Now I knew why Fenrisúlfr was content to let my ruse play out. To get me to agree to attempt the impossible, the demon wolf sought to bind me to something I couldn't let go of. In this case, to have what I now realize might have been my heart's desire—to be wed to Liara Lockwood in the future, with her dad's blessing to boot—fulfilling the dream of family that I'd lost which even being with Divah couldn't replicate completely. To keep this dream alive—a dream I didn't know I wanted so badly that I was even willing to join hands with a clan of ljósálfar to get my fix—I had to do something every god in the realmsverse might curse me for if they ever found out I was the criminal—nay, the great fool—responsible for setting the demon wolf loose.
Wow, so this is how it felt to be hoisted upon one's own petard. Freaking Shakespeare must have been a prophet.
