Chapter 72- Earl’s plea
Earl's fingers went cold while his face heated up. His knees were shaking, compelling him to plop back on his seat. He felt the surroundings were cold, but his forehead was covered with sweat beads.
"The kids lined up in front of the gate, preventing the bulldozer from entering the premises," Marcus's slightly shaky voice rang out again. "They won't be able to stop the authorities for long. It's a court order. I'm worried about anyone getting hurt."
Earl was too shocked to respond. He heard each word that Marcus said, but his brain had lost the ability to decipher the meaning. All he could think about was the children's helplessness.
They must be crying, worrying about their future.
How was he going to find them shelter in such a short time? How come people can be so cruel?
At this point, he remembered Amber's warning. He gradually realized that it was her doing to keep him under her control.
He was defeated.
