Chapter 11: Sick

A few days had passed, and I hadn't been eating well, not even father cared. I just still can't believe what is going on, I hope it's just a dream and I will wake up from it soon.....it's a nightmare.

I feel weak, so I just keep lying on my bed, I only get out of my room to do the house chores and, of course to go to school and then return back to bed. Yesterday, I couldn't get out of bed to do my chores, obviously father didn't like it so he came and taught me a rough lesson of obedience. He made sure that I learned the lesson.

"Adelina, darling." Andreas inters my room without knocking, I don't mind it as he is Andreas, not father. I look at him with pitifull eyes.

"Look at you. Here, take something to eat." He helps me to get up but accidentally touches one of the bruises that father left on me yesterday so i moan, he apologizes and places a plate full of food on my laps and then, He tucks my hair behind my ears.

"Why are you doing this to yourself?" His voice cracks.

"I don't want to marry a man I don't know." My voice is so weak and could barely be heard.

"I know.... we are trying to speak to father about this, but maybe you can give him a chance....just meet him once." He says while putting a slice of bread in my mouth; as I can barely move. I give him a smile to reassure him and ask him to leave me eat alone.

I got my way to school, and I felt a terrible headache, I was about to fall on the ground but made it to school successfully. I sat on a bench in the corner with my head facing the floor; away from everyone, I can't raise it.

"Hi, Adell." Leonor notices me. I don't want her to see my face.

"What's wrong?? Is it Mason again?" She leans close to me.

"No, I haven't met him yet. I just feel tired." My voice got out weaker than I expected, which made her raise my head to make me face her.

"What is this?! Who did that to you?!" She panics at the first part of her words and clenches her hand at the last part.

"No one, I just fell down the stairs." She seems worried about me and scary too. Which made me happy that someone cares for me and scared from the look on her face.

She sighs. "Okay, when you feel that you want to tell me, I am always here for you." She hugs me. I feel tears are going to fall from my eyes, I need this hug in such time. She knows that I lied; I can feel it from her voice tone.

"But you should have stayed home today. You need rest." I shake my head and tell her that I am fine.

She holds me till we reach our class.

Finally, the school day came to an end. It was so tiring, but Leonor kept my side and helped me write my notes.

"Mason wanted to speak to you, but maybe another day." She says while holding me.

"Why?!"

"I don't know. He told me to tell you that he wants to meet you."

"Let's go." Not gonna lie, I am curious. What would he want to tell me?

"No another day, when you get better."

I keep trying, but it is in vain. She insists that I need rest.

"Sorry Leonor but father can't see you again, I was in trouble because of that.... I can continue alone." I don't want to get beaten again. I won't survive this time.

She keeps refusing, but I convince her. She keeps looking at me anxiously while I am walking on my own; struggling to hold myself up, trying to beat the dizziness and headache in my head with blurry eyes. After about fifteen minutes, I am not fully aware of the time. She bids goodbye and goes on her way.

I walk slowly and hardly. Every bone in my body is screaming in pain. I feel my head spinning round in a terrible way, and I am about to fall to the ground. I lean on the wall beside me, trying to resist the dizziness.

I suddenly feel my heart hurts so bad, like if it is getting out of my body. It hurts so much my eyes begin to burn, and tears roll over my face in the middle of the road. I can't move. I can't. My heart hurts.

Mason's pov:

Leonor haven't returned from school yet, I went to search for her there but she wasn't there, I sent some of the boys to search for her, and told them if they found her they should call me. Ihave been trying to call her for two hours, but she doesn't pick up.

I pick my phone to call Noah, I have to find her.

"Hey, boss." Noah speaks through the phone.

"Did you find her?" I say. I began to get worried.

"No sir, Mason, take it easy. She will be okay."

"Nonsense, find her or you and the rest of the boys die." I grin angrily at him and throw the phone away.

Where could she be?! I know no one can harm her, she is my sister, I know her. But what if she needs me.

I grap my phone from the floor, which is shattered from the throw, and try to call her, but she still doesn't answer.

"Oh shit, Leonor, answer your phone." I shout in my office.

Maybe I can call Adelina.

I am calling her number but no one is answering. They must be in danger, both of them..... her father..... I swear if he hurts Adelina or my sister, he won't see the sunlight again. I call Noah.

"Noah. Go to Adelina's house now." I roar.

"That girl's house??"

"Yes, stop wasting time." I hang up and go to my car, on my way to her father.

I reach her house, get out of my car, and slam the car door behind me. I knock on their house aggressively, and her youngest brother opens it, I grab him by the collar. I hate this one.

"Where is Leonor and Adelina?!" I yell at him. I don't want to pull my gun out. He points to the stairs with fear in his eyes. I push him away and rush to the stairs, followed by Noah, who arrived late to here.

"Leonor!!" I yell while grabbing her into my arms. "You okay? Why aren't you answering your phone?"

I notice that she is in shook from my actions. I immediately return as I was; calm.

"Why are you here, Mason??" She questions with a pale look. "Wait a minute, you are worried that I haven't come home after school?!" She says, astonished with a stupid smirk.

"Answer me first." I storm at her.

"Stop yelling at me." She raises her voice. "I couldn't answer the phone because Adelina wasn't good and needed help." She says while folding her arms and looking at the floor.

"What happened?"

Not gonna lie, I feel worried about her. Leonor opens the door of Adelina's room, I enter her room and find her lying on her bed. Her appearance made my chest heavy; her body full of bruises, and she has a blacked eye.

"I left her to continue her way home, I just turned my back to go on my way, and then I heard something hit the floor when I looked behind me I found her on the ground unconscious." Leonor continues with a horrible tone.

"Guys, I don't want to destroy this moment, but Father is on his way, and if he found you here, it won't be good." Her another brother comes from nowhere; the one that I hate. What does this man do to them?!

I give him a nod and greet him before leaving. I see a blond boy with blue eyes while leaving, but I ignore him..... she has four brothers, and both her mother and father are brunettes, so obviously, he isn't her brother.

I get out of the house with Leonor's hand in mine, I don't want to let her go. I know she thinks that I hate her, but I care for her, I don't know if I love her or not.

"Who is this blondie?" I ask Leonor, who sets next to me in the car while I drive.

"What blondie?"

"That boy with green eyes."

"Oh, you mean that boy....I don't know him." She says.

"Is he one of her relatives?"

"No, he is a stranger who helped me when Adelina passed out." She continues.

"He doesn't look like a stranger. Maybe he knows her." I am not convinced with the idea that he is just a stranger; no one came to help her except for this man while they were in the middle of the road, a crowded road?! He knows her.

"What makes you so sure?" Leonor tilts her head.

"The way he was looking at her and the way he speaks to her brother." I hate the way he looks at her.

"Do you love her? Mason, are you jealous?" Leonor says, shook.

"No, I just need to make sure that SHE fells in love with ME." I say while stressing at 'she' and 'me' , Leonor nods, understanding.

"I have lots of work to do and so do you, go do your work." I order Noah and head to my office.

I can delay everything for now, I just need to know who hurt her like this.
