Chapter 87- Pain and disappointment

Natasha came out after some time and found him standing right in front of the door. The iron tablet strip in his hands chilled her to the bone. Heat crawled up her face.

"Can you explain it?" Earl asked, holding up the strip.

She moved her gaze to him, who was staring at her with anger. "What is there to explain?" she asked back a question.

"You are pregnant. That was why you ran away?" His eyes dropped to her tummy. "Is it mine?"

Natasha showed no sign of nervousness. She held her chin high, trying hard to calm her erratic breathing. "You are right. I ran away because of my pregnancy. But this child is… not yours."

Not yours…

Earl felt like someone had punched a hole in his heart. He took a couple of steps back unconsciously. The disappointment and the pain he was feeling were unbearable.

"You are lying." He didn't believe it.

'Please say you are lying.'
