Chapter 29: The Dragon God

The term "god" has always been a mythical concept.

Few people have ever seen a god, except for the priests of the Sacred Church, who claim they can communicate directly with them. During times of severe drought or rampant plague, the common people plead with the priests to converse with the gods to save them from disaster. Most of the time, the gods mercifully demonstrate their divine power, but there are instances when they choose to do nothing. Perhaps, as the priests say, the world is too tainted with impurity and needs certain calamities for purification.

According to legend, gods are divided into four ranks, with the highest being the Creator God. The Creator God is nameless, and whenever a priest mutters "Oh my God" in their prayers, it is directed towards the Creator God.

Below the Creator God is the Dragon God, Pilot. Legend has it that Pilot is also an invincible war god and was not a creature created by the Creator God, thus enjoying a unique honor.

After creating the world, the Creator God was exhausted and left behind five unique resources from the previous world: wind, fire, earth, ice, and water. To manage these resources, the Creator immediately created five great elemental spirits.

Subsequently, the Creator God created other deities, and the Dragon God Pilot also created the five sacred dragon elements.

— Under the heavens, all belong to the gods.

A green barrier, 20 meters in diameter, appeared before the Great Green Mountain, illuminating the entire cave. Both the wind and ice spirits were awestruck, wondering what power such a massive barrier could summon.

As the green light faded, a green second-tier dragon appeared, lounging on the ground. It seemed to be chewing on a large dried brown lizard, with its tail hanging from its mouth, drool dripping onto the lizard jerky it held, and then onto its own green belly.

Evidently, before being summoned by the sacred oath, Greenie was comfortably nestled somewhere, savoring the lizard jerky.

Suddenly summoned to the battlefield, Greenie immediately noticed the Great Green Mountain and Amy, both spitting blood. It crawled over to the Great Green Mountain, concerned about who had injured its dragon companion so severely.

The one who signs a sacred contract with the dragon becomes its lifelong partner, and no one can harm them. Though Greenie is just a young dragon, the noble and unyielding pride in its sacred dragon blood cannot be insulted.

"Whoosh!" A green dragon breath erupted from Greenie's mouth, its blue eyes bloodshot with red veins, as its small wings flapped furiously in the air.

"Hahahaha," the two massive heads of the Gale Wind dragon laughed exaggeratedly, its front claws patting its belly. "A sacred dragon! Hahaha, it's been five hundred years since I've seen such a large sacred dragon. Hey, little green dragon, are you the successor of the current ice dragon? Let me eat you. Haha, too bad I'm not a green dragon; otherwise, I might consider being the successor of the ice dragon, hahaha."

Greenie clearly understood the words of the Gale Wind dragon, and its anger intensified. In the world of dragons, hierarchical order is absolute, and even a regular sacred dragon holds dominion over others. As one of the six sacred dragon envoys, it possesses absolute authority in the dragon world, and no dragon has ever dared to challenge the authority of a dragon envoy like Gale Wind did.

Blue lightning struck down towards Gale Wind, and even a strong dragon like Gale Wind couldn't ignore it. A rapid blue magical shield formed above, with the lightning directly hitting it, creating a dazzling display of red and yellow hues, flowing like mercury across the shield.

"Heh, I thought a higher-ranking dragon would be more formidable," Gale Wind remarked disdainfully.

Several fire elements appeared before Gale Wind. Clearly, Gale Wind knew that wind dragons and magic dragons like Blue Dart were ineffective against higher-level dragons, so it summoned fire elements for direct physical attacks.

Fire elements are just second-level magic; it seemed Gale Wind underestimated the small ice dragon envoy before it.

In a fit of rage, Greenie spewed green dragon breath at the three approaching fire elements. Ice and water are compatible, with water countering fire. Even as a second-tier young dragon, the power of a sacred dragon is not to be underestimated; the fire elements vanished instantly in the dragon breath.

"Watch out," shouted the Great Green Mountain, noticing the danger as Greenie reveled in its triumph.

Gale Wind's front limb launched four brown nuclear fusion eggs, which struck Greenie in quick succession with no chance to evade, sending it flying high into the air.

Red liquid immediately seeped from Greenie's mouth. Without pause, it pushed itself off the ground with its small wings and sprung back up. Having suffered a severe blow, Greenie went berserk: lightning, ice blades, and poisonous mist—all the first- and second-level attack spells it knew—were cast towards Gale Wind. Simultaneously, it flapped its small wings and charged forward.

The blue magic shield absorbed most of the attacks, with only an occasional lightning bolt piercing through and striking Gale Wind, only to be absorbed by its blue scales.

"Greenie, stop charging, run!" cried the Great Green Mountain, realizing it was he who had summoned Greenie with a magic array, now deeply regretting his actions. Seeing Greenie charging forward, he used his last breath to shout.

The magical light and shadows vanished, and Greenie was knocked down again by several lightning balls, with its left wing now injured. Yet the dignified pride of the sacred dragon showed no signs of discouragement. It unleashed a third-level ice spell, Ice Spear Forest. Massive spears of ice shot from beneath Gale Wind's feet. Initially small, the ice spears grew in diameter to about a meter, sprouting in abundance. Gale Wind, not expecting an attack from the ground, struggled to dodge, but the sheer number of spears was overwhelming. Two spears pierced its hind limbs, causing it to roar in pain. It spread its blue wings and lifted off the ground.

Crack, crack—the ice spears grew rapidly towards the sky, one meter, two meters, three meters, five meters, ten meters. Gale Wind, unable to withstand the rising danger, flapped its enormous wings, shooting forward like an arrow. Its sharp claws effortlessly grasped Greenie's neck.

The adult Gale Wind dragon was over 40 meters long, standing up to 15 meters tall, with short front limbs reaching 2 meters. In contrast, the young Greenie, tail included, was less than 2.5 meters tall (Note: the dragon's tail is 1 meter long, so Greenie's actual height is 1.5 meters). Greenie was lifted like a small mouse. Gale Wind pinched Greenie's neck with one finger, its face immediately turning a deep shade of red—filled with blood.

Gale Wind's massive head loomed close to Greenie. "Little one, you're unlucky to meet me. I might be the only dragon in this world who dares to defy the dragon code. Not just you, even if the Dragon God Pilot were here, I'd be the same, haha."

"Is that so?" A cold voice seemed to resonate in everyone's ears.

"If you're so bold, why have you been hiding here for 500 years, using the naturally formed magic array to conceal your dragon aura?" Whose voice was this, carrying such authority, as if pronouncing the end of the world?

At some unknown moment, a dragon appeared at the top of the cave—a golden dragon. It hovered in the air, truly floating, with its golden wings not spread. This dragon wasn't very large, seemingly a young dragon at just 3 meters tall, yet its voice sounded ancient.

What a sight it was—a dragon that seemed distant yet felt within reach, each scale vast and luminous, dazzling every eye. Its entire presence seemed to emit an indescribable aura of majesty and power.

"Dragon God," Gale Wind was the first to react, utterly shocked. It released its grip, letting Greenie fall heavily to the ground.

Gale Wind's blue head shrunk back, eyes filled with fear, but its black head remained defiantly raised. "Hey, no more nonsense. I didn't hide for 500 years just to be thwarted by a little reptile. I wasn't afraid of you; I was waiting for a better opportunity."

"No words are necessary. Come, let's see who is truly stronger—my ancient dragon god lineage or you." Gale Wind continued its audacious behavior, launching an attack on the Dragon God Pilot.

Four nuclear fusion eggs exploded towards the Dragon God in mid-air.

The Dragon God didn't move, allowing the nuclear fusion to explode upon itself.

"Careful," Amy, slowly recovering, shouted urgently, having witnessed the power of the nuclear fusion.

In the aftermath of the brown-red smoke, the Dragon God remained unmoving. "You should use a stronger spell, so I can also experience the power of an ancient dragon god descendant."

"Creatures of darkness, unleash all your power." What spell requires a dragon to chant? Gale Wind's black dragon head uttered a deep invocation.

A black-red hexagonal magic array shimmered in mid-air, and two hideous 10-meter tall creatures struggled to emerge, attempting to break free. Their blood-red bodies, wings black-red, with two long horns on their heads—not straight like those of the dragon clan, but curved—and a thin black tail swaying behind.

Demons, demon kings—could it be that these fearsome beings, said to be imprisoned on Demon Island by the Creator God, truly exist?

The two demon kings seemed to teleport instantly beside the Dragon God, brandishing massive fists, opening blood-red mouths, and extending blood-red tongues tipped with hooks, their gigantic clawed feet reaching out.

Punching, biting, clawing.

The Dragon God appeared to be engulfed by the two monstrous creatures.

"O primal dark fire, unleash your forbidden curse." Even if the blue head dared not cast any more spells, the black dragon head had clearly taken control of the entire body. Despite being just one dragon head, it was incredibly quick at casting large-scale forbidden spells.

The primal dark fire—a legendary single-target attack spell. Before leaving Amy, Reger mentioned several legendary forbidden spells, among which was the primal dark fire. According to Reger's vivid description, which Amy remembered well: "Summon the primal dark fire of darkness to burn everything around. It's powerful and mana-efficient, the fastest large-area spell known. However, the more targets it attacks, the less damage it deals. If used against a single target, the effect is maximized. When the spell level is high enough, the burned target becomes immobilized."

Black flames danced and twirled, seemingly embracing the Dragon God tightly.

"Heretic, I condemn your foolish actions in the name of the true god." Gale Wind unleashed yet another legendary forbidden spell.

Divine Condemnation—another content from Reger's last few lessons: Certain priests of the Sacred Church, upon reaching high enough levels of power and influence, arrogantly believe themselves to have become gods in the flesh and gather many disciples. Although they are eventually expelled from the Sacred Church, they can wield divine power—to cast divine condemnation upon a target, with the damage increasing with their power and number of followers, potentially plunging the target into chaos.

Does Gale Wind also believe itself to be a god? A new dragon god?

Three consecutive legendary forbidden spells, yet the Dragon God seemed to have no reaction. Does it still have a chance?
