Academy of Chaos

“…… She’s a failure from birth” The words of her Grandmother echoed continuously in Yetunde’s head, as she aimlessly wandered the forest, with tears running down her pitiful eyes. Her attention and interest immediately got piqued, when she heard an eerie but peaceful song, alongside a cluster of weird but beautiful glowing particles, originating from a cave, deep within the treacherous ends of the forest. At the entrance of the cave, she felt a grotesque energy surge, which for some reason attracted her towards itself, thereby distorting her sense of reasoning. On entering the cave, Yetunde was immediately greeted by a group of infuriated witches. Originally wanting to kill her for intruding, Yetunde finds redemption and solace in the coven. The Queen of the Coven, Ella, surprisingly gifts Yetunde with a rare Arcane treasure, which she believed would help the young girl out of her present predicament. Shortly after the encounter with the witches, Yetunde was suddenly accepted to school at the most prestigious Academy of magic, known famously as “Solaris Arcane Academy”. Her acceptance was due to the sudden awakening of her innate Affinity. Not only gaining popularity, she gained superiority and soon found herself in an environment of both people who despise her and those who loves her. Making both friends and enemies in her new school, Yetunde and her peers wakes to find themselves on a rollercoaster of action, horror, drama, love, tragedy and other thrilling experiences. After going on countless quests and adventures, Yetunde soon discovered a shocking truth behind her existence. It dawned on her after a brief encounter with her previous incarnation. In her previous life, she was famously known as “The Witch of Chaos”, a human God, whose name got forgotten in time, right after her inglorious Battle with the dreaded Demon Lord, Jarzodon. Unlike other humans, she had an abstract affinity which allowed her to comprehend the seven basic Elemental forces of Nature and after further comprehension of these elements, she was able to awaken a far bizarre Affinity called “Chaos”. With her new profound Affinity, Yetunde soon rises through the ranks of her peers, becoming one of the most powerful Mage, the world as ever seen, as she prepared for her fated battle against The Demon Lord of Malevolence. Immediately after the defeat of the Demon Lord, a new foe rose with an Eldritch Affinity, far greater than that of The Witch of Chaos. Easily defeating Yetunde, The New Witch of Chaos, This new foe began to plunged the universe into a state of disorder and darkness. Yetunde, not willing to accept defeat, joined forces with her peers and family, and with this new power, she challenged her foe to another duel. After defeating this new threat, The Witch of Chaos returned the universe to it’s former state of serenity, restoring peace to the world. Shortly after her battle, Yetunde was forced to relinquish her humanity, in order to transcend into Godhood. What would she do? Will she abandon her humanity and became a God or will she forsake Godhood?

CHAPTER 21: Oliver Saché [II]

"The Arcane Arts, otherwise known as Magic or The Mystic Arts, is the Innate ability to utilize the supernatural forces also known as Mana, which doesn't abide by conventional science or laws of reality to achieve virtually any effect imaginable or affecting limitless possibilities and also, altering reality!" Oliver proudly explained, gravely exciting his Instructor.

"That is absolutely correct!" Jace exclaimed with excitement, prompting the students to give Oliver, a round applause.

"It seems like we have a prodigy in our midst!" He thought to himself.

"Oliver Saché!" Yetunde thought to herself, earnestly staring at Oliver.

"Shot, I wanted to answer that question!" She blurted, causing Rey to erupt into laughter.

"You're such a nerd!" Reynold's commented.

"No, I'm not!" Yetunde grumpily replied.

"Yes, you are?" Reynolds said

"No, I'm... Fine, I'm a nerd. Are you happy now?" Yetunde said, rolling her eyes.

"Yes, that felt good!" Reynolds commented, wearing a proud smirk.

Watching both Rey and Yetunde bicker, Chioma did not nothing but chuckle hysterical, placing her attention back into the class.

"What Oliver said is a perfect definition for The Arcane Arts. Before we move on, I want someone to quickly tell us what Mana is?" Jace said, facing the giant class.

Unlike the last question, they were a few hands up apart from Oliver's hand which Chioma actually a part of.

"You over there!" Jace exclaimed, pointing at Chioma's direction.

Seeing that Jace was calling on her to answer the question, she promptly stood her feet's and attempted to give the correct answer.

"Please, Can you introduce yourself young lady?" Jace immediately inquired.

Seeing that everyone fixed their gaze and attention on her, she almost decided to freeze up but immediately she turned towards her new friends who were greeting her with a warm smile and thumbs up, she regained her self confidence there by answering Jace's question.

''I'm Chioma Chinedu from the Water Faction!" She said with a voice that resembled that of a baby.

"Alright, quickly explain what Mana is!" Jace promptly commented.

"Mana, otherwise known as Arcane Energy, is an Ethereal form of Elemental, cosmic and divine energy, which serves the primary driving force of Magic" Chioma immediately replied, taking her seat once she was done.

"That is equally correct!" Jace said, prompting a round of applause from the students.

"It seems like we have more prodigies… Let's see how they grow!" He thought to himself.

"Alright, since that issues been taken care of, We'll be moving on. We Humans are able to utilize The Arcane with a set of certain words, rules and Instructions called 'Spells'. These spells are divided into two for a basic level, they include; The Arcane Based Spell and The Affinity Based Spell.

We'll only be focusing on the Arcane Based spells while The Affinity spells, will sequentially taught in your various Factions.

I'm sure you all know what Arcane Based Spells means. These are spells that deal with the precise control of Mana. Also, Arcane Based spells are also classified into seven groups, which are?" Jace explained, waving his hands frantically.

Unlike the previous question, a ton of hands were up, including Oliver, Chioma and Yetunde. Jace immediately spotted the right person to answer his question, as he pointed at Yetunde.

Seeing this, Yetunde wasted no time as she instantly sprung from her seat to her feet, prepping to answer the given question.

"Kindly introduce yourself!" Jace said once she got to her feet.

"I'm Yetunde Adebayo from the Fire Faction!" She replied, staring earnestly at her Instructor.

"Whoa, Fire bro, killer!" Jace commented when he realized she was from his Faction.

"I guess!" Yetunde confusedly said staring at Jace.

"If you mind, kindly answer the question!" Jace awkwardly said, seeing Yetunde's weird facial expression.

"Alright sir. Arcane Based Spells were classified into Eight groups but a recent 'school of thought' theorized that they're actually seven groups which are; Combat, Abjuration, Enchantment, Conjuration, Divination, Nature and last but not least, Transmutation" Yetunde excitedly explained.

"Correct, but what was the very last group?" Jace inquired, stroking his chin.

"Necromancy. According to recent research, it was discovered that Mages skilled in this group actually possess unique Affinities which are in tune with Necromancy. Due to this discovery, it was then removed from the Classification roster!" Yetunde promptly explained, brimming with joy and excitement.

Hearing her words, Jace did nothing but smile, as he shook his head in excitement, "That was just marvelous!" He said, prompting a round of a applause.

As she sat, She noticed some people who weren't happy with the fact that she was able to answer the question accurately. One of these obnoxious individuals was none other than Davis, who was sitting at utmost left side of the hall. Unknown to him, Yetunde had already spotted him, as she sent a wicked glare at him, causing him to choke on his saliva.

"How did she?" Davis worriedly thought to himself, quickly removing his attention from Yetunde.

"I'll show you… You'll pay for your insolence!" He said, biting his lips while he smacked this fist into his desk.

"Seems like we have more Prodigies!" Jace thought to himself, wearing a proud smirk.

''Alright.. For this class, we'll just focus on the Combat group and Abjuration group.

Let's start with The Abjuration, since you all are little bit skilled in combat. Abjuration, this group has to do with the ability to protect, support and heal. I'll be teaching you all on, The Protection aspect which mainly is Defense!" Jace frantically explained.

This class went on for approximately four hours and at the end of the Class, Jace prompted the students to study a little more on Abjuration, due to the fact that their next won't only be theory but mostly practical. Surprisingly, after this class, the students didn't have any other activity which meant they had a totally free day.

Exiting the Hall with Chioma and Reynolds, they suddenly met up with Vanessa, who looked like she was sleep walking.

"What the hell happened to her?" Reynolds inquired, shaking his head in disappointment.

"Who's that?" Chioma curiously inquired.

"She's my roommate!" Yetunde awkwardly replied.

"Is she alright?" Chioma curiously inquired, staring at the Vanessa.

" Yes she is. She probably just slept throughout the class!" Yetunde said, slowly walking towards the staggering female youth.

"Hey Vanessa, what's wrong with you?" Yetunde inquired.

"Oh, Hey Yetunde… I'm fine, I just need a nap" Vanessa said, waving at her roommate.

"Who's that?" She asked, pointing at Chioma.

"She's a new friend!" Yetunde immediately replied.

"Hi I'm Vanessa Hart!" She said, trying to wear a smile.

"I'm Chioma Chinedu, it's nice to meet you!" She commented, extending her right hand for a handshake which Vanessa reciprocated.

"I don't know why you're so tired but I think it's best that you go back to our room. When you've rested, just beep me" Yetunde said, wearing a warm smile.

"Alright… see you guys later!" Vanessa said, heading towards the dormitory, leaving the trio behind.

"Where do you guys wanna go?" Reynolds inquired, staring earnestly at the beautiful females in front of him.

"Firstly, we are girls not guys!" Yetunde commented wryly.

"Oh really!" Reynolds said, wearing a stoic expression.

"Oops, sorry!" Yetunde hurriedly apologized.

"I'm think I'm going to the Library!" Chioma answered.

"So am I!" Yetunde excitedly replied.

"Oh shit, really!" Reynolds complained, smacking his head in disappointment.

"Yes!" Yetunde replied, wearing a mocking smile.

"Fine, If you insist, I'll come with you" Reynolds commented.

"No one was insisting* Chioma responded, confusedly staring at the crimson youth.

"Are you sure, cause it sounded like you were?" Reynolds wryly inquired, obviously lying through his teeth's.

"You're obviously lying!" Yetunde commented.

"What do you guys even do in the Library?" He asked.

"Well for starters, we read books" Chioma promptly replied.

"Nerds!" Reynolds whispered trying to infuriate the girls.

"Would you quit calling us nerds?" Yetunde exclaimed.

"Nope!" Reynolds out rightly said.

"Besides, it's fun and helps to void yourself of distractions" Chioma continued to explain the benefits of reading in the library.

"Blah…blah… blah" Reynolds wryly said.

"Yetunde, perhaps we can find a book for our simple minded friend!" Chioma commented, causing Yetunde to erupt into laughter.

"Hey, who are you calling simple minded" Reynolds responded, glaring at Chioma.

"You Rey. I was talking to you Rey!" Chioma wryly responded.

"Chioma is right, we need to find a boo…" Yetunde said as she suddenly froze up.

In front of her was a dark figure but to everyone else, it was a regular student. This figure was the exact one she saw in the Library a day ago. From the figure, emitted a deathly cold aura which induced fear into Yetunde, but it seemed like the figure didn't know the Yetunde was able to see it. The figure out simply walked passed her and immediately disappeared, relieving Yetunde from its paralyzing effect

"Yetunde…. Yetunde…. Yetunde!!* Both Chioma and Reynolds simultaneously exclaimed, trying wake her up from her self-induced trance.

"Huh?" She confusedly blurted.

'What happened?" Reynolds curiously inquired.

"You just spaced out!" Chioma promptly said.

"Did… did.. Did you see that thing?" Yetunde stuttered in confusion and fright.

"See what?" Chioma and Reynolds confusedly inquired.

Few Minutes later,

The trio were spotted at Library. As they browsed through the aisles, they were accosted by non other than Oliver Saché.

"Hey guys!" He said, waving casually at the trio.

"Oh hey, wassup Oliver!"
