. A huge rouge vampire hive nest is growing there. Luckily there are people there to stop them but this is the third time we've been seeing a danger among Leyline spots. First in our hometown in Los Angeles, that town, now here. All of them links back to a vampire or vampires starting it. This can't be a coincidence can it?"

"Vampires at the heart of things going bad is usually the case for the first two, but this is way worse. It's said that Allistar might be being controlled by something. A person that is just like you two."

"Interesting. Avery what do you think?"

"If he is then we gotta get to the bottom of this. Cass since were going to be helping you out you gotta play by our rules on how we do things. That means no questioning the plans we make."

"In return me and my partner here would make sure your rules aren't broken and respected. Along with letting your people study us as long it doesn't harm us."

Cassandra thinks about it before looking at the two and smiling. "I'll agree with your terms, but one more thing. Avery if I may." She goes up to him and cuts his hand. Avery grunts and holds his bleeding hand. She adds it to a doll and says a chant before holding it in front of them. "If I see that you are going to betray us in any shape or form. I won't hesitate to torture you, understood."

"Then it is agreed."

"Wait what, Jon."

"Avery, control yourself." Avery shakes his head as Cassandra opens her doors letting the two walk away. "Best you boys stay with us from now on. Get your things, we will have a room set for you two." Avery nods while he wraps his hand as he walks away. Jon nods and follows him. The two walk back to their room in the hotel but not before the same two men watching them from a distance before driving away.
